Wow, that was a horrible call on the Reyes' triple.....at no time did his fingers leave contact with the base.

When will Umpires be held accountable for horrible calls....down right horrible calls.

Plus, next batter hits a jimmy-jack which should have given Mets the lead and not simply tied the game up.

    I strongly despise bad umps!

One of the worst calls you’ll see this year

Jose Reyes hit a triple in the eighth inning of last night’s Mets-Nationals game. And then he was called out for allegedly taking his hand off the bag.
Watch the replay — the second, super slow motion one — and note just how not off the bag he came. Luckily the Mets went on to win and it didn’t matter, but at the time it seemed big.

Now since that game the mets have lost 3 in a row. :(

Bad news for the Mets as they just announced that Jenrry Mejia has a complete tear of his MCL in his pitching elbow. Mejia is seeking a 2nd opinion but he's most likely done for the year. That hurts because it pushes his development back even further now.

Supposedly the Giants have been asking about Reyes availability for a trade. They were talking about it on WFAN today. The Giants have a ton of pitching to offer they were saying.

Downside is you basically kill the season, but if your going to trade him, you get more for him now than you do in July.

They better get at least Baumgartner plus a prospect or two if they deal with sf.

I'd be shocked if SF made that deal for only a half a year of Reyes. But if I'm the Mets I ask for Brandon Belt and/or Bumgarner as the center piece.

I'm happy so far, they are held accountable for the silly mistakes they made under Manuel, Beltran and Reyes are doing great, Ike Davis is the real deal. Wright needs a kick in the butt.

But so far I would say better than I expected, we still need some starting pitching.

I really don't mean to kill the Mets here but I don't get the logic of calling up Fernando Martinez if he's not going to play everyday. How is sitting on the bench and getting a spot start every once and awhile going to help his development that he needs since he's often hurt? Plus why call up a COFer when you put your 1B on the DL anyway? Some of the moves the Mets make are just strange.

Can Belt play any position besides 1B. Because 1B is booked for the next decade unless its for Pujols.

Paid off quite nicely last night when Fernando hit a 2 run homer. Hes ready if he can stay healthy.

And of course it wouldnt be a season if Chris Young wasnt already done for the year with a shoulder injury

Belt has been playing COF in the minors both this year and a little last year, not sure how well his defense is but he's at least getting experience there.

I'm not questioning Martinez' talent. I just don't think it's wise to his development sitting on the bench 5 days a week when he's already lost so much playing time due to injuries. With both Bay and Beltran on the corners Martinez at bats are limited. It just doesn't make sense to me. If one of those guys were on the DL and they wanted to call up Martinez and have him playing everyday then great I'm all for it.

The Young injury shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. I do feel badly for him though.

Well in some form Martinez has been in all three games. Two as a pinch hitter, one of which he homered in, and yesterday he started for Beltran.

Getting 1 at bat per game/pinch hitting isn't going to help with his overall development. I just don't feel it makes sense to have him warming the bench for most of the week.

maybe, maybe not. There are two schools of thought there. But regardless with pagan out and Beltran always day to day we needed someone besides Jason pridie who can play cf if needed. Martinez may not be a natural cf but bay hasn't played there in years and beltrans days in cf are just about done.

i haven't posted in here yet, but i just wanna say Justin Turner with men on base is money (so far this year)... that clutch hitting factor is something we've desperately been needing...

Every year, without fail, someone posts this in this thread. Youre lucky I love Family Guy :)

Michael Einhorn has purchased part of the club for 200M and has first dibs on the rest of the club should the Coupons, er Wilpons be forced to sell the team.

And yes, the Justin Turner love continues. He had RBI in 7 straight games earlier this year and now 6 straight games currently.
Dillon Gee is the second Mets rookie (technically he is a rookie) to start a year 5-0.
Reyes on bereavement leave for 3-7 days. Hes leading the league in hits and triples. Only the 3rd played ever with 3 multi-triple games in 1 season...

    Kinda cheezy, no??

I think its an indictment of the whole organization. No leadership, no conviction, no consequence. You let him quit? Weak move Reyes!

    Weak Manager, Weak Teammates.....
