dissenting views are fine .... and good for bantor ... not really sure why it gets venomous at times ...

so, if we took Mallett at 15, everything would be 'ok' ... a dude very unlikely to start, but 'could' be very good in a couple years ??

we need contributors right now, today ..... as you can't count of FA, unless you want to blow up the salary cap ..

you want to know why this team is where it is ... review drafts 05-07 .... THOSE were terrible drafts, exactly how many of those players are still in the NFL, much less starters anywhere (so the argument of scheme can't be used).

    excellent draft so far:
Long-Incognito-Pouncey-Jerry-Carey: a probable fix is in the making
DThomas, Kory Sheets, Ricky or Ronnie with Polite: the stable is upgraded & complete

Way too many times that has happened with this franchise over the last 10 years. Thank God for them many of the fans are loyal, but disagree with them or Sun Life Stadium would only be half full on Sundays.

    No worries.

Helps to clarify which posters are worth a discussion and which one's aren't...

Their loyalty is admirable but to bad at times it truly clouds ones vision and the inability to realize the need and importance of constructive criticism and how important it is to recognize one's inadequacies in order to grow.......

Realize the emotional level a fan has toward his team and that all of us at times must discipline our actions and anger and try to remain civil.....Some can't

I try not to waste much time on those posters. And don't take them very seriously

You really believe that, then fine. But please let others disagree without the name calling and putdowns. He and I don't believe we'll be improved to the point that it will make a real difference. I actually believe we are a MUCH WEAKER team since the end of last season. We lost veteran leadership at the RB position, and filled it with rookie promise. I'd rather have proven veteran leadership. We also are removing veteran presence on the OL and you automatically expect a rookie, with no proven NFL time to come in and dominate on the OL ? Not everyone is Jake Long dude. If he was he wouldn't have been there at 15. So you believe we are better. Maybe, but NFL history says we are not. Do we have the ability to get better with time ? Possibly, but to assume we are a better team right now, and more equip to beat the Pats on opening night, I will respectfully disagree with you.

Jake brother .... not sure how many folks are 'drinking the kool aid', or just remain hopeful that the team gets better each year. While i haven't had serious issue with this regimes draft record (outside of White) ... i remain adamant that this team would be better without Sparano ...

my 'guess' as to why he is still here .... any of the 'hot' coaches would have also wanted to get rid of Ireland -- to me, THAT was how we ended up retaining Sparano.

much like Ginn, Henne is the poster child of the teams failures .... and folks are convinced that we can't win until he gets canned -- that kool aid, i ain't drinking this time. regardless, QB is the polarizing topic ... maybe the FO has a plan in FA, maybe they don't ... maybe they're giving Henne a 2d chance (which i think is warranted); who knows .... but what we do know is QB won't be truly addressed in this draft - so its a moot point.

Wish I could agree with you, 23rd. Ricky no longer has the speed to get outside and goes down too easily. Ronnie is the same kind of back as DThomas, but by now a lesser version of the same skill set; always been too indecisive. Kory Sheets is a zero to the left of the decimal point so far; no Mercury Morris by any means. Polite is not; he'll roll over you, and I love the guy. We lack speed and elusiveness at RB and need to address it.

You just automatically think by drafting Pouncey & the RB that all our running game problems are solved ? You really are way too naïve bro. They will have to not only learn Daboll's system, they also have to learn to work with the existing OLmen we have and that takes time. What this FO did was the safetest way to go, and could eventually work but it also might not. They are taking a huge risk, rather than take the risk on a new QB. They made their own bed and now have to lie in it.

Sheets is just wishful thinking right now ... when was the last time he's been able to stay healthy and get on the field ... he'll surely get the chance - but he can't be counted on, a bonus of sorts if he does.

You need to get a grip on loyalty with a franchise. One can disagree vehemently with what the FO is doing and still support the team on Sundays 100%. If you can't grasp that concept then maybe its best you move on from posting on team message boards.

Many in the media (especially Mel Kiper) thought that Pat White was a GREAT pick. They also that that Todd Marinovich was going to be the next great Raider QB, and that Jamarcus Russell would be great too. How did those turn out ? Until they play no one knows but what we do know is that the Dolphins will never get to the next level with the present QB play we have had. These guys are betting on Henne as of now. I hope they are right, but if I were a betting man I'd put my money in Vegas on another team than this FO. I'd still cheer for my Fins, but I think my chances of winning money are elsewhere.

