    Well away from here
Just saw the interview, he basically said the players will vote tonight. They've scheduled a conference call with players and player reps for tonight for 8pm. He didn't come right out and say it, he wavered a little, but he did say it.

Just thought I'd pass along, not sure if mentioned elsewhere.

We knew there was an 8 PM conference call, but Pitts saying there'll be a vote is new.

De Smith has been on the phone with Goodell trying to figure out how to lift the lockout if both sides vote tonight.

Right, the owners want recertification before lifting the lockout, but players want to recertify at the facilities or during training camp, is what I read. So they are trying to settle that issue.

Yeah I think the owners are just weary of lifting before the threat of antitrust suits are over, meaning recert. by NFLPA. Justifiably so I'd say at this point. I'm sure it will be worked out soon though. Makes sense to me that the owners lift tonight, with the promise each player signs their card within 24 hours at the facility or something along those lines.

De Smith just popped in behind Mort while he was doing a live report. He had a big grin on his face, and while he didn't have much of a comment beyond that the owners should be sending over final documentation that the players will review.

The smile on his face certainly made me feel good about the chances of a deal tonight.

Ugh, and now John Clayton comes on saying that it doesn't sound like the lockout will be lifted until the union is re-certified, which won't be until next week.

Calender with details of "offseason" schedules following Union re-certification is being distributed to the press. Should be out there somewhere soon. Calender of events really depends on players at this point.

The union must re-certify or, there is no deal. The reason behind that is that if there is no union, future incoming players can file anti-trust suits. This is the last major stumbling block.

lol I like that he says that before the players vote comes out so that if they vote against it they're the ones holding it up.

    Bucket o' cold water.....applied:

"“As you know the Owners have ratified their proposal to settle our differences,” the e-mail states. “It is my understanding they are forwarding it to us. As you may have heard, they apparently approved a supplemental revenue sharing proposal. Obviously, we have not been a part of those discussions. As you know from yesterday, issues that need to be collectively bargained remain open other issues such as workers compensation, economic issues and end of deal terms remain unresolved. There is no agreement between the NFL and the Players at this time. I look forward to our call tonight.”"

Maybe, maybe not. No one cares. The owners are ready to give the fans their football. At this point, that's all that matters.

    Jeffrey Kessler's reaction?

The players were ready to give fans their football by continuing to play under the old CBA, so don't give me any of that crap.

One side ratifying a proposal that includes provisions that have not yet been agreed to is completely shameless, and that's being kind.

The owners are smart. Some may have been born with money, but dammit they know how to keep it. Power play or not, they have succeeded in shifting the majority of public opinion. Majority rules in the court of public opinion.
