I'd love to have him back as a 3rd RB while adding another 1, or 2 in FA.

    Walk Ronnie Walk

Ricky is a bum loyalty-wise and a fraction of what he was a few years ago. He's not even worth retaining at this point.

Really? How many better options are out there?

Sounds like you're still angry about the retirement.

Better options? How about Ronnie Brown.

    Daniel Thomas
    Ronnie Brown
    Lex Hilliard

I'd rather have people that don't trash the organization and are younger than Ricky Williams, the fumble machine.

lol That's funny bc I'd say Ronnie's game fell off more last year than Ricky's did. Btw, Ronnie also lost 2 fumbles last year. And Lex Hilliard is better? Lex Hilliard is younger, that's about it.

It's my preference to go after one of the potential free agent backs, primarily DeAngelo Williams or Ahmad Bradshaw. However, if the Dolphins do bring back Ronnie or Ricky, I'd prefer that Daniel Thomas learn a few things from Ricky Williams than Ronnie Brown. Obviously you can't teach the vision that Ricky (has) had, but those little things that Ricky does, such as pass block, knowing when to cut it up and get two yards versus losing five trying to go outside, etc., I think would benefit Daniel Thomas more.

Agreed. I'm not that high on Deangelo but I'm in the same boat otherwise.

Ricky has a crazy work ethic too. I can't ever remembering him not being in great shape.

Ricky bashed Henning and his scheme
    Plus Sparano being an enabler
Out of the two my preference would to see Ronnie walk.

You really would rather have Ricky Williams teaching a guy over Ronnie Brown? Ricky would be an awful teacher he can barely eat a sandwich. The guy is nuts. Ronnie was more productive and was coming off major injury.

Since when do you really need to teach a RB?

Rather keep Rick cause he is cheaper and will give you more at this point. Still.
Ronnie wants to get paid again
Could give a damn less if he goes to the Pats

Deangelo will be over-priced and certainly is no spring chicken or without an injury history.

Benson would be just ok if he was really cheap, which I doubt bc he seems like he'll go for the most $.

Bradshaw I don't think will get out of NY. If he does and we don't have to pay through the roof, I'd like.

Sproles would be another compliment back, but I wouldn't want to have to rely on him for the bulk of the work if DT went down.

Michael Bush. Hell yes. I've wanted us to trade for him for years now, but I can't see him leaving OAK.

Obviously I meant Ricky teaching Thomas precluding some off field habits, but the man's an absolute workorse who hasn't been out of shape since his early years with the Saints. The man is a fiend of taking care of himself. How many other running backs do you know who've had a 1,000 yard season at 33 years of age? I think he can certainly teach Daniel Thomas more than Ronnie Brown.

Ricky is inconsistent personnel wise and on the field at this point. I'd take a slew of other FA's if there is one this year.

Ricky may be eccentric, and he may have lost a step, but I would rather have him over Ronnie or Lex Hilliard. Daniel Thomas, a quality free agent back, and Ricky would be a scary trio of running backs. Frankly, I'm more tired of seeing Ronnie dance behind the line and leave the field on a stretcher than I am of seeing Ricky fumble. And Thomas was drafted to be the Wildcat QB. Ronnie, who wants a payday after his contract year, is the odd man out.

If the cost is equal, yes. But saying who you would rather have without discussing the cost associated with each player is ignoring a big part of the equation.

With the exception of 2 freaks of nature, that being Walter Payton and Barry Sanders, what makes a good running back a great running back? It's the offensive line guys. As much as I like Ricky and Ronnie, if we were to make our OL a POWERHOUSE, Daniel Thomas could become the next Thurmond Thomas, Emmitt Smith, Larry Johnson or Steven Jackson. In their prime, those power running backs destroyed defenses.

Ronnie Brown is NOT a better option than Ricky Williams. Not even close. Ronnie Brown is injury prone. He takes to many negative plays by tip-toeing behind the line. He lacks the vision Ricky has AND he lost as many fumbles as Ricky did last year. For the past two seasons, Ricky has averaged more YPC than Ronnie. And Ricky, even at his age, is more likely to break a big run than Ronnie is. He has more burst and, even being older, can still tote the ball faster than Ronnie.

