Horrid trade for the Warriors if true. The prevailing thought is that Monta and Steph Curry can't co-exist, but Monta should be worth more than A.I. #2. The guy is a top scorer in this league. At least trade him for a defending big if you can.

I wouldn't trade Ellis, that guy is a scoring machine. Igs is a good player but he doesn't scare anyone.

Monta Ellis is a REALLY bad defensive player. Igo has a contract thats awful. Sounds like a match. Both players have good points and bad points. If I had to choose one, it'd probably be Igo because he can defend and Im not sure Ellis would be the same player outside of the run and gun style they play in GS. Not a big fan of the score-first PG mentality.

As a Sixers fan, I would be quite happy with the trade. Iggy has to go, he just has to... He's not happy here. Sixers fans aren't happy with him. Iguodala is a very good role player. He's maybe the best perimeter defender in the league, a great passer, and a great rebounder. But he's forced to be our #1 option on offense, and he's just not a good scorer.

As for Ellis. The guy is a bonafide go-to scorer. He's not a great defender, neither is Nowitzki, or Durant, or Gasol, and a lot of other scorers. Defenders are easy, and much cheaper to come by than 25+ ppg scorers. And I can tell you, the Sixers not having a go-to scorer cost the Sixers at least 10 games in the 4th quarter last year. Iguodala was terrible in the clutch. Lou Williams was terrible in the clutch. Ellis's numbers in the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter were far, far, far superior to Iggy and Lou's. Another big thing for us, is Ellis won't have to defend his position, SG. Jrue Holiday will get that duty, which would expose Ellis much less on that side of the floor.

The only problem I have with the trade is, who goes to the 3. Evan Turner is not a fit at the 3 at all. I'd prefer to go get a defensive specialist like Battier or Pietris and allow Turner to play 30 minutes or so off the bench at the 1,2, and some at the 3.

Because he's much more efficient at the 4. He can't handle the ball nearly as good as you'd want from a 3. Thad Young is what he is, a guy who comes off the bench at the 4 to give you instant offense. A very good role player to have, but not someone the Sixers should overpay for if a team offers him 7m+ a year this offseason. No sense in us making the same mistake we did with Iguodala.

Monta isn't a PG, he is a #2. He is a scoring machine, but as a SG, those are fairly easy to come by. Someone brought up an Ellis for Rudy Gay trade today which, I think would be something I would do if I was G.S.

Jerry West is working for the Warriors now and his love for Rudy is well known.

Would make no sense for the Warriors. They want and need defense. Rudy Gay doesn't play it. Iguodala is arguably the best perimeter defender in the league. Doesn't make much sense for the Grizzlies either. FWIW, the Sixers and Grizzlies were reportedly talking a Gay-Iguodala swap a month ago or so.

If you trade Ellis, you need offense back as well since Monta is the first scoring option. You pair up Gay (a front court player, and the Warriors need size) with a still emerging PG in Curry and you have a very nice scoring combo on offense.

The Warriors just picked up Mike Malone who is a defensive wiz to coach them up. I expect them to be better with regards to team defense regardless of who is on the team. A.I.'s contract is just horrid and he doesn't bring anything to the table that Ellis doesn't already do. Gay, in my opinion, does.

But I have been a fan of Rudy Gay for a very long time so maybe I am biased.
