http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...gers.fan.ap/index.html?sct=hp_t2_a3&eref=sihp This story is sad. His kid was in the stands when it happened. Sad sad story.
Man, how sad is that. How's Josh Hamilton feeling right now? Wow, completely innocent act in tossing the ball to the fan, and then this. You know he's asking himself what if I didn't toss that ball............ And the guy's son..........my god, how does this kid get through a day right now.
Almost exactly a year ago, someone else fell at that same stadium. Luckily he survived. Just a freak thing though. Horribly sad that he was with his young son as well.
God he was concious and talking while being carted out, asking for his son.......i tear up thinking about this. Crazy stuff man. That poor kid.....
Not the first time this happens that I can recall. ****ing rails are too low off the ground. They're more of a tripping hazard to average-height people for ****'s sake.
So what happened to the ball? That's not funny... that's not fun.... very sad indeed. The guy looked really tall, certainly the guy standing next to him who tried to catch him as he fell was much shorter. Some lawyer is already preparing the paperwork for the lawsuit against the team I'm sure. Hopefully they settle out of court and the family gets something substantial from the team and or player. Obviously won't help bring the father back.
Yeah but the space he fell into is so small. (If its the area I think it is) then he could have hit a beam or something, that would be vicious to be honest, and twenty feet is enough to break some bones anyway,.....afterall its 2 stories. There was a guy who died cliff diving the other day, he was doing it with his kids and just hit his head on the rocks.....his ten year old son was already in the water having just jumped and tried to save his dad but he wasn't strong enough. The guy just jumped in the wrong place. His kid has to live with that too, just a ****ed up week for those two kids. Neither of them deserved that.
20 feet isn't a short fall though. Especially onto concrete. My dad fell a bit shorter thru a scaffold onto his elbow and it shattered every bone in his arm. This guy fell on his head. - sent from my EVO 3D -
20 feet is the same as a 2 story building. I wouldn't jump from a 1 story building, let alone 2. That's not a short fall. You can get seriously hurt falling from an 8 foot ladder.
Such a sad story! They were saying that the family doesn't want the Rangers to show the video and Mr. Ryan said they won't show it.
The rangers broadcast didnt even show the video on the first place. The A's broadcast the one who caught it Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
What you need to take into account is 1) he's still accelerating as he hits the floor 2) he's basically pushing with x amount of velocity on a floor with little to no give. 3) He's made of skin and bones. Now think that he fell on his head. Not a little fall anymore I don't think.
My aunt fell from a 7 ft tree and broke her spine. Bones are not metal..................unless you are T-1000
He didn't think he would fall and it's a reaction. It all happens so fast. He has no time to think Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
Its pretty obvious he was just reaching for the ball and overreached. Its not like he was car surfing or something stupid like that.
He didn't jump. He fell. That was his little boy's favorite player. People reach out every night for baseballs. He just lost his balance. It's nobodies fault.
This might be the most ignorant post I have ever read on this forum, and that is saying a while hell of a lot. If you think 20 feet is short, go stand on the top step of a 12 foot ladder and see how confident you feel.
It is sad, but if the ball is out of reach dont lean over a railing to catch it. Its not worth injury or death.
