That's my feeling exactly (and more succinctly LOL). I think that just a regression to the mean gets us most if not all of the way to double digit wins. I'm not saying that it's guaranteed or even a prediction. But I do think that's how close we were/are.

I find it hard to believe, unless there are a bunch of injures, that Miami will have double digit losses

They would have been gone had we lost the GB and Minnesota games. Well at least Sparano would have been gone, not sure about Ireland, but most definitely Fist Pumper would have been blown out. We also with those two losses would have probably been able to get a QB in the draft too......SIGH.........

Why ? The offense will have a rookie on the OL and a rookie in the backfield, and we still have Henne (vomit) as the QB. I would more surprised by double digit wins, than double digit losses.

Certainly we are in much better shape now than we were on May 3rd 2008.

You're like a walking self-fulfilling prophecy. It's like you're looking for excuses to see us fail. Do you always cross bridges before you get to them? Have a box of Rolaids in your pocket at all times?

No, all I have been is a fan of the Miami Dolphins for 45 years and seen all the last 37 of them end in frustration, especially the last 10. That will make one a cynic.

OH NO A ROOKIE ON OL! Seriously?

I would be much more surprised by double digit losses than double digit wins. Especially without injuries.

I'm going to pretend Chad Henne 2010 does not exist, and hope for the best this year. Remember our optimism going into 2010. Well that's all we got now as fans (that can change in FA). We can get to 10 wins easy.

Time will tell. I find it hard to believe we won't with our current QB situation.

Schmoot, its not optimism, I don't evaluate players or our team that way..

My research on Daboll comes from Alens breakdown, some forum research, and some brown games, I think what he does is light years beyond Henning...He had real QB issues last year for that team, and had one nice skll position player, who did happen to shine..I love the wildcat formation he uses, and how he uses it, and when he uses it, and when he doesn't use it...I feel confident the new look, and motion, are gonna translate to our players.

Special teams is all about personnel..I expect us to sign some free agents for that, and take that part of the game very seriously from a personnel standpoint..Gates is an upgrade from what we have..

I am confident that Ronnie brown sucked last year, and so did ricky for a good part of the season..

I am confident that with 2 good sized free agent signings, combined with a draft that addressed weaknesses instead of doubling up on a position of strength we will establish balance as a football team, I am confident about that because I believe I know how good our defense is, and how much better they can become with a better ground game, return game, a few more catches on defense, and an offense that can improve their rating in scoring points, both those things are very achievable with a new look and some new players at key positions.

Iam very confident that if Henne is the starter this year, with the subtractions that have been made combined with the additions, we will see improved production from that position, its inevitable becaus of the how the negative variables were holding down that position..

The main reason why I feel confident we will be close to 10 wins is because I have watched our team dominate, offensively, and defensively, good football teams last year, hell the first 5 games of the season last year it wasn't even close, yet those negatives tore us up..Those things that caused our losses have been at least addressed with improved talent and theory.

Iam on the record for 9 and 7 last year, so its not like I thought we were going to the superbowl..Iam not that kind of fan.

Its all about achieving balance for a great defense to become our identity...Ive used that word balance all offseason and before the draft, its why I did not want to add to the strengths of the team but to cater to the weaknesses...I thought we would use all of our picks for offense except 1, I was wrong we selected 2 7th rounders.

I would also add that our offense dominated their opponent the first 5 football games they played.

I am not the biggest fan of Henne, but if the Dolphins running game gets going, he can be pretty decent.

If the line goes injury free next year, I do believe the running game should be decent.

We kicked that teams *** that day at the LOS, on both sides, a couple of plays that were caused by unfamiliarity helped them tremendously, otherwise it would not of been close.

yeah exactly, I find it hard to express my thoughts at to how close we are, but all I can tell you is, from watching these games again, we really kicked the sh%$ out of our first 5 opponents, including the losses...even the offense was moving the ball well from the 20 to 20 with ease, while the defense was just dominant..These things have to be quantified properly in projection.

Now I know why your responses are usually hard for me to handle.
1: You're an attorney - which makes you argumentative. (amongst other things!):pity:
    2: You are impatient -
3: You claim to have perspective... enough to share with others.[AND:
    4: You are 31 bloody years old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:tongue2:

I've been following this team for 46 years.... and have learned to be patient even with the best coach in the NFL. GAWD!!! I was in and out of the Navy before you were born and had to hear the perfect season on ARFRATS! (Go look it up, whippersnapper!)

