This was no surprise for me at least, and her acquittal was not due to some great lawyer craft on the part of Baez her attorney.

What it boiled down to was putting "Action" to "Outcome", the DA's office simply did not effectively show what happened, where it happened, and state of mind when it happened.

    Thoughts?

Didn't follow the trial very closely, but from what I gathered there really wasn't much physical evidence of murder.

There was solid evidence, just not a lot that tied Casey Anthony directly to the murder. Duct tape over someone's mouth is a pretty strong indication they were murdered.

The problem is, because 30 days passed after she murdered her kid, then it was even longer until they found the body, too much time had passed to determine cause of death, and a lot of potential evidence was lost.

    The ***** got lucky.

State made a mistake in pushing 1st degree/death penalty. They could never prove intent and therefore couldn't prove murder. The defense basically admitted to child neglect.

While she probably had something to do with Caylee's death (even it was just an accident) I definitely don't believe the state proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt

To be clear, imo from afar it appears Casey Anthony is at de minimis a hoochie, at de maximus a psycho path, she makes my skin crawl tbh about it, however there is a huge leap from that, to "guilty of murder", there was simply not the basis for a conviction on the charges.

Will also point out that for those who think she got off "free", even acquitted this will haunt her for the rest of her life, the way I see it the only difference is whether or not she dwells on this in prison, or out and about, either way though there are no truly "free" passes.

Won't matter, the mind she is a cruel mistress Gish.

Put it this way, how would anyone like to relive the death their child over and over for the rest of your life?

Now consider "you" had a role in their death.

    Sounds fun.

I don't understand how she was not guilty for child abuse and/or manslaughter, didn't the defense say she "drowned"? I didn't follow too close but that's what it seemed. She definitely got lucky, it's obvious she did it but there was little actual evidence. She got some of OJ's luck. I don't see how an innocent person wouldn't report their child missing for 31 days, and it would have been longer if her mom didn't call the cops. She just partied and lied and pretended her daughter was alive.

She probably chloroformed her, and kept her in the trunk which smelled rotten and had traces of chloroform in it, which was also searched on Casey's computer on how to make it something like 80 times. Hopefully she will rot in a ditch as a drug addict. Who would hire her for a job? Though she'll probably get a book deal. Also hope she neverhas another child. The last time someone in such a high profile case couldn't be convicted because a lack of evidence in the natalie holloway case, he went on and killed someone else. (Joran vander slot or however it's spelled).

First comes the book. Then comes the made for TV movie. Then comes the playboy cover once she runs out of that money. Then comes the tabloids. Then comes the drug addiction. Then comes the sex tape. Then she dies of an OD.

If she chloroformed her how was there not a single trace found anywhere but inside the trunk? So your theory really makes no sense. The physical evidence in this case was weak. There was no smoking gun. My guess is it was some sort of accident and Caylee died. Casey put her in the trunk and tossed her in the woods. Went off to party for a month like nothing happened and made up a bogus story. That was why she convicted of false information to police. They didn't supply enough hard evidence to convict her on those charges. The judge set heavy instructions on reasonable doubt and the state's burden of proof. The state couldn't prove it.

Simply put...not beyond a reasonable doubt....its crazy, but the prosecution sucked! Found it quite dramatic that her parents ran out of the courtroom, they were cleary disturbed by the verdict.

Simply put the state didn't prove their case. People can piss and moan all they want, but if anyone of use was on trial for a crime we'd all cling to the hope that the case needs to prove the case, and not the media. I listened to nearly the entire trial, and while I feel she's guilty there's no way in hell I'd have convicted her on the body of evidence put forth.

It really bugs me that Baez might be thought of as a great lawyer due to this. His arguments from what I have heard were pretty strong. His theory of the case seems to me to have unnecessarily put his client in danger and looked to me like he was trying to draw attention to himself to the detriment of his client at several points. I didn't pay attention until people started asking me about his defense, so I really don't know what the prosecutor proved. I will say playing catch up that I think the error was in suggesting this was a first degree murder. I think I would have pushed for a felony murder in the course of child abuse theory if I understand their evidence right. The problem is that people would have been PISSED they didn't go for death and the prosecutor is likely elected in Florida just like any other state. It may be politically favorable to lose like this versus getting a felony murder conviction and have an uprising about why she isn't getting the needle.

It was a really tough case to make, I'm sure. I am satisfied the system worked as designed and they didn't prove the case to the jury's definition of a reasonable doubt.

Same here, I rarely pay attention to media driven "celebatrials" but from what I did watch it looked like the DA was floundering and trying to make a jumbalaya of a case, toss in "oh, she went out partying!" and "a fellow inmate used the same defense!" and it seemed to me to be simply a listless case on their part with not enough evidence to really direct anyone, let alone the Jury, or even the alternate juror, to convict her of murder.

To me, the jury did a good job of ignoring the tawdry stuff and just looking at the evidence itself.

Anyone else think Atty Baez looks a little like Hugo Chavez?

Hearing the alternate jurors interview was interesting. Motive seemed to be a big issue for the jury.

The problem that the prosecution had was that Casey, while she may be a kook, had no history of violence, abuse, etc. The leap from childish mom who relies on her parents too much to cold blooded pre-meditated killer is a pretty big leap.

They found duct tape over her mouth.

I'd say that makes more sense when you're trying to kill someone, not when you're simply disposing of a body.

Physical evidence isn't the end-all, be-all when you're talking theories. A friend's daughter disappeared without a trace from the UF campus 22 years ago. They're pretty sure she was kidnapped and murdered.

Why the hell would there be chloroform ANYWHERE around this woman or her property? Much less in the trunk of her car, which six different witnesses said -- unmistakably -- "smelled like death". And why would she Google search it 84 times (or visit the page, can't recall)?

Plain and simple, this case was pretty f'ed up and anthony did enough song and dance, my suspicion along with the parents, to mess up the case.
My only hope is that those who are upset at the outcome of the Casey Anthony trial, remember that rage when she publishes her book and does her 20/20 interview. But they won't, and they'll end up supporting her financially.

It wasn't enough Muck. It was all too scattered and assumed. Sure there were some things that looked like it was murder I do agree. I see your angle on the chloroform and what you did there but to prove the how they would have needed to find chloroform somewhere else besides the trunk and there was not even a trace. The jury didn't believe the why and the when was never determined let alone proven.
IMO either Casey didn't commit murder or she pulled off the perfect crime. We rarely see the latter.

Maybe not but physical evidence will get rid of doubt. One expert said 84 times and the defense brings in an expert to say 1 time. The smell of death with no physical evidence in the trunk. Not guilty is not innocent.

Were there not lesser charges the jury could have convicted her on? That's my biggest problem with this. She clearly was involved in the death and cover up of her child. Why on earth would she lie about where her daughter was? She had the means, the motive and the opportunity. She should be serving 25 to life. This is almost as bad as the OJ trial... almost...

It would have made my skin CRAWL, if ANYBODY got a 1st degree murder conviction based on that "evidence".

The evidence showed that she was probably pretty loose..and a fun chick to hang with (if you catch my drift). it might even prove that she might be mentally ill.

    But not a murderer.

The evidence was not good. it was iffy and needed a ton of interpretation. Once the prosecution couldn't say HOW she died..it was over IMO.

My gut tells me that the jury just simply wasn't willing to follow the prosecutor for anything disputed once the prosecution team tried to sell them on first degree murder and they rejected it. The defense was an invitation to find her guilty of the four misdemeanors. I think there was a case to be made that the child's death amounted to felony child abuse and the felony murder doctrine would then generally make the murder 2nd degree in most states I'm aware of. 25 years would seem a top end sentence for something like that, not so much 25 to life.

Hmm, I rather enjoyed her reaction and wonder at what point some of the stuff she said about Anthony would be worthy of a lawsuit.

For me, I think this will be one of those situations where women will be really angry, men will not understand why they are angry.

Dead for like 3 years now. Little kids die every single day, no one has a memory of them all. In fact, having the national population (for the most part) reducing the memory of the child to this trial is better memory than most any of them get.

That's not supposed to happen here though, with a mom who had a silver spoon up her *** her whole life. I could care less about the verdict, since the girl is dead either way, but the whole thing is sad. Florida looks like a joke, once again.

She obviously got off due to a lack of substantial evidence that gave motive, showed the true narrative, etc. My only question to people in the jury is how could you not convict her of at least the charge of abuse? Knowing you daughter is "missing" for 31 days and not reporting it to any authority is the highest level of neglect and abuse imo. IMO she did kill her it and wasnt an accident. IMO Children that have duct tape wrapped around their mouth and nose with a little heart sticker placed on it did not die of an accident. But as stated above I find myself having a hard time being outraged in the grand scheme of things. Sad? DEFINITELY. I have two toddlers of my own and hope to never know how one in this situation feels. Outraged? no. Many things go in in many places all over the world that should recieve just as much coverage.
