While it is difficult to place blame in this incident without knowing all the facts of the case. This just continues to show that Marshall can not seem to get his life together. This is just another episode of drama in his private life that continues to spill over into his public life. Marshall appears to be unable to act in a mature manner either on the field or off the field. While many fans are willing to put up with this spolied behavior on the part of Marshall because he is a talented receiver. I have come to the belief that his behavior on and off the field is much more of a detriment to the organization than it is an asset. Because of the many needs on the Dolphins offense this year. I suspect that Marshall will remain on the team for the 2011 season but it would not surprise me in the least if the Dolphins don't trade him or possibly release him after the season is over. Like most Dolphin fans I was happy with the pick up of Marshall last year and I hoped his behavior in previous years would improve if for no other reason than he was older and therefore should have matured as an individual. Instead he continued to behave like a spoiled child on the playing field last year and his troubles off the field have now continued. It is time to see if another NFL team is dumb enough to trade Miami two 2nd round picks for Marshall. Unfortunately I think the Dolphins would be lucky to get one 5TH round pick for him after this latest incident.

    I would never want that.
If you go back to post #63 I explained my comments.
Just looks like this guy is on a path for tragedy at some point unless his anger is curbed in some shape or fashion.

SHE is a certified nutcase? How do you know this? What his HER history? We all know Marshall's history, which is downright terrible. It's called a pattern. Given that, I'd say that SHE has the benefit of the doubt, not him.

Don't let his being the Dolphins' expensive receiver have anything to do with how you look at this. What does Marshall do? He gets into trouble and then lies about it. There are too many documented cases of this to think otherwise. It can't be everyone else and not him all the time, bro...not this many times. C'mon. Not at this point, and not for a long time. His side of the story you cannot trust, as he has already lied about it.

Look, I know some women can be off the wall hostile, and it's not out of the realm of possibility that it's her fault. But I'll tell you what, he should know better any way you look at it. It's going to be perceived in a certain way. Who is going to ignore his past and just isolate this one incident? Certainly not Mrs. Marshall's lawyer. I highly doubt that he was just minding his own business and she snuck up on him with a knife for no reason. Was it all-out brawl? At the very least he was an idiot, yet again, to put himself in that situation.

The only reason we are even talking about this is because Marshall is a football player; otherwise, we wouldn't care, and chances are, if we heard about this random guy with a history, we'd jump to a conclusion about it and blame him. Most people would. It's logical, and it's human nature. We don't live in a court of law, which is what this is all about right now. Marshall clearly doesn't understand what he stands to lose.

Whatever else you have to say, you simply cannot continue to have these things happen to you if you expect to continue playing in the NFL. That's the bottom line, and Marshall is a complete idiot to continue to put himself in these situations.

He could be as innocent as the Virgin Mary here, but the damage has been done yet again, and that's enough.

This is from the Sports Illustrated article about Darrent Williams' death:

Read that well again. Who is going to have an encounter with police close to once every two months in a two-year period? A guy you are still willing to give the benefit of the doubt to? Most of those encounters were domestic disturbances.

Another "accident?" No harm done here? Somebody else's fault? C'mon, not that often. The history and therefore the perception is still there. The NFL wants to be looked at as squeaky-clean, you know. Isolate this incident if you can, but most people won't buy it, whether Marshall is an innocent victim or not in this case. That's something we will never know. Never.

Ummm lets see. As I said, she was seen kicking and throwing punches at Marshall like she is a dude, and then there is the one other thing. She STABBED him! I don't care if he was yelling and screaming at her. She was said to have had no marks on her so that's the only thing I give benefit of doubt to. That he might not have laid a hand on her. If indeed he did not, then no matter how many times he's been in domestic incidents, he did not deserve to be stabbed. Period.

I like that he is a Miami Dolphins Wr but that is not swaying my thoughts on the matter. In no way, shape or form am I willing to jump to conclusions and say well, he's had 10 other similar incidents so what the hell stab at him. If any kind of investigation shows he put his hands on her before she got the knife in her hand then like I stated before. Cut his ***! Will that ever come out? Maybe maybe not..

