    A slap in the face.
Couldn't he even defend it through a couple of regular programs for that matter? TNA could actually put together a pretty good roster with all of the talent that Vince is misusing these days.

It looks like Randy Orton is turning heel again, after he beat Christian and left the ring and went into the back he came back out and got on the mike and told the fans that when they go home make sure they remember who's the champion. I'm thinking the WWE knew people would go nuts.

Who the hell thought this would be a good idea? Just keep her the hell away from Jeff Hardy if/when he ever comes back, if she makes it that long.

EDIT: Word is she's in IMPACT now because she's dating Kurt Angle. Let the jokes begin.

PLEASE NOTE: That TNA is no more, it's not simply referred to as IMPACT. Whatever, TNA was a stupid name anyway.

Best move they made in a while. When I say TNA wresting to people they look at me all strange at first.

Now I wish they'd sign some of the talent Vince is misusing and make a real run at the WWE. It would be great for the business.

It would be very good for business but outside of signing The Rock or John Cena, no one else is going to make a difference. IMPACT should be focused on making new stars instead of signing WWE rejects or old guys that can't wrestle anymore. Of course even if they signed Rock and/or Cena I'm sure the 'Powers That Be' would screw it up.

Not necessarily old guys. You're right, WWE doesn't have any older guys they could get ahold of anyway. I mean the CM Punks of the world. Wasn't there discussion in here not too long ago about punk's contract running out soon? If I'm Impact I'm going to focus on guys like that. I mean surely a guy with Punk's talent would like to do something besides get pinned by Randy Orton.

Punk has joked about his contract status via Twitter which is making people believe the reports are false. And I'm sure if he's a free agent IMPACT will go hard after him. So let's just say CM Punk does in fact leave, as good as a talent he is, he wouldn't do anything for the ratings outside of his first appearance just because of how strong the WWE is and how weak IMPACT is. I mean Jeff Hardy, whether you love the guy or not, is a bigger draw than Punk is and didn't do anything to spike the ratings.

Yeah you're probably right. I've never actually watched a TNA/impact show, but it seems like even drawing in viewers for a show or two would at least give them a window of opportunity to showcase some talent. If they have any. I'm a fan of Sting but if they're using him as their main guy that's a problem. I mean the guy's been wrestling since the mid 80s or so. They're not going to win any fans from WWE with Sting. It might help if people even knew what channel their show aired on. I couldn't tell you. Maybe they just don't have the money needed to push their product out to a bigger audience.

TNA made some noise when they put their show on head to head vs. RAW a little over 14 months ago and they got killed in the ratings and after 3 weeks they switched nights. They just can't compete with the WWE, mainly because the shows were just bad and they brought in guys no one cared about anymore (Scott Hall, XPac, Nasty Boys) and put them over guys they should have been pushing. It's too bad because they do have some talented guys on their roster, they're just viewed as the minor leagues because of their productions and how the company is run. I mean now is a perfect time for a company to make a run at the WWE but there's just no one out there to challenge them. TNA had the best shot at it and they couldn't even land a punch.

I think they knew it but judging by a few articles, they didn't expect the outburst they received.

Randy is one of my top favorites but they championship is a slap in the face unless they have something decent in mind like giving him a win for it over a top star rather than "here is the vacant title"

Which would be rather confusing since supposedly the draft was held when it was because Vince felt SD needed a top face to carry the show and hwy Orton was moved.

Yeah I just can't wrap my head around this one. I have to say though Orton and Christian put on a really good match despite the fact that I hate the result. I would think normally if they wanted to put the title on Orton they would have a heel beat Christian at a PPV and then have Orton take it off of him at a later time.

They put the title on Orton because they felt they needed a top star holding the belt and to be the face of Smackdown since Edge retired. Since Orton won the belt the backlash has been so heated that if played right the WWE could really turn this into a big money angle. The WWE had no idea the title switch would get so much reaction from the fans so it could actually turn out to be a good thing.