Ricky Williams is a much better fit than Ronnie Brown in an offense with a significant amount of zone blocking. Brown has mediocre vision and decision making skills. Ricky Williams has lost most of his outstanding physical skills aand looks absolutely nothing like the ultra punishing runner he used to be, but gets by because he has great vision.

Frankly, I'm sick of Ricky's attitude. Call him eccentric. Call him new age. Call him spiritual. Call him whatever you want. But, in the end, I think he's a "me first" guy whose production has fallen substantially. Look at the statement. "I want this, but it's up to other people to make it work." If he really cared about this team, he would approach the topic with a much more humble attitude.

...And Ghandi, I'm sick of your attitude too. Je-sus!...I'm watching you.:chuckle:

Pffft! Ricky is beloved by me and plenty of other Dolphin fans for things he has accomplished both on and off the field. If it were up to me he would always have a place on the team but he will always have a place in my heart.

As far as Ronnie is concerned, give him less money and put him at fullback. He still is a great blocker and he still has phenomenal hands...

I might be misinterpreting. It is Twitter after all. But this is something I have noticed for a while. I saw it in the "30 for 30" special. I've seen it in some of his tweets. And I've seen it in some of his radio and tv interviews. He just really comes off as narcissistic at times. That doesn't mean he can't practice hard. And, had his production been better last year, I wouldn't have as much of an issue with it. But Ricky does not strike me as the kind of guy you want to depend on for "veteran leadership."

He is the kind of player who leads by example, as in train hard, practice hard, take care of your body, and give it your all in games. He is not a rah rah leader. I'm ok with that.

I dig the idea of Ronnie being moved to fullback. Would be nice in Madden-world. Would it work out in reality? Who knows, he'd have to really be willing to work at it. He's a good blocker...led the way quite a few times at Auburn for Caddy. Maybe he'd be more of a threat to catch passes out of the backfield at that position.

Ricky should probably just hang it up. I like Ricky a lot, but if I were going put some money out there for a guy it wouldn't be him.

To me, Ricky Williams almost totally lost it in 2010. When it goes for guys like him, they drop off a cliff. A lot of people don't seem to agree that he lost it last year so maybe that axiom isn't as true as I think, still an eye of the beholder thing, but even so it just means that in 2011 people will see that he is really and truly done. He broke hardly any tackles in 2010. He wasn't impressive physically. He's on that slope and about to drop off the cliff.

Ronnie Brown I'd be more prepared to say isn't quite done. He could have just been a little tentative because of his contract situation. He still showed at times that truly impressive physical physical ability and if he got the security blanket he might run his heart out for you again. I'd prefer to go elsewhere at the position, especially with Daniel Thomas coming in and a potential switch to ZBS...but I don't think Ronnie is done.

If this staff really does plan on marching Chad Henne out on the field this year then they better not bring Ricky Williams back. He is absolutely one of the players that truly and vocally gave up on Chad Henne. He also seemingly gave up on Tony Sparano, although later he sort of apologized/recanted But it wouldn't be good for the locker room to have him still be here while Henne starts. Gotta use your head better than that.

Most players put forth their best effort when in a contract year, not play tentatively. To get a good FA deal they need to be coming off a good season. I'm not going to believe Ronnie was being tentative because he was worried about his contract.

Ricky played better than Ronnie in 2009/10 by any measure. So IF he has lost it totally, then Ronnie has too IMO.

Some players do just the opposite because of the fear of injury. Ronnie Brown has an injury history, it's the main thing that has been dragging down his value. It would make sense if at 28 years old he feared taking another injury more than he feared 3.7 yards per carry. At 28 years old, he's probably not going to get many accusations that he sucked in 2010 because he was already over-the-hill. But if he got hurt in 2010, he WOULD suffer accusations that he has no durability and can't go a year without getting hurt, regardless of age.

By that logic, we shouldn't bring back Sparano either...
The whole team quit on Sparano last year...

That still doesn't really make any sense.

Instead of getting accusations that he's over the hill or not durable, now he's just known as not very productive.

    But, he can dance. :hammertime:
