I'm thrilled with the Jets pick. Thrilled. I hope they trade up tomorrow for either Juston Houston or Brooks Reed. LETS GOOOOOOO
A RB like Daniel Thomas, Taiwan Jones, Bilal Powell, or Alex Green is where I'd go in round 3. Then I'd look towards a playmaking TE like Jordan Cameron, Virgil Green, DJ Williams, and Julius Thomas in round 4-5. Either that or a WR like Denarius Moore or Edmund Gates. Finally, I'd look towards more speedy playmaker RB's and WR's in rounds 6-7 like Kealoha Pilares, Ricardo Lockett, Aldrick Robinson, Da'Rel Scott, etc. We end up with a draft full of guys like that, and I'll be happy despite not getting a QB. We don't draft playmakers, this Fo should be fired before mini camps start.
I'm hoping for a bit better in the form of a top RB like a Ryan Williams followed by a Jordan in round four. Perhaps in the fifth and sixth you add a WR and TE and continue to do so for the remainder of the draft.
^^if he's there we will definitely take him but that's highly unlikely I'm glad we didn't draft Mallett in the 1st round
So Reggie Bush via his Twitter (I know ) Said its be nice New Orleans implying he is done in New Orleans. Hmmm Bush return skills are desirable.
In the 3rd round we should target Daniel Thomas or Kendall Hunter. If we want to go with a WR than it should be Titus Young or Edmund Gates.
God not Thomas. People keep throwing his name out and I have no idea why. Hunter I could get behind though. I think we need to come out with at least 1 RB and TE between rounds 3-5.
I have a feeling we go OL again with our 3rd rounder. Then go HB with a pick in the 4th and one in the 5th. Also grab a TE in the 4th.
I'm thinking Ireland is serious about liking Hilliard (which I'm ok with) as half of our 1-2 punch. How about Reggie Bush as the lightening with Lex the thunder?
I don't think Williams makes it either. Carter would be excellent especially if you follow with Vereen or Todman in the next round. An easy 3-4 combo to take care of the RB spot and move onto other business.
Carter, Todman, and Hilliard. Now that's a group. I could see them averaging 4.4-4.5 YPC if the offensive line shapes up. Then add in a TE perhaps in the fifth round and a WR in FA and the team has given itself some much needed speed. I really am curious though. How good were Ronnie and Ricky last year compared to say Ryan Williams, Delone Carter, and guys like that. Mark Ingram was better that I have no doubt but even these 2-3rd round guys may have been better than those two. They flat out looked tired and worn down last year.
Do you really believe Henne is an interior O-Lineman away from being sucessful in the NFL? That is what explains his piss poor performance last season. I'm sure glad we adressed that this off season. I will even go out on a limb and say I hope they double down on the postion and use our 3rd rd pick on it too just in case Pouncy gets hurt or busts. I would hate to think Pouncy cost Henne his career.
If you honestly want Henne to succeed you draft a RB who can catch the ball and make something out of it (Carter, Todman), perhaps trade up for an athletic 2nd TE like a D.J. Williams, give him a speed WR, and let him run out of an offense that's spread out. I'd be willing to bet Henne succeeds with that.
IMO our starting 3 could be DeAngelo Williams, Lex Hilliard, and a playmaking COP back like Taiwan Jones or Nic Grigsby who can burn up the field in space.
How do we get DeAngelo though if it takes picks to do it? If it doesn't I'm up for it no doubt. Him and Delone Carter together though. A WR in the fifth round to complete that. I'm really warming up to the idea of D.J. Williams as a constant threat on the field for Miami. A guy at 6-2/6-3 that can run a 4.59 is a very good athlete. Brown was terribly slow and every time I saw a big hole the two of those backs would get maybe six to seven yards. A back with even solid speed could have gotten eight yards at least on those plays. When it comes to RBs. I would rather draft multiple RBs than spend 6m a year to get a DeAngelo Williams. Is he 6m a year better than say Jordan Todman? Is that say 8-12 bonus over a guy like Todman over a game (say one runs for 4.8 YPC and the other 4.1 YPC) worth that much cash or is that better invested in something else. Miami busted three first round picks over the last decade at the RB position. That was a waste and a huge reason why instead of three first round RB picks, we don't have two additional starters right now (say another pass rusher and I dare say it a quarterback). I like the way Miami's cleaning the clocks on adding line help lately.
