I expect this football boredom to cease and desist in the next two weeks. In the meantime, here's a look at how our players on D compared to our "very good fiends, the Jets." I'm just listing top positional player vs the same, and their "overall" rank as per PFF. DL- Soliai was #10, Pouha was #8 on the nose. Langford was #5, Ellis was #4, Starks was #10, DeVito was # 7. ILB- Dansby was #12, Scott was #3. Crowder was #17, Harris was #25. OLB- Wake was #4, Thomas was #13. Misi was #7, Pace was #22. CB- Smith was #8, Revis was #18. Davis was #14, Cromarte was #53. S- Bell was #8, Lowery was #24. Clemons was #61, Pool was #25. Seems pretty even to me, with Miami having more room for improvement.
Screw the jets. They are losers. Don't compare our team to theirs like they're some paragon of football awesomeness. Our superiority to the jets is a given.
I'm slightly more realistic, and saw them a win away from the SB while we were all not caring. I see our D as better this year, and Nolan had time to sort things out. The lockout will hurt teams but, NOT THIS DOLPHIN D. We will be kicking some ***, and taking no prisoners. Count on it.
Nice run down Aqua. The Jet's D carried them, and I do not see where our's cannot do the same. There is no big difference.
The Jets running game was/is a lot better than ours. That's one of the reasons why that D "carries" that team.
The jets running game is strong for two reasons: 1. An amazingly healthy offensive line. I don't have the stats, but before Damien Woody was injured, their starting 5 had been healthy longer than any other offensive line in the league. Injuries are flukey. I doubt this health will continue. 2. LaDanian Tomlinson was a beast last year. His age will creep up on him this year. I hope.
I agree. Tomlinson had that chip on his shoulder that says, "I'll show you." That surge is gone now. His age and wear will show even more than last year. (It did show some last year). He won't be a factor. He's done, IMO.
I don't care about these ratings - not really. How did our defense perform as a whole compared to theirs. Not much difference really. And we are much younger team - with a ton more potential. IMO, we will smoke them this season. (IF we have a season,)
Shonn Greene = LaMont Jordan LaMont Jordan looked great when spelling Curtis Martin. When he had to carry the load, he sucked.
I assume you mean Crowder. He was ranked high because of how well he played the run, not for anything else.
While we are all hoping the Jets fall flat on their face. I see no real reason (beyond our own hope) that they fall on their face this year. Granted Sanchez got lucky on many occasions last year to cover up his inadequacies. But, their foundation remains the same. Our best hope is that the injury bug finally catches up to them. Even though they are built for the short term, I still consider this season to be in the short term. The main difference between us and them isn't necessarily talent. Their philosophy is aggressive and plays to win. ours plays to not lose. We'll see if that changes with Sparano/Daboll vs Sparano/Henning.
Excellent offensive line Good running backs (not excellent, just good) Santonio Holmes is an excellent WR. Very good, young pass-catching TE Solid front 7 on defense, made better by their scheme Darrelle Revis is top 3 or 4 CB Good special teams Couple all those points with an aggressive coaching philosophy and it = solid foundation, no matter how you spin it. yes, the salary cap will catch up to them, but even when it does, they will still keep most of the aforementioned plays on the team.
