No, you're wrong. No one knows how to trade picks better than BB. He totally sucks at drafting players.
Put it this way, this regime just absolutely HAS to get better QB play this year from whomever is under center, or it's over for them. My patience is wearing thin w/ them - they better know what they are doing here. Maybe they know they have Kevin Kolb ready to come in, or Palmer .... or maybe they really really like Ricky Stanzi? Who knows - this year is put up or shut up for this regime, the whole lot of them!!! I too, don't think they can effectively groom a QB, at least they haven't shown they can so far. Maybe Dabbol changes that??
We certainly didn't have an offensive staff to develop a QB previously...... Safe bet Daboll does a hell of a lot better job with Henne than Lee and Henning.
pats have luxury we dont they have an abundance of picks and they are there, we are still building, they can go pire bpa on a qb, for ne he busts so what? its another day in patsie land, we take him & he busts we are done
That is a good thing to point out, last year's draft was one of the few successful BB drafts. Also for all anyone knows Mallett is the next Dan McGwire
The Packers are the exception. Rarely, if ever, does it work out as conveniently as that, and I'd be shocked if the same happened up in Foxboro!
I dont get the concern... there's a reason this kid dropped as far as he has. Its not just character issues that EVERY team would pass on him through three rounds. Hell, the team that actually took him passed on him what... 4 times before picking him? Guys with character issues only don't drop as far as he did. There's other reasons beyond anything that you, me, and every other average fan doesnt know, that actual REAL NFL scouts do. I think some people really just need to get over their mancrush on this guy. He may end up good in NE because of their superior coaching and development there. Here, or anywhere else, nowhere near as good. Lets face it, even if we drafted this guy, he'd be nothing for us. We coudlnt develop a QB before this regime, and we still can't now. nothing lost, nothing gained.
We can only hope and pray. I certainly do. After what I saw last year, it surely can't get worse, can it?
The teamspassing on him are one of two types, dont need a QB and would rather draft elsewhere or those teams that are too dumb to have drafted a talented QB to start for them either by passing on good ones or drafting bad. Guess which catagory Mia is in with Buff, Az, Oak, .....
The Pouncy pick was a given for me. I loved the pick. I don't dislike the Thomas pick, but I am not thrilled with the price of picks. I thought he would be available in the 3rd, perhaps they heard someone else was going to take him in the 2nd? Just seems strange since it was so far down in the 2nd round and the remaining teams on the board didn't seem to have a need. I figured maybe trade up in the 3rd before NE to get him... but that would be hind sight... who knows what prompted the move other than our FO. It just seemed like a reach. I don't dislike the pick just the method of getting said pick.
http://www.cbssports.com/#!/nfl/draft/story/15003197 Everything else I heard on the radio or from other teams' fans. Therefore, no link.
So one day ******** bill wakes up and realizes his qb is not immortal and maybe since he has 9000 draft picks he should take a chance on a talented qb that might have off the field issues but has as much upside as any qb in this draft. He must be an idiot.
We just got the best Olineman of the draft and a sold running back to improve one of the worst run games in the NFL, and all you whiners are complaining about not taking Mallett???? ---- the guy the ENTIRE NFL PASSED ON FOR NEARLY 3 ROUNDS. Give me a friggin break. I'd hate to go out to dinner with some of you; I bet the food gets sent back 3 or 4 times minimum till it's exactly to your specification...... and then you switch to something else on the menu.
New year, new QB, same dumb fans. I mean, before the draft I can understand thinking that Mallett was a good pick. But after he almost falls out of the THIRD round? I mean, how many people do you need to hear it from? The team that took him has ZERO intention of playing him any time soon, and they had a glut of picks & could afford to spend one on a long term development project. Us? We have no running game, no running backs, no speed on offense. We dont have the luxury of sitting our 1st-2nd-3rd round pick on the bench for the next 3-4 years.
Only two types of teams passed on him (he says again) teams that didnt need a qb and despite the value understandably decided to pick more toward need and those that need QBs and thusfar have been far too dumb to either pick a good one or not pass on a good one. Leaving AZ, Mia, Oak, Buff etc, guess which group they are in?
No, some thought we made a mistake not drafting Quinn but the draft gurus all thought we at least had a good player in Ginn.
I don't know if you mean mean me or todd, but I like both of those guys. Would have taken both instead of Thomas.
I mean Todd but the same could go for you as well Texan. Thomas will be good for Miami. A shiftier, faster but slightly weaker Peyton Hillis. This RB depth is impressive. Good chance someone even lands at our sixth round pick.
Got to love this qoute from Ireland "But I dont have the balls to make sure that future is with us." I'd absolutely LOVE it if the light magically came on for Henne, I really would. I'd love it if Daboll is as good of a QB teacher as they say and he can purge teh poison that Henning filed Henne with. But reality tends to kick you in the balls.
I've wondered about this for a few months now. Sparano knows in his heart of hearts that he's gone and he's just sticking it to Ross for the Harbaugh embarrasment.
And truth be told, from my perspective, once Henne took the reins that pick "started" to pay off. When you have a QB with a big arm you need to give him someone that can separate himself from the secondary and run under the ball. Marino had a little all world track speed receiver by the name of Mark Duper that helped propel him to the record books in 1984. EDIT: I am not comparing Henne to Marino... ffs. I am comparing two gun slinger type QBs and the weapons they had available. Henne did much better with a Speed receiver than without. That's my point.
If baby=good...... then sure I'll have one. That could be a smart move Jaj. You like it? If it means being able to get our COP back AND TE, I say do it, hell yes.
me too if we didn't have a starting running back on the roster.... however w/o FA prior to the draft, the carry-the-load guy comes first.
with how hard Henne's working right now, I think it's on. Plus, during the Packer game, the announcer parroted off that Brandon Marshall said Henne was an extremely hard worker. usually the last guy to leave the building and always putting in extra film work. It might pay off this year.
