I haven't noticed anyone going gaga over him, I think in your last post the points you have made are what people are considering, and have been contemplating since we drafted Thomas which is, whether or not having two complete backs, {Thomas/Mike Bush}, is better than having the two complimentary backs {Thomas/Reg Bush}..That's why Bradshaw takes the #1 spot imo because he's got a bit more quickness and speed than Mike Bush and is a bit more complimentary than Mike, yet can still play a more complete role over Reggie. I think its a pretty good question..
As much as I want DeAngelo, I would almost be more in favor of us targeting Bush or Sproles for the right price. With DeAngelo/Thomas I see us as a run first team. With someone like Reggie Bush I see us as a pass first team that will be able to spread the ball out a lot more. Even if Bush were to come in and only produce a few hundred yards of total offense, it at least gives us more looks on offense. Imagine a 5WR set with Marshall/Gates/Bess/Bush/Hartline.
LOL! I'd be wary of making serious commitment to Gruden. Especially the kind of financial commitment he'll want in order to lure him away from what he currently does. I think he probably all in all makes like $8-10 million a year....for a quarter of the work. Cowher, I'd consider. I could see him itching for the game and not really that content being at the desk. Hopefully he took his lessons from Pittsburgh. No quarterback = no Super Bowl. Quarterback = Super Bowl. He tried far too long to get by with like Neil O'Donnell (who I suppose wasn't TOTALLY awful), Kordell Stewart, Mike Tomczak, Tommy Maddox, etc. It wasn't until Ben Roethlisberger came along that they got over the hump. Stephen Ross had his pet Carl Peterson approach Cowher while they conducted the Search That Was Not. Cowher said no. Some say it was because Sparano was still on, and I call BS to that. Not reliable sources anyway. Some said it was because he wanted Ireland gone. Possible, but I doubt they would have refused him if that was the problem. Plus, he'd have probably taken another job elsewhere, because some other team would have given him exactly as he wanted. The answer I believe which has been told to me by the most reliable source I know, is that he just wasn't ready to come back this year, needed one more year, and wanted to see the CBA stuff shake out before he makes his return. This one is believable. The last time Bill Cowher was married to a premium quarterback he was 39-15 including a 4-1 playoff record and a Super Bowl title. That has me intrigued, if Miami is able to acquire a premium quarterback in next year's Draft. I realize no Super Bowl winning Head Coach has ever won a Super Bowl with a second team. I'm willing to find out if that's a coincidental combination of insufficient sample size, and/or age factoring in.
Well we do need some X factor types on the offense, no question about it, Bush price to performance ratio and inability to carry a Starting Rb load means he is not a good value imho.
Not one of those players is a slot receiver. They can all play in the slot, but none of them are defined by it. If someone came in and took more slot snaps, it would not be particularly problematic. Davone Bess is not a slot receiver. On paper, he looks like he would be someone like Wes Welker who is less effective outside of it, but last season he was actually more frequently lined up outside of the slot than in it, and he was more productive on a per-snap basis and caught a higher percentage of balls outside of it. Brandon Marshall doesn't need the slot to be effective. He was used heavily there in the past, but it's not as if he was protected or anything by the position. He can run routes outside of the typical slot receiver route tree, and he certainly doesn't have difficulty getting off of a jam. Likewise with Hartline, he's lined up more frequently outside of the slot.
During the off-season Belichick used to be at UF studying Urban Meyer's offense. During the weeks of the regular season, he spoke to Saban. Every week from what I understand.
Hmm I guess he had to return that Heisman because he was too classy to keep it? He's a good option to have around but not at a high priced contract and really with a rookie RB as our main workhorse we need someone that can carry the ball 20 times a game. Bush is a good player but I stand by my character comment and I don't want him on my team. Why is he even available if he's that great for New Orleans? They feel they can win without him easily and I agree. He's a good player but I'd rather have Brown, he can carry the ball 20 times a game if healthy, Bush can't
Can anyone tell me anything Bush has done in the last few years? I still believe that Ginn was more productive but. I can be wrong.
Won a Super Bowl? Why bother comparing 2 players at 2 different positions? Both are unproductive at their listed positions. Both are OK in the return game.
Speaking of this, who says Vince can't win a championship against the pros??? He already won one in the Rose Bowl..
5 to 6 millie, 10 million plus signing bonus. Sal Palantonio reporting Young is headed to Philly..YMMV. If so, Orton goes to the head of the list.
That'd be quite a head-scratched. Obviously Andy Reid would make him look good. And that is a place where players go to the resurrected. But from an opportunity standpoint... - sent from my EVO 3D -
Nah, they will deal Kolb, they feel they are primed for a SB run, Young would love to change his perception around the league so he can pull in that 10 million dollar deal what better place to do it in then Philly were Reid is considered a "Qb Guru"?
Andy Reid quickly turning the Eagles into a halfway house. Feeling a little guilty about his sons, perhaps? Is a head scratcher though, I agree with Muck.
lol Ya that halfway house is gonna generate a 1st and 3rd from someone like AZ. I don't think anyone needs to feel guilty to make an intelligent move.
Mike Vick can teach him how to have people shot in the leg and have President Obama fawning over you within a year. He's a magician.
CK you made some good points today but stay away from politics in the thread. Bush the running back is a bad fit....
As opposed to our team where we can only show people how to get stabbed by your wife and slip on McDonald's bags. And sell minority shares to the Spice Girls.
Bush hasn't lived up to his draft position or contract on the field. But he's been nothing but a high character guy since coming to New Orleans. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/saints/2006-08-24-bush-cover_x.htm