I have a good friend that was so in love with this woman, and when she thought he might have cheated on her, or if she did not get something she wanted, she would started a yelling match with him so the neighbors would hear. Meanwhile inside the house she beat the crap out of him. Then he'd leave and once he was gone she would grab her own neck, rip her clothes, and even punch herself. All this after he'd leave the house. Then she'd tell the cops he beat her and all kinds of crap. Dude spent a year in the county jail only to go back with her once he got out only to do one more year in the county after she did it to him once again. OK so he gets out and does not go back with her for an entire year then she found him and he goes back with her again because he still loves the nut!!! I've known the dude almost all my life and knew every single one of his girlfriends and there were plenty. I even still see one of his X's and she swears he was never ever a threat to her, and I know the dude never laid a hand on her or would any other female. Yet he now has a record of over 10 domestic violence cases against him.

I'm not saying the Marshall is by any means innocent but to judge him and say he is without any evidence showing he is, is wrong imo.

Did you not read the rest of what I wrote? Any reply I might have is all there.

All the other incidents were enough to judge him by. 12 incidents in 27 months? Others after that and others before? Different people involved at different times. You will never know what happened in this case, or most of the others for that matter. It's the pattern, which you cannot ignore. You cannot isolate this incidence...it just adds fuel to the fire in so many places in the football world.

After they killed his teammate (probably thinking it was him) instead, he goes on to have an encounter with the police close to once every two months over a two-year period of time, most of those encounters being domestic disturbances. Do you have any idea of the odds of encountering the police THAT often and it being somebody else's fault all along? These cases are extremely difficult to prove, you know, which is why they aren't always pursued in the courts. If you have money, then forget about it. It's he said/she said, and that's all.

Who deserves the benefit of the doubt here, Brandon Marshall? I don't think so. Maybe his wife thought she could change him or something. Women are nurturers after all, when they aren't putting a knife in your belly. Don't be so fired up to defend him...history doesn't support that. Way too much history.

With all due respect, Marshall isn't the buddy you are talking about, either. Mrs. Marshall is not the only person involved in all these incidents, not even close. DIFFERENT PEOPLE were involved in these incidents...everybody but Marshall was always to blame, though, right? Always.

To be honest, I don't think the truth matters too much, especially since it won't be known in all likelihood. It's the perception, and Marshall is going to be demonized about this in the majority of the football world by fans...that's fans outside of Miami, of course. That will probably happen, fair or not. No more facts are going to come out about this case other than different versions of the story and the court's verdict.

It's about the perception and how much the Dolphins want to shoulder that perception. They don't need a reason to cut him, you know. Not that they will, but how much more burden will they be willing to carry before it's not worth it anymore? How long do you think they would defend him if he were a worse player with little invested in him?

Do you have any idea how much the NFL has invested in its image? That is entirely the main question here.

Football is just a stupid game, dude, but it's worth billions of dollars. And it's a business. They don't want screw-ups screwing it up, if you will. In the end, all I'm saying is that I'm not sure how many more chances this guy is going to get. The mob is fickle, and believe me, it is a mob.

Didn't your mother tell you that life isn't fair? I say that because Marshall will be on the shortest leash possible after this, whether he was the innocent victim or not, which probably will never be proven to any outsider's satisfaction. I mean, how does the big picture look with all that history? The league will NOT tolerate a huge stain on their image.

The fact that he lied and tried to cover for her is enough really.

Sure I read it but apparently you cared less about what I wrote and choose to judge someone on hersay or what was not said.

AGAIN! I've said more than once that Marshall has problems but won't be just judging him unless some more facts come out. Then if he did something, cut him, punish him, put his butt in jail.....

Yeah and we all know you tend to jump on or lean over the fence to judge a player you don't like so? There is also a system we use in America called 911 and those calls may tell more once they're revealed. But until then I won't be the judge. Nor should you but go right ahead.

I've said if he indeed did anything cut him.

No, I read what you wrote, too.

Apart from my opinion or yours, the thing is that more facts won't likely come out, not reliable ones. It's all going to be hearsay and maybe more changing stories. We will remain in this controversial space. A kind of limbo, if you will. That's been Marshall's MO for a long time now.

The Dolphins' reputation is somewhat on the line here. They may be able to ride this one out, but we're talking about a very volatile situation here. They can't be happy with Marshall right now, and that's purely business. They shouldn't have to deal with this type of thing, and that's what they are thinking. What kind of baby-sitting or therapy should they have to send this guy through? Their investment seems to have a propensity for getting hurt off the field.

Do you really think that I give a damn about whose fault this incident was? Do you really care whose fault it was? You can't control that, and you'll never know. I guarantee you that the Dolphins will put this down as a black mark in the extensive Marshall record book. You can't deny that it looks just awful.

