Games over...no Amare? No Billups, and Ray Allen became good again. I'll be shocked if this series goes 6. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
And Douglas has 4 fouls. No one else doing jack on offense. Only melo in double figures so far. And melo with 15 rebs.
30-16-4 thru 3 for melo. He's gonna have to carry us. Douglas, walker and shawne Williams gonna have to contribute
Garnett is performing a moving screen that is called a foul on Carmelo....I can't believe I may be rooting for Miami in round 2. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Refs are beyond terrible tonight. Two wrongs = right is perfect this game. Makeup calls galore. Btw, I don't agree with makeup calls. Quality of officiating enters a vicious cycle of crappiness / riggitude.
Jeff Ireland sucks, this game makes me want to punch holes in my wall...can't stop Rondo from dominating the paint, now ive ****ing seen it all. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Wich Celtic scores the GW? I'll say an uncontested 7 foot jumper for KG? Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
The ****ing Knicks can't set a screen to free up their superstar to receive the ball at the top of the key. As simple as that sounds...that is why the Knicks lost that game. That and back spasms. BTW, I love Toney Douglas..but he might be the worst defender at point guard in the league. At least, Mike Bibby tries.
Apparently only if there's an altercation. IMO A smart Jared Jeffries takes a swing at Garnett in that scenario lol
Im developing a hatred for Boston, will enjoy watching them get bounced from the playoffs by whomever. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Got my Bynum jersey already lol And the Knicks lost that game cause Jared Jefferies is too offensively inept to know that if you shoot from 2 feet away even over KG you probably will either make it or draw a foul. Instead he passes. Id rather have him be the next Charles Smith then have that happen again. Melo had the ball, got doubled and made the unselfish play. problem was Jeffries was the one receiving the ball and his baskets rarely come on anything other then putbacks. Next time just chuck up a 25 footer again over the double. I can live with Melo taking the last shot regardless of where it was from in that instance. Only other offensive threat left was Douglas. And for the record, Douglas is an excellent defender but he tried to play up on Rondo and Rodno was too fast. Douglas had to realize that but he was stubborn. I love the way Toney fights over screens and never met a lose ball he wouldnt dive for or tackle someone for. You can tell he got a lot of practice tackling his brother (Harry Douglass, wr, falcons) growing up.
"I apologize for those back spasms Amare....I was just thinking about you, and sometimes, I don't know my own strength."
Hey warden, you ever been in jail? Amar'e gonna put you there when we get to play next year. Hopefully he will have some help so Joel Anthony is forced to guard Amar'e 1-1..an impossible task for any defender.
I have seen Toney Douglas play about 15 times in great detail. He blows assignments like it's his job. Rondo would dribble to the screen, Turiaf would correctly step out...so naturally..Douglas cuts off the other side of the screen? No. He'll follow Turiaf..and allow a lane for Rondo.
That wasn't even a pass. It was like a feeble attempt at getting rid of a hot potatoe or something. SMH
Thats the way Dan D'Antoni instructs them to play! Thats why I cant stand Mike D. He wont fire his stupid brother. Bernard King and Earl Monroe said it best on the postgame... King: "When youre that close to the basket you have to go up with the shot" Monroe: "Jeffries is a defensive player so he was looking to pass. It makes me wonder why he was in there in the first place and I guess thats a question for coach" FWIW, Turiaf should ahve been in there and I saw him icing his knee earlier in the game...dont know if thats why he was not in?
Mike D'antoni is Cam Cameron. A great offensive mind...a terrible head coach. Yeah...You called timeout...wtf was Jeffries in there, unless you wanted another offensive rebounder? Oh and slip the screen for ****s sake. The old folks kept blitzing every pick and roll. You defeat that crap by rolling to the basket. Just get that feeling that the Knicks might have thrown away the series....WIN..with these two games.
I cant disagree. I just hope there are the loud, grouchy, hostile Knick fans who havent seen a playoff game in 7 years in the garden to greet the Celtics, not the Madison Avenue crowd who couldnt tell you 3 players on the team not named billups amare or melo. I want the refs to know how bad they suck.
Id love to but I have work right up til game time. Plus Im not paying over $500 for a ticket unless its a finals game or a series I truly expect them to win. For the record, last time I went to a playoff game for a team I like it was the Mets in 2006 G7...I really had no voice left for for about a month. It was pretty funny actually.
LOL. ESPN, with a WARDEN article... http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/miamiheat/post/_/id/6353/the-humanizing-effect-of-joel-anthony and ...wait for it...wait for it... THE NEW YORK TIMES..With a WARDEN article: http://offthedribble.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/04/19/look-beyond-the-box-score-for-joel-anthonys-value/
Also Wtf is up with Landry Fields? He has been garbage thus far in the playoffs... Even when we were shorthanded he wasn't even on the floor. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Fields kinda hit the rookie wall late in the year offensively. His defense on Ray Allen in G1 should not be overlooked when Allen was 1-7 or something awful with Fields on him. Bill Walker killed us with that 0-10 last night but played some tough D.
The real drama will be if the Boston Celtics can manage to not die of natural causes before the Heat series starts up.
general comments: i cant stand the way fouls are called in the NBA. im not really a fan of any team, so ill get that out of the way over the years bball my watching has become about 95% college and 5% nba, so im not an expert in the pro game anymore. but i just dont get it. one thing i find that does seem consistent is that attempting to play defense on a guy trying to drive to the hoop must be illegal. the hand check and the block are called so tightly, it is ridiculous. you basically have to put your hands behind your back and hope the guy runs into you on the inside, players can get murdered without a call if they simply try to play through a foul and score. i love the drive to the hoop that gets called with the offensive player is untouched, but i guess that happens in college too the nba is almost a completely different sport in many respects. its amazing to see guys that were stiffs in college like aaron grey earn a paycheck and play minutes in the nba playoffs. its a very specific brand of basketball that allows for certain, under-talented players to find a niche and certain, highly talented ones to explode once they learn how the league works. its the american pro league, and i like the sport,so ill watch important games, but i cant help but think that we could be producing a better brand of basketball than this jmo
Sorry Maynard. College basketball is garbage. it is obvious to anybody. Foul calls are even with what they were in the 80's. The level of B-ball being played is of the highest caliber. The best it has ever been.
