From the article in the OP:

What about all that due diligence that Ireland supposely partook in before agreeing to trade a couple of 2nd rounders for him? Marshall obviously had a troubled history, but you DO NOT make that trade unless you're CONVINCED that Marshall's off-the-field issues were a thing of the past - in which case you had damn well better have been surprised at the incident this past weekend.

This offseason has been nothing short of a soul-crushing siege that has me losing tremendous amounts of confidence in this front office on a consistent basis.

Just when you think this organization, as a whole, hits rock bottom - they keep digging.

I dont blame him, ambulance rides cost like 4,000 dollars.

    Marshall is economically saavy.

What bothers me about this is his "story" is so lame, my goodness after all of the "chats" he has had with the local gendarmes one would think he could come up with a better cover up then the "I slipped" nonsense, in Denver he was pushed through a glass table (iirc) and his story was that he slipped on a McDonald's bag and fell through the living room table.

Reminds me of the bi annual Michael Irvin drug arrests in Dallas.

At some point you just become a loser. But at least the Dolphins only gave up two 2nds, and not two 1sts. We're making progress.

We all knew Marshall was a gamble. The first year we had him he stayed out of trouble but I guess he just can't stay away from it. I'm not going to kill the guy though because we don't have all the facts.

This obviously would not have happened if Marshall had a WR that runs a sub 4.4 40 nearby.

True. If he had a strong running game and a better Qb I'm sure he could have avoided the incident as well.

Story like this make me even more convinced that the players should get bigger contracts and the owner should be force to pay them, considering how mature and responsible the players are, especially off the field.

  16. How exactly is it Marshall's fault he got stabbed again?

Because Marshall should be comitted to a "no drama zone" in his life perhaps?

I personally thought the smartest thing I've heard a famous person say whose life contacts with the unhinged:

"I do not allow anyone around me who carries guns"

    Russel Simmons

Think about it, the best way to avoid problems is to avoid those who have the slightest chance of causing a problem.

Honestly, we don't know either way yet.

Another thing to point out is that this should not affect him whatsoever as far as discipline from the league. The player conduct policy doesn't exist in the lockout. 'Spring break' as far as that's concerned.

Even Brandon's own teammates know he is a puke yet people still turn their head and stick up for him.
    The guy is a loser.

If the true story actually ever gets out and it shows that Marshall threatened his wife then by all means cut his ***.

Other than that he is the one who was stabbed and for all we know his wife herd from her friend he was hitting on Donna Shalala at a bar so she flipped and pulled a knife out on him the second she saw him. And her claim of self defense could have also involved her pointing it at him, waving it around and he went to grab her arm so she stabbed him............for all we know.

You're absolutely correct, I would have had something to say. But not just because you posted it. The article only expresses that the Dolphins are concerned about Marshall and the biggest denominator in it is the fact that no NFL team can talk to players so they cannot, at this time, make any type of judgement for themselves.

Thank God! I heard it was a non-fatal stab that didn't touch any organs. If I were in his position I would have tried to make lemonade. You know, just Google home suturing techniques and pull a Rambo for the team. It would have been a bonding experience for the young couple.

Nobody knows what happened other than Brandon and his wife.

Best Case Scenario for Dolphin Fans: Brandon and his wife have been going to counseling for years and are working on their marriage. However, that night, his wife was off her meds, Brandon said the wrong thing, and she snapped. Brandon and his wife were trying to be better people, but sometimes **** happens...like stabbing your husband!

Worst Case Scenario for Dolphin Fans: Brandon is a piece of crap prima donna WR, who will never change. He always wants his way. He loves drama. He flirts with danger any moment he can.

One would hope the whole "bat **** crazy" thing would have been discovered prior to the whole "let's get married" thing.

Join the growing ranks. Many of us lost confidence in this FO when Parcells jumped ship. You knew it was sinking and they done nothing but rearrange the deck chairs instead of taking charge and making this a credible & viable franchise. We are nothing short of an embarrassment to the NFL.

I'm not concerned with this at all.

I just can't see how Marshall being stabbed in mid-April, will affect his ability to drop passes on gameday.

Oh come on DJ, same stuff happened in Denver and Marshall was fine for the seasons he spent there, they signed whom they could before the curtain fell and the lockout happened what else would you reasonably expect from them?

No trades, no Free Agency, no contact with the players during the lockout, this is like a boxing match where only the bad stuff will happen and none of the good is publicized such as Jared Odrick running normally after his foot issues.

Last offseason, the Dolphins' brass made him the highest-paid WR in football and now (a year later) they're not surprised to find out that he was stabbed by his wife?

    Seriously?

A stabbing by the wife is predictable on their part?

Marshall married her should they have demanded he NOT marry her?

This is just it. Apparently the Dolphins thought so, considering they were anything but surprised at the news.

My only point being if you doubt, even the slightest bit, that his off-the-field antics/drama were something that he could've brought with him to South Florida - then you simply don't surrender two 2nd round picks and subsequently make him the highest paid player at his position.

But supposely Ireland did his due diligence prior to the deal and concluded he'd be a great citizen (which begs the question - why the hell wasn't the front office surprised at this news?).

I did as well , the previous incidents were with someone else and from I was led to believe , or concluded , this relationship had little of the past drama and was at least publicly , quite calm and stable. We'll see what unfolds , unfortunately the same thing over and over again is rearing it's head ...

No team would be granted that much control over a players' personal life.

    Two points:

-I suspect that Ross wanted a #1 Wr as a box office draw and BM is much younger and healthier than Boldin so Ireland made the best of the owners' demands (imho)
-Right now the first #2 pick went for Sergio Kindle who has yet to even practice in the NFL the whole "2 #2 picks!" stuff is way overblown as BM did produce our first 1k season since 2005.

Eh, he did what he could do and I still like the move.