That's just the point, we WILL offer more money, because WE HAVE TOO. And in the process, under whatever the new cap will be, will leave us less money to share with existing players. You can believe what you wish, I heard it right from his mouth on Channel 7 Sports Extra (11:30pm Sunday nights) about 2 months ago. He said that the whole Harbaugh thing, coupled with Dez Bryant, and other gaffs have just made our FO look unstable. If it comes down to a few hundred thousand or a million on a contract, players who have options will most likely be choosing others ahead of Miami. You can continue to stick your head in the ground and ignore this - that is entirely your own choice. This FO has made their own bed, from owner on down, and now they will have to lie in it.

Well I feel confident in what Rosenhaus said, and agree with him. They look like a FO in save my job mode. That never breeds confidence in the players that are looking to win a SB and get paid. Those kind of guys will not be coming here, and they are many times the ones that can make a difference that gets a team over the top.

After the 111th pick, I've upgrade the Dolphins grade to an A.

Edmond Gates: A+. Again, we had 4 huge needs entering the draft and we've address 3 with our first 3 picks. WR, was imo, our 2nd biggest need behind RB and Gates fits everything we need. Deep threat, can be our #4 WR, special teams, spreads the field, etc...

Great pick. Hopefully we can work to get another 4th or 5th and snag a top TE available.

There are 120 FBS schools, plus all of the FCS and Div 3 teams. Then you have the Pro Personnel dept. I can assure you the Dolphins have more than 8 scouts.

I can't truly disagree with any of your position here. Its just a damn shame that this FO made so many mistakes since they got here. They had a great opportunity and in my mind have completely wasted it. But that is what you get when you have a rookie GM & coach. Nevermind Parcells was here, because in my mind he was a rookie in many ways with being his Super-GM/Player Personnel guy. He didn't always buy his own groceries from what I remember. He had someone do it for him when he was at the Giants didn't he ?

They've done nothing but go younger. Saying that is not building for the future is not looking at the entire picture. You can say they've done a ****ty job at building for the future, but you can not say they have not at least attempted to build for the future.

No offense but why should your personal mock affect his grade? Mayock had him rated as his 3rd Rb, and I trust Mayock over someone on a forum.

I'd bump my grade up to a B-. I have high hopes for Gates, and after Bess and Marshall set a record for the franchise last year he can add that speed we need and help the ST.

Anyone think we can get TE D.J. Williams?

    We'd need to trade up within the next 10 picks or so. I think we could deal a 2012 4th + 2011 7th for a 2011 5th + 2011 later 7th.

If we can do that and take DJ Williams or Virgil Green, then this is an A+ draft.

Been down on the draft so far, but I will give the Gates pick an A-. He is a complimentary speedster. Rough around the edges, but some excellent potential. If we can turn him into a Johnny Knox type player it will be a fantastic pick.

Shame we will probably miss out on DJ, but lets see what happens.

DJ Williams just went to the Packers... Green is the only other TE I would be interested in... but with 37 pick to go before the Fins pick again I doubt that is going to happen.

The problem is exactly what you state. The Dolphins are clearly going to have to over pay to entice free agents to come play for the team. With the head coach and GM on the hot seat, free agents will only want to come to the Dolphins if they are going to make a lot more money next year playing for the Dolphins, than they would playing for a winning organization. In fact no matter how much money Ross is willing to pay in free agency. It would not surprise me in the least if no top tier free agent signs with the Dolphins unless the Dolphins just offer them some ridiculous amount of money that no other quality team would be willing to come close to matching.

Free agents don't necessary think about football when their making their choices. The aged vets do, i guess.

I am so on board with trading a lot to get this guy. Send a future 5th+both our 7ths to trade up into the 5th this year and grab Green. He is everything we need in a TE, I feel. Entering the draft, I really only wanted him and DJ Williams, but I wouldn't have minded Housler or Thomas. Well, all of them are gone now, except Virgil.

We still need another RB. Ive always wanted Allen Bradford out of USC but he is another bruiser and we need some speed to complement Thomas. Too bad, because I like Bradford way more than Thomas given the value.

There is obviously no doubt we will be running the ball this year. Pouncey and Long will be a sick tandem for Thomas to run behind. I for one am psyched Polite leading Thomas around the left side will be interesting to watch.
