3. Starting right guard.... Contestants: Drew Mormino vs. Shawn Murphy (R) vs. Donald Thomas (R) Since all three are young, it's likely that the Dolphins will be searching for the student who learns quickly, retains information, has the core strength needed to open up running lanes, the toughness to play through pain, and the commitment to get better. Class is in session. Do you think we will bring in a vet when camp opens up?
If we want to be technical about it, Beck has the most experience since he's been around since before our OC was selected this year while McCown was signed some time after, so Beck has the most knowledge of the system (unless, of course, if McCown actually has experience in Henning's system).
I think our QB battle is the most interesting of these. A rookie, a 2nd year player that didnt show much last year(not that he had a fair shot to), and a "veteran" who hasnt shown much at all either. This should definately be an interesting one to follow. I really hope Beck or Henne really pull through for us this year.
Omar left out a few names at DE. That will be the battle that I pay most attention to. I think Starks has one side covered and the battle between Holliday, Langford, Wright, Roth and possibly Merling for the other spot and backup duties should be a fun one to watch. As far as bringing in a vet for the RG position. Maybe, but it isn't a major priority IMO. I think Parcells and Co. are comfortable with Mormino and Murphy to let them battle it out.
Actually, I believe they've both been mentioned as DEs, and possible backup NTs, with Dotson being one much farther in the future. I'm guessing if Ferguson gets injured again, Starks will be the first one to get a try at NT because I'm not expecting much from Soliai just yet.
Same thing I heard for Starks at least. I heard he will be a end and part time NT. As for Dotson, I dont know. Thanks.
I predict Mormino has a breakout year(by his standards) and becomes a servicable starter, his talent has always been above average and he has a chance to be coached up and be in a good scheme with Sparano. I really think we will have a pretty good OL this year wich translates into more protection for -----, wich in turn will allow Ginn to get open deep, wich will result in longer drives, wich results in more points, wich produces a better chance to win.
That ILB trifecta battling it out is something Im really looking forward to. Its one of the few spots where we have plenty of talent. Torbor vs ayodele vs crowder should be fun!