Marshall and his wife could beat the ever-living-hell out of each other daily for all care...baseball bats, guns, knives, brass-knuckles...what is that to me? I'd prefer that they didn't do that, but if they do, I'm not losing any sleep over it here. I sure can't prevent it. I'm trying to talk about the practical ramifications of the matter. This guy is an employee in a high-stakes no-nonsense business that is obsessed with its image. This kind of crap won't fly, and they too don't care about details up to a point. Where that point is is the question.

Do you see the Dolphins powers-that-be sitting back and saying "what a crazy *****?" I doubt that. I doubt he has their undying and unquestioned support here, no matter what they say EVER. In a way, he's probably in the dog-house for being stabbed, fair or not. He's playing with some of those guys' jobs and livelihood, among other things. His problems become the team's problems to an extent. THAT is in their mind. Half of their personnel moves are judgment calls, right? Well, this is another one of those judgment calls. You deal with whatever facts you have, and those facts rarely if ever are 100% clear.

They'll always be worried about what is going to happen next with this guy. Seriously. He is EXTREMELY HIGH RISK...I'll say it again: extremely high risk.

Would YOU want him to represent your company? I think that's a fair question.

This is true, he could legitimately get suspended just for lying during an investigation, especially with his past. The only thing that might keep him from a suspension is the league labor talks, other than that I could see this being a lengthy suspension in the future. I hope he's ok, that this all ends well for him personally and on the field too but with his past this does seem to have a good chance of ending badly for him and us. At this point you'd have to really consider moving WR up the need chart for the draft.

  15. Why are you so prejudice toward him?

  16. Why are you comparing J Allen to a professional athlete

  17. It is possible that he was not honest about what happened because of his history and he thought people might convict him without knowing the facts, just like they are doing in this thread.

Its very possible but I would think that the NFL front office won't care much, the guy has shown a pattern of domestic incidents and lying about them. He could very well be looking at missing a lot of next season. Regardless of what he did or didn't do it seems pretty clear cut he's lied to the police here, even if it was to protect someone thats pretty serious.

Sorry man but that is a reach. The better possibility is that he instigated it and didn't want the police or anyone else to know the full story so he lied.

The reason why he lied is because he wanted to avoid trouble. Lots of different kinds of trouble. He didn't want to deal with the consequences of what truly happened. I'm pretty sure that's safe to say.

Also, his reputation is well-earned, so you can't blame people for reacting to this news in a certain way. He did it to himself. Don't know how he thought he'd get away with the lie, and the fact that he lied again sure doesn't help the public perception of what happened. People probably wouldn't have believed that he slipped and fell on a broken glass vase even if that were the official story anyway, especially after the TV incident and his history.

Gotta wonder about how many other incidents he was able to keep secret.

Most people simply just won't believe what he says no matter what at this point, not when there is trouble involved. Is that unfair? Not if he set himself up that way, just like the boy that cried wolf. The guy needs to smarten up.

I think the burden of proof lies with the police and its investigation, if Marshall gets charged AND convicted, he is gone.....if that doesnt happen he wont get suspended and rightfully so...

At that point you are saying you are guilty before innocent, which you cant, regardless of past history.....

People will say he lied to cover up, well maybe he lied because he didnt want his wife to get into trouble...nobody knows why....if thats not the case, why not file for divorce?? There are all the questions going around but Goodell wont react until there is a charging packet, it sticks, and he is convicted, and the case is disposed of....

I agree that it's extremely unlikely Marshall will be suspended about this. I mean, he did get stabbed after all, and that's not a crime. Goodell would look terrible suspending a guy for getting stabbed, regardless of his past, wouldn't he? I think the lie will be excused as him trying to protect his wife, no matter what suspicions anyone might have.

His wife will get good lawyers and plead down to something relatively minor and that'll be the end of it. This won't go to court IMO. They won't air their dirty laundry in public. That's my opinion.

Again! I've said there is a problem there it seems. BUT AGAIN! I would not put it past the woman that she may have initiated this. I've seen it done more than once myself.

Marshall has to MO's with this incident. One to protect himself, and two, to protect his wife because he knew she stabbed him most likely told the police he fell so she would not go to jail.

Before you reply, I know there is more to it than just those two things but I'm not buying that it's all his MO, and was all his fault someone got killed because of him. That's BS imo because in both cases one person did not deserve to be stabbed and the other damned sure did not deserve to be hunted down and shot! Yeah, I know some people say they were after Marshall but neither deserved it.

  24. I only brought up as one possibility. You say its a reach because in your mind you have already convicted the guy, case shut! That is on you. I'm not the prejudice one here.
