Vontae has had a weird last two seasons, he starts out red hot, then fades, for example we recall his hit/injury in the Vikings game, but overlook he was one the league leaders in missed tackles for a defensive back.
Really? Who cares where players are ranked? Let's play 2011 and see where everyone ranks. Last year mean **** to me! And it should mean **** to everyone else. NFL is all about "what have you done for me lately." That's universal: from the coaches to the fans. All I'm concerned about is 2011. That, to me, is all that matters.
He doesn't have a prayer of making it, even if we didn't already know Miami had 3 guys and Wake/Marshall are 2. Long is obviously the last. Boy needs to be more consistent and pull down more INTs before he is top 100. On the plus side, it is quite likely Long is the top offensive lineman and should be rated somewhere in the top 30.
Only three Phins made it. Marshall and Wake are gone already. No way the best LT in the league doesn't make it. I love that he's ahead of Joe Thomas as well.
Well considering that they may not even play 2011, we might as well talk about stuff that happened the year before. Either that or we can talk about the decline of the might San Jose Sabercats in the Arena League...
And yet you have people here howling that the Dolphins are going to be the next big thing. These guys have been here for 3 full seasons and they have only 3 guys in the top 100 ? Shameful.
No way Vontae is a top 100 player. There are 22 positions (excluding special-teamers). Just by doing some simple math, would you argue that he is a top-4 CB in the league. Would you argue that he is a top-5 CB in the league? Would you argue that he is a top 10 CB in the league? Me neither. Despite Brett Favre's praise.
I could see VD in the top 10, though Sean Smith played better then VD in 2010, those two are a Top 5 Cb duo in the NFL imho, hard to find to many duos better, most teams have one good Cb and some dude at the other Cb slot.
Disappointing, possibly. Shameful? No. With the exception of a few key components this is a team built for the long haul. Not coincidentally, we're one of the youngest teams in the league. If anyone cares to look it up I'd wager the vast majority of players on that list have been around the league longer than 3 years. It's not just a talent acquisition business, they need to be coached up. Players that can reach elite levels in their first, second or third years are not all that common. Just because Vonte (or Smith, Misi, Soliai, etc.) isn't at the level yet doesn't necessarily mean he (they) won't get there. This is not to say this franchise hasn't made their share of mistakes. That's obvious. But as others have pointed out, 100 players divided by 32 teams is roughly 3 per team. It's average, which is about what this team is.
Top 100 most inconsistent, maybe. There's still hope; Pat Surtain didn't really come into his own until his 3rd or 4th season, when he was considered to have surpassed Sam Madison. Then again, Surtain benefited from playing alongside Madison and Brock Marion. Davis is not so lucky.
Tell you what gets me excited about this post brother...I disagree with you, yet I have respect your eye... Its a win win for me...It means to me, that we have one hell of a corner tandem for the future.
