I agree. When I said Cam and Pryor have a lot of similarities to me, it wasn't exactly heaping praise on Pryor, because I'm far from sold on Newton. I don't see the next Unitas, Moon or Marino with either one. I'd rather take Pryor after the 1st round somewhere, than take Newton 1st overall, given the choice.
As a 7th rounder or UDFA in the supplemental? Eh, fine. Can't hurt that much. Now watch Ireland pony up a 3rd.
A 3rd round pick? We're the Miami Dolphins. We blow 2nd round picks on bad QBs. I don't think Pryor is coming anywhere near the state of Florida, for whatever it's worth. I recall some speculation that Oakland might bid on him, and that makes almost too much sense.
I'm no professional scout or anything, but I watch a lot of college football. And Ohio State is on tv a lot so I've seen Pryor play. And as much as I hate Cam Newton, comparing the two is a joke. Pryor had head and shoulders better talent surrounding him at Ohio State and could never do anything with it. Cam Newton turned a decent football team into a great football team. I don't know that Cam's talents will transfer over to the NFL, but I do know that Pryor's lack of talent will transfer over to the NFL. Say what you want about his mentality, character, maturity, intelligence, etc.; what it all boils down to is can he play? If you can play football you'll always have a spot in the NFL no matter what you've done (see Ray Lewis, Michael Vick, Plaxico Burress, Pacman Jones, etc) and the fact of the matter is the kid can't play. His whole career has been a byproduct of the hype. He's no Cam Newton. Hell he's not Troy Smith or even Vince Young. If Pryor starts 8 games in his whole career in the NFL I will be shocked.
I'm no fan of Pryor after what happened, but Pryor at his best was every bit as dangerous and dominatimg as Cam. The difference was Cam did it consistently and Pryor was Jekyll and Hyde. But after seeing the Gruden camps, I think Pryor has a much better understanding of the QB position from a mental standpoint.
hope this is just a rumor & not ANOTHER stupid pick @ QB by Sparano & Company, although I woulodn't be surprised if it happened. we need to find a veteran with an upside to compete for the start, then if the position is not resolved satisfactorily, next year go after a franchise pick in the draft of 2012.
Watching him on Gruden's QB Camp now. I'll just say this...I have no interest in him and I haven't even seen him do any drills yet. He's not a leader of men.
Personally, I think he has some talent to work with but he doesn't exactly pass the intangibles test. His teammates hated him. I posted about that a long time ago.
it doesn't matter to me when some say Gruden is now annoying to listen to, I love listening to that dude, makes me laugh hard.. he say's to Pryor ''you like sanzenbacher'', he saved you, he recovered your fumble to win the championship, you got MVP of the dang gum game'...., what did he win?, where did he get drafted? Pryor:''he didn't''... Gruden: ''what the hell is wrong with this world''.......''you like sanzenbacher''? Funny as sh$#
Hahaha, it's awesome isn't it? He said in there by the way, that he's going to be back in the NFL. How can you not get fired up with that guy?
Sometimes you can't because he doesn't know when to shut up and stop repeating things. Not to mention, when he takes control of personnel decisions, things don't go all that well. I like him on TV, btw. Not love but like. He was very close to taking the OC job under Chip Kelly in Oregon last summer but opted not to.
Well the fact that the Big 10 is a novelty conference had a lot to do with as well. In the regular season they played 1 team in the final top 25 and lost (Wisconsin 31-18.)
Yeah and that was the only game he didn't have a TD pass in I think. Anyway, I just gotta add this: Am I the only one around here who gives a sh!t about the rules??? Mark it Zero!!!