If it costs us something, then I agree to pass on the idea of DeAngelo. If he's out of the picture, then IMO we'll be looking at someone to either compliment Lex (since he's the only guy we really have and Sparano wants the backs to compliment each other better) or we'll be looking for a bigger back who can really do it all like Daniel Thomas or Jamie Harper. We have one bowling ball type, so I'm not sure if we'll grab another one if it means possibly costing us a playmaking back in the process. I like Carter, but I'm not sure if he's what we're looking for since he's not as much of a big play threat and wasn't used much as a pass catcher. I think Sparano honestly wants a game changer who can pick up chunk yards, and IMO Carter is more of a possession type back. But I could be wrong. DJ is a heady TE, so should contribute early on in my eyes. I don't see us becoming worse by adding a guy like him to the roster.
I wish they had just a couple more picks to make something happen. I think Carter has a little more then you think when it comes to playmaking and pass catching. You need two guys at that position. The second will be your beloved COP back.
I agree with you..... however I think Ireland is sold on Lex being the bruiser, so IMO we're looking for the speedy COP back to compliment him before we look at another stout runner. I could see us taking a flier on Allen Bradford from USC though b/c it wouldn't cost us a 3rd or 4th rounder. It's not "my" beloved COP back. Sparano is the one who has a man crush on finding one.
Eat me. Better yet have that chick eat me. (Wearing a cross is the funny part about her) Lance Kendricks one last name to throw out there. Can block, versatile, 6-3 247, runs a 4.55, can jump pretty well. Just a real good fit perhaps for Miami perhaps even in the third round, followed by a Carter and then another lower ranked RB. I really like the idea of that seam-stretching TE though. Just two more picks and it would have been perfect for Miami. Who knows maybe they trade next year's first to get a late 2nd, 3rd, and 4th this year. Then they can splurge on offense. Not much of a difference between a first round RB and a third round one these days. I would call him Henne's fireman. Henne can decide whether he wants him to block as an H-Back, take advantage of a mismatch on the outside, lineup perhaps in the slot, and I think he can block in-line with a little bit more weight room work. He's not Fasano, but the kid's stock is way lower than where Dustin Keller was and I'm not sure that's fair.
Yes please. I don't think that's something we can do without either tomorrow or in the 4th round. Alen really like Kendricks. I don't think he would hurt us either. My soft spot is for Virgil Green, but we all have our favorites. I never even noticed the cross. lol.
Lol. Alen nailed the Pouncey pick. I think Kendricks is the next guy and the fourth round guy is Jordan. Then they add Kevin Smith perhaps and maybe yet another late round guy perhaps the guy from Maryland in the fifth. It'll be a committee until they figure it out but it would be fantastic to have a true replacement to David Martin at last. Actually he'll probably be better. Really just an underrated kid. By the way on Reggie Bush. I can see it. I can really see it. He sees an open spot with perhaps Hilliard, Delone Carter, and he says I'm there. In a spread out set with Kendricks, Marshall, Bess, and Hartline with a good offensive line he'd be fantastic.
Falcons spend 2 first rounders, a 2nd rounder, and 2 fourth rounders to get Matt Ryan another weapon and maximize his success. Chiefs use a first rounder to give Cassel another playmaker and help take some pressure off Bowe in the process. Miami appears to be promoting a practice squad guy full time. Outstanding. lol
Atlanta is stupid. Chiefs are decent in that aspect. Miami did more than them by adding a guy that compared to what we were throwing out their last year is going to improve the running game and the passing game as a whole.
No &8^% Sherlock. I like the Pouncey pick. I wanted to move up in the 1st to get Mark Ingram also. We just didn't have the draft picks to do it, and I don't think they wanted to give more up next year to do it (a la Brandon Marshall). Emmitt is a great example of a great OLine making a RB. With that said, you don't have to have a legendary OLine. You just need a good one. I think we have that now with Pouncey.