GAWD!!! Johnson turned this team over to the One-Eyed One-Armed Flying Purple Cluster &()( named Wannstedt, who then par-boiled the quarterback and the offensive line down to a swampy mess, and then turned it over to the Mini-Might College Coach Wannabe who flew the coop as soon as he realized that he didn't have the capacity to terrorize a professional locker room and then turned it over the HEEYUUUUGE ? called Cam.... who need to have his lifters adjusted, and you're impatient that this regime hasn't taken the Dolphins to a Super Bowl since you were just about old enough to drink legally.

GET REAL... I hope they make it before I DIE... So there!!!!!:wheelchair:

    1) the rookie is one thing, the offensive line is another. takes a while to get the timing & coverage down, to learn all the little things that will make the offensive line function as a whole. by game four they should be over the hump, if we get the training camps opened without further delay & have a strong preseason.
    2) personally, I believe we will have a good year. if the QB (whoever) steps up, we could have a great year.

Incorrect, Daboll coached Qb's in NY.

To me, there are several things that can/will lead to 10 wins:

-easiest schedule since 08, no one has commented much on this, but the last 2 yrs we have played 8-10 games against playoff teams (4 v the jest and pastsies) and teams with winning records who just missed the playoffs, this yr that number is down to 6 games (maybe 7 not certain)

-defense is chock full of young, talented, veterans.

-offense can hardly do worse then it did in 2010.

    My concerns are:

    -Depth, especially at OLB.
-ST, Sparano has shown a disregard for that unit
    -Running Back situation

Address those areas and we can have that "double digit win" season.

Hey Pads , great to see the enthusiasm.

I see it as ( at least for now and no real chance to change ) we don't have productive QB play , we have to beat NE and NY , we have coaching issues , and still a lack of speed and playmakers and dependent on several rookies to fix issues. I hope we do well and win 10 games , but right now if I am betting , I bet we don't.

Don't dismiss Buffalo either , splitting with them seems to be a pattern that is hard to break.

In fairness, the Jets are due for a tumble D22, they have yet to find that passrusher and they have 9 starters in FA, agree on the Bills, one of the other things not talked about much is 2yrs in a row late season losses to the Bills have sunk both playoff hopes and a winning season hopes.

Patsies are the patsies, as long as Brady is their Qb, they will rule the AFCE roost, I do think we can split with them.

I also think much of that depends on Dan Thomas's play, if he is a bell cow we can get a split done imho.

Look at the rest of the schedule, AFCW, NFCW, third place schedule with the weaker divisions on tap ala 2008.

I never said otherwise, and I do agree with you. Most teams don't have quality depth or a good system (at least not both) though. There may be 5 teams in the league (if that) that could "survive" what the Packers went through.

Haha, this was my first thought reading Omar's article... He left out our powdercake '08 schedule, Brady getting hurt, and bringing back Mangenius to the Jets.

Sink or swim, our season will go as Henne goes ~

Right, I don't think losing Wake would kill our team overall for example, just that it would hurt our pass rush a lot. Losing CJ would significantly hurt the Titans run game, and JAllen's loss would hurt Minny's pass rush a ton, but neither would prevent them from winning most games they should (though of the two I'd say CJ's loss would be greater).

IMO the best teams are best coached and a lot of that coaching focuses on fundamentals. See Belichick and LeBeau as examples. Others get too caught up in schematics and end up doing a ****ty job of preparing their team.

Which is why I am not a fan of Rex Ryan Alen, he does not coach guys up, he signs Vets and plugs them into his scheme.

To me, the best coaches have a proven scheme that they know how to tweak, and they motivate players with their PRESENCE not with speeches or dorky lobster traps, for example Shula merely had to be present for guys to give 100% if he were pissed the players knew they could be cut so they had better tighten their games up or they would be gone.

That is why Mandich called him "the Old Man".

To his credit, he does a good job of teaching them the scheme and having veterans run it helps a lot. How long that lasts is a different thing though.

Exactly, which is why maybe Ghost has some life left in his career, Rexxy is not going to spend time developing such a player when he has Vets like Pace and Thomas and Taylor waiting to play, why bother giving the Ghost snaps or practice reps?

Be interesting to see what happens to Rexxy's team when the Salary Cap becomes a reality again.

Don't see the harm in giving him a shot Alen, the talent is there, Sheridan is a rock solid DE to OLB conversion Coach, and the UDFA market and FA market have no one with his potential.

Whether he is fat, dumb, and happy with that #6 overall money is another story.

Wake and Ghost have more in common then one would think:

    -weight room junkies
-physically gifted but disappointing performances, Wake went North, Ghost has to find somewhere
-Coaches could not decide if they were DE's or OLB's thusly they did not develop.