It may turn out to be a good thing, but how did they not know there was going to be backlash?

I guess Vince is completely oblivious to the fact that people love underdogs. I guess everybody in the world knows that except Vince Mcmahon. People like Christian and his in ring work is outstanding. Nobody was thinking, "Boy this is a joke, I wish an established main eventer had the belt right now." Several years ago he gave Edge a real opportunity to become a singles star and main eventer. I guess he decided the best thing to do with Christian is take a leak on him.

I think if they do this right and let christian pursue orton, and eventually win the belt back, it could be a really good thing for christian. I'm hoping thats what they do. We'll see I guess.

Because the WWE never saw Christian as the 'chosen one' nor does he have the WWE look of a champion or any of the other BS excuses the WWE uses nor did they think the fans would care since Orton was champion now. The WWE has never had faith in Christian as being 'the guy' and the only reason why he was given the title was because of Edge. They just thought people would be so happy Orton was champion again they wouldn't care.

I don't think anyone would have guessed there would be this much backlash from the fans. It's almost overwhelming.

This. It's too simple to screw up really (but the WWE doesn't have the best track record in terms of lay ups like this). It could be a big money feud/angle.

Seeing this huge disconnect between what fans really want and what the powers that be seem to think they want I'd hardly say this is too simple for them to screw up. Expect to see Christian jobbing at the bottom of the Smackdown card before long so that fans can forget him and remember to only root for WWE approved main eventers. Back here in the real world Orton would make a much better heel anyway. I think his persona fits it better. This is all a shame, if Christian was a mexican wrestler they wouldn't be using his lack of size as an excuse not to push him. The fact remains the guy can work in the ring as well as anybody.

The amount of backlash should be obvious to anyone who is connected with the real world. As I said earlier people love underdogs. Christian has a decent amount of charisma and does great in ring work. People love to see someone succeed based on guts and hard work. But instead they got the WWE basically telling them, "Sorry, if you don't have the right genetics and pedigree all you're ever going to be is a jobber for one of those guys. Now go away Christian so we can force Mr. third generation main eventer down everybody's throats." I watched the smackdown match wondering how Christian would work in the ring with a guy like Orton and I came away impressed.

John Morrison needs neck surgery (according to him via Twitter). Not sure if him being out really makes a difference on RAW right now but it will be interesting to see who steps up to take his place in the R-Truth feud. Maybe CM Punk can be a tweener and talk about Truth's unhealthy lifestyle or something like that.

Since Truth has turned against the fans maybe he should feud with someone who is all about the fans like Mysterio. Truth was going on about kids and stuff the other week and Mysterio connects with kids more than anyone except maybe Cena. It would be pretty easy to get it going but last week made it look like they might have Mysterio work with Del Rio for a little bit.

I figured Mysterio would feud with Del Rio since Cena and Miz are penciled into the main event at the May PPV. CM Punk literally has nothing to do so I figured he could make sense there. Of course Kofi Kingston is the US Champion and it could make sense to give Truth a run with that belt.

I guess TNA (or is it IMPACT now or did they change back I'm confused) still doesn't get it. Ric Flair was doing a radio interview and said that he will be feuding with Sting over the summer for the World Title. Really?

And we were talking about Vince being clueless. The thought of a world title going to a guy over 60, no matter what he once was, is a joke.

And this is why TNA will never touch the WWE. Look I love Ric Flair but he hasn't done anything meaningful in 8 or 9 years and before that he's only had a random moment here and there and he's nowhere near even half the worker he used to be (for obvious reasons). It makes zero sense to me.

Randy Savage has died as a result of a car accident.

I'm pretty bummed out by the news. Savage was my favorite heel of the 1980s and I had always held out hope that he and Vince would reconcile. It was nice to get a DVD set on him and see him in a couple of the video games in recent years. Here's hoping Vince does the right thing and puts him in the Hall of Fame where he belongs.
