Look if you don't think that the best way to get a franchise qb is to not get the very best possible prospect in the following draft or the ability to draft the best one on their board. We will just have to agree to disagree.
Uhm ... no. And no. Of course it's better for a franchise to pick at, say, #5. You'll likely get a better player, not only in the first round but in all subsequent rounds, too. The advantage of drafting #14 is exactly what? Having won a couple more games that in the grand scheme of things mean zip all? Being mediocre is the worst possible thing to be in the NFL as it hampers your ability to acquire young talent without providing a single tangible advantage, unless you're a fan and particularly need to fistpump over a couple of meaningless wins. I'd much rather go 1-15 than 7-9 again.
Wouldn't it be fun if Pat Devlin turned out to be our Tom Brady? Then someday we could all look back on these debates and arguments and have a good laugh about it. Karma finally decided to shine it's light on the Doiphins, we'd all say. Then Devlin could lead us to a few championships, get a super model gf, be hated by the fans of all other teams. Life would be looking pretty darned good.
I'd wager the guess that some of us would eventually be bored out of their minds. Actually, sucking is what makes this whole thing fun. I certainly wouldn't mind a title or two but I'd prolly be bored out of my skull if we managed an NE like dynasty. Just look at any given NE boards: it's a bandwaggoner-filled snoozefest.
Very true, but you can also say you give yourself the best chance of finding a great quarterback by taking the best quarterback in the draft.
Better grab some Pepto while there's still time. Amen and I have a case of Pepto oh wait we dont have Ocho or Joey Porter . WE will all be sick if the fins bring in someone worse then Henne and knowing our front office is lible to do that very thing gives me a headache
Contract talks w/ fins http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...iami-dolphins-kyle-orton-0728,0,6707902.story
Maybe we did? And I think the Cardinals will wind up trading for Kolb. They'll give up a 2nd round pick and probably DRC for him, I'd imagine. I think Miami will trade a 3rd round pick for Orton and sign him to a new deal.. 4 year, $25 million or something. From there I'd guess we'll sign Ahmad Bradshaw and go bargain shopping for a few other positions. In the end, this is how I see things playing out.
I don't see Miami signing Ahmad Bradshaw. I think he winds up with the New York Giants. I think Miami goes a different route at RB. Marion Barber has been insinuated as coming to Miami and I wouldn't be surprised with that acquisition. If Miami spends on a RB, I could see it being Reggie Bush, rather than Deangelo Williams or Ahmad Bradshaw.
If Miami wants Bradshaw and is willing to give him a fair offer, he'll come here. However I could see them being stingy and settling on Marion Barber or Reggie Bush.
You are positive about all that before they even play the 2011 season? Were you predicting Cam Newton as #1 overall one year ago as well?
Broncos QB Kyle Orton, who is talking to multiple teams, also remains interested in restructuring to stay in Denver, sources say. - Darlington Twitter
Please do! I do not want to see Neck Beard on this team! IMO, he's not any better than Henne at this point, but that's be argued for 19 pages already.
I don't mean to call out you in particular Chris, but I really question if some of you have watched Kyle Orton play... I don't see how ANYONE can argue that "he's no better than Henne" right now. There is no question who the better quarterback is.
Schefter through Shelley Smith out in Denver, was just on saying that if Denver doesn't get the right compensation (from Miami presumably) they're prepared to keep Orton and have him compete directly with Tebow for the starting job. Brady Quinn would then be the odd man out.
I really doubt they do that. I think that's just Denver trying to keep some form of leverage. Orton cost too much to just sit on the bench.
Everyone is re-tweeting that Orton post from Michelle Beisner saying Orton to Miami could be done in 6 hours. I like Orton, but I'm interested to see what the price is. Anything above a 3rd round pick and I'm wishy-washy. Anything involving a pick that high and a player, I'm not happy.
You mean cause I don't flip flop from thread to thread makes me unintelligent. I see you rolling over daily in this place. Your opinions change like the weather bro. The only things you are consistent on is you hatred for our QB and your insatiable love for Brandon Marshall. One day this team sucks and your dumping your Ticket and boycotting everything next day your head over heels in love again. It doesn't take an intelligent person to understand you're a fence dweller.
So because someone is always grasping for more knowledge and using that to form opinions is a "fence dweller"? I'll tell you this our country would be far better served if people continued to learn and educate themselves to continue to form and change opinions rather than having a stance and being stubborn about trying to learn the truth.
Depending on the pick I have a hard time believing the won't just simply pencil him in as the starter before camp even really gets going. Henne would probably have to do much better to win his job back.
in the mcdaniel article by barry jackson it also says that we received permission to talk to his agent about restructuring, man could this mean we are on level with denver about the compensation ?
http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/43913147/ns/sports-player_news/ ugh, this is either going to be a waste of talent in Henne or we're going to be paying a backup 8mil a year. I still want to see Henne start from game 1. Btw, Orton drives a prius. wtf
AdamSchefter Adam Schefter Dolphins and Broncos engaged in trade talks that would send Kyle Orton to Miami. Both teams would like to make it happen. 15 minutes ago
So, he's environmentally responsible. I'm not downing him on that. Tom Brady looks like a chick, and I'm sure NE isn't complaining.
