I bought it yesterday out of a combination of bordom and a desire to justify my Xbox360 purchase. I only played two games, however I really like it. Running is a lot of fun because I can actually follow the blockers and if they are good they hold their blocks. If my runningback is tackled it actually makes some sense because I see the defensive linemen fight off the block and make the tackle. I thought it was really neat.
NCAA >>>>>>>>>>>> Madden I wish it were the other way around because I like pro football more than college football, but whattaya do?
Played the demo again, then popped in the last NCAA I bought, NCAA09, and don't see the need to upgrade honestly. They are both fun games, but 12 didn't blow me away.
The NCAA demos are generally poor representations of what the full game will be like from my experiences. To get a full sense of whether or not you want to upgrade I would rent the game or bum a friend's game for a bit. I'm generally not someone who thinks any game that releases yearly is worth $60 but the NCAA series comes the closest to being worth the price. Plus if you look around hard enough you can usually find a deal making the game well worth the price.
True, but I think I will pass as I still want FCS teams back in the game (what can I say, didn't have the chance to go to an FBS school lol). Plus, any game has a hard time taking me away from Halo these days!
I *****ed about the demo (above) and have to stay this is a stand out game. I passed up last year's iteration (actually haven't owned one since 08..played them all though) and this one is SOLID as a mofo. Deffinetly worth a look. Especially if you can get it for $40.00 (BB had a deal, as did amazon).
Sorry for hijacking but: Is $95 a good price for me to sell my old 360 on craigslist? It was before hdmi and has a 20gb hdd.
I think my last NCAA game was 2005 but going pick this one up and give it a spin before Madden releases, my PSN is Starry31 if anyone wants to add me. I know there's a XBox league, anything going for the PS3?
You're on my list. We should play sometime. I'll consider playing in a league, but I kind of doubt it. The madden league took a lot of my time 2 years ago :P Plus I stank
For those who don't have the game yet, walmart.com has the game for $60 plus a $25 e-gift certificate. http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3120558
I'm in Minneapolis right now, but I'm from Ames. I'll be playing in the Iowa Games this weekend. You live in Ames?
Madden league took time? heh I have notepad files with all kinds of stats and I wrote down every single roster move I ever made. Think that's one reason I enjoyed the online franchise, I could be obsessive. Hopefully I can either join or create a Madden 12 Franchise but who knows. Yeah, we should get a game or two in when we're both on. I'm not too great with NCAA so far though (already making excuses). What team do you use? I haven't messed with the playbook editor yet but if I play NCAA long enough I'm sure I will, I wish that would have been a feature in Madden 10.
When is a patch getting released for this game. The freezing is ****ing ridiculous. Can't play an online dynasty game without freezing at the startup screen 5 times...
If you're freezing at the intro of games, I fixed my problem. Apparently, every play in my custom playbooks vanished when I went into the offseason of my online dynasty, and trying to play a game with no plays caused the freezing.
Anyone else having the issue in Road to Glory mode of not being able to win the Heisman? Three straight years my quarterback has had had better stats than the QB that won the award. I even was named first team All-American all 3 of those years, as well as all the other awards possible. Is this a glitch, or have I just been unlucky?
I would say yes also. I didn't play 2011, but i own 2010 and its a huge upgrade. I love running the ball and tackling is alot of fun also. I dont play online I just doing Dynasties. I have tried the road to glory and that is fun as well but i dont play it as much
I'm in same boat. Went out and bought NCAA 12 lol. I played '10 forever (up until today I guess you can say) and its a huge upgrade for sure. Started a dynasty with WVU.
I really wish they put this gameplay in Madden. I barely follow college football (besides UCF), but I would play this game over madden anyday. One thing i don't like about Ncaa '12 (atleast so far) is that the recruiting seems pretty lame and time consuming.
I don't think recruiting is time consuming. I break it down like so... if you're fighting to get someone, then manually call him. But if you're certain you're going to get someone, then auto-call. Usually for guys where I am the only one who offered them a scholarship, I just auto-call them. It takes me all but five minutes to recruit.
Yeah its really not that bad when it comes to time. Also you will find a huge difference if you actually take some time to find guys and pick certain ones. There are several things to look at that the computer won't. The Beginning of recruiting is the longest but after like 2 weeks it goes by really fast
What are some of your guys strategies when recruiting players? Do you go juts by stars? Looks at their speed? What are some things you guys have found success with in recruiting? I usually Offer recruits scholarships right off the bat and I do what you guys said. If I think i already have them I will just auto call. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong but I am in week 12 and have only 1 hard signing, with a bunch of guys that I am 1st for but won't give me a commitment.
I havent owned an NCAA game since NCAA 07 (lol, yes, old), but i LOVED recruiting. Took me about 10 mins, if that. When I recruited, Speed was my #1 for WRs and CBs. Most QBs I had also had speed in the low 80s because I didnt like playing in the pocket. My dline went by speed + strenght as well.
The Biggest thing Is to find players that fit your system on offense or Defense. There are a lot of things to look for but most ppl focus on 2-3 things. For example CB's Do you play Man or Zone? Do you want them to play the ball or be able to tackle more? WR's Speed and Acceleration are the biggest factors that I look for. QB's Throwing power and Accuracy. This year it doesn't help to have a scrambling QB because of fatigue. Those are just to name a few Speed is a factor but the speed threshold depends on how much that is effected. The 1 star dynasty we have going I can't be picky. Only rule is I don't go after 1 star guys (excludes FB). They are a waste of time and roster space.
Skeet's Recruiting checklist: Quarterback that can scramble and will throw 500 times each season Running back that can catch well and is willing to get maybe 50 rushing attempts each season Wide Receiver that will is willing to be the #3 guy but lead the league in receiving yards
I usually narrow my board down to 20 people. I offer them scholarships right off the bat and unless they're REALLY good they only get 30 minutes of my time the first two weeks. After that I gauge how much time is spent on each recruit on how far I am from #1, how many other scholarships the recruit has been offered, and who I am competing with for said player. Also what I like to do is week 2 check out who hasn't been offered a scholarship from my home state (or any pipeline state) and then start chasing after them.
That use to be very true about my QB. However that has changed. My RB has got a lot of carries this year (at least a lot in my offense)!!!! If I can throw for 600 yards and 6 Td's why not? I do what I do and I do it well. I spread the ball around to all my players
