I think in our debate of ability, I think we've missed out on a part of the equation. Davis is IMO, smarter. He's a very intelligent person off the field too. I think his intelligence, combined with his vocal nature, helps him. His ability to make the big play and make some noise brings up just some crazy excitement on the D. Watch after he has a huge hit; the rest of the D starts to play hyped man. His ability to make the other guys play better is not to be discounted. Also, he stoned Adrian Peterson at the 1 yard line.
I remember Smith's time being in the 4.4s so I don't believe that site. Here's an article from right after his pro day: After the junior from Pasadena, Calif., had a 40 time of 4.47 at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis a few weeks ago, Smith showed up to Pro Day a bit faster, a bit quicker and a bit leaner. "The pressure's a lot lower here," Smith said. "The night before the combine, I was staying up and nervous." He continued on saying he was more "loose and focused" at the Pro Day. The 6'3" Smith said he had dropped five pounds from the time of the combine until the Pro Day, taking him from 214 pounds down to 209. And it helped. Smith ran a 4.43 40-yard dash and showcased his tremendous athletic abilities by performing in the shuttle drill and performing ball drills with individual NFL scouts. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/139081-smiths-pro-day-performance-cements-first-day-bid

Jennings is a beast, but he doesnt do fancy TD dances or make self serving sermons in the media so he flies under the radar. But think, (even though I blame Bell) name one other WR who has made Vontae look that bad? You'll be thinking for a long time. I think VD is faster, but I think Sean is tougher to beat over the top, if that makes any sense lol.
Forgive my bias Mr C,once I realized I was too short to play QB I switched to WR (flanker) and Ive thought the Z was the place to be ever since. From a QB's perspective, if the QB is right handed, you almost have no choice but to look right (at the LCB) first in your progression. Also, most offenses are right handed in the run game so you want your best tackling corner on at the LCB spot. My mistake for making it sound absolute, I should've said it's my personal preference to have the #1 CB at LCB. I'm also hoping we'll see more of Marshall at flanker, a la #47/88 Irvin, this season.
I was following Smith pretty closely during the draft process so I remember his numbers. IIRC the 4.5 came out immediately on NFL Network but it was later reported that the official NFL time was 4.47. I also specifically remember the 4.43 at his pro day b/c I didn't expect him to be that fast. (Taller guys almost never look as fast). So I have very little doubt that NFLDraftScout is wrong.
I honestly question this forum now. I've watched every single game for VD and SS and for SS to have this much "love" is mind-boggling. TERRIBLE tackling abilities and constantly get burnt (even by TE's). Another site full of internet warriors who never could make the team yet preach and have opinions as if they are Hall of Fame legends......SMH
