Courtesy of: http://forums.denverbroncos.com/showthread.php?p=3846313#post3846313 Via: http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/ Did not know he had a home in S Florida. Down to the contract and the Broncos fans sound like they are interested in Merling. And he is making his NFLN appearance right about now
I'd be surprised if Merling were part of the discussions after having just acquired Jeremy Jarmon, who is a DE.
I hate to say it, but...I mean...let's say we do acquire Kyle Orton and Ahmad Bradshaw. We could have been looking at having...ah hell I won't even bother with it.
In case you missed the latest Orton news on NFL network, here's the link. Although Orton isn't my top choice for the Dolphins, I am excited about him coming in Miami because he clearly understands what the Beast can do when you feed him the football. He is by far our greatest playmaker and we must get him the ball. He should be a significant part of every gameplan. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-total-access/09000d5d8210614d/Orton-swimming-with-the-Dolphins If we have Orton to Marshall success this year I say no less than 11 wins
Well I am not a fan of Orton , not in the way I think our QB situation is resolved , but it looks like this is happening. So ... if we can escape with giving a 3rd rounder and say merling , then I would be ok with it ... at least it wouldn't be an overpayment or take away from resources we may want to use to properly address the QB position , and it will give Orton a chance to show he can deliver more than I expect. Thanks for all the updates pads !
could you please finish, just for fun sakes, that we all can laugh about it, when bradshaw resigns with the giants and orton gets traded to arizona
Someday Merling will get moved inside, and gain some weight and he'll be a good 4-3 DT or maybe even Nose. I still laugh at you guys that thought that fat butt could be an OLB.
IDK, Phil Merling looks like an over stuffed kelbasa...he may be maxed out weight wise... BTW, the Broncos forum will have more up to date stuff as they have sources as well and Fox is not paranoid like Irish and Sparano.
La Canfora just said on NFLN asked what he expects out of the Kyle Orton situation...."i expect him to be a dolphin", he also said we are getting bradshaw earlier....DO IT JEFF !!!
If we got Orton and Bradshaw, that's a vast improvement. Bring in a 3rd back on the cheap and Leonard Davis and call it an offseason on that side of the ball.
Denver has a very poor DL so it doesn't matter who they sign......they need more bodies. With Tony re-signing it makes sense. Of course I am always wrong so feel free to quote my Merling post from this morning if I am.
Nothing cooking this evening as a poster on the broncos forum found out Orton returned to team meetings this evening... No soup for you!
so like i just wrote La Canfora is on NFLN and he has this board behind him, you see who is number one on his running back chart....
Man read teh broncos forum they cant wait for Orton to be gone. Sound like Henne haters here LOL. Darlington says the situ is fluid can happen in minutes or hours says that it would be a true comp between Orton and Henne. Henne would have edge early cause has Dabolls playbook. On NFL Network total access just now. Said Bradshaw told him it is us or giants and wont put 1 ahead of teh other right now. cant wait suspense killing me
It's not alphabetical. Heres a Orton update nothing new. http://www.nfl.com/videos/denver-broncos/09000d5d8210047a/Is-Orton-on-the-move
Denver tried to sign McDaniel also. Definitely think Merling is in those talks. He can play the Starks role for them. LOL at bronco fans thinking they can get Starks.
Orton's best games were against the low end teams. 3 TDs, 0 Ints. But when he played against better teams, it was ugly. Been that way his entire 6 year career. At least we can say for Henne, that, although inconsistent, he played well against some good teams, and during his two (a little less than two) years as a starter, he has endured top three toughest schedules in football. I guess what I'm getting to, in short, I don't see Orton being that big of an upgrade - if at all -and at what price? I just don't grasp the excitement about this that some are getting.
no one can make this looking bad for me now, i´m pumped about GTR8´s remarks, trash him but i want my orton now..again....DO IT JEFF !!!!
I dont think Orton is a clear cut upgrade that some do, but he is viable competition. For a 3rd at most, it is decent value. Henne needs true comp and Orton for that price or better is the best option IMO. VY no way, Kolb too expensive and been the Philli route before. So it is Orton or henne is it. I like Henne but he isnt proven
Hate to tell you, but that stands true for most QBs. How many QBs have had good games vs the jets, ravens lately? Having said that, I agree, slight upgrade. But if we upgrade the rest of the team + slight upgrade of QB = CHAMPIONSHIP! j/k, it could be 5th or 6th seed in playoffs
someone just said the Bengals are pursuing a trade for Palmer so i hope its true but its probally just wishful thinking if its a possible thing then make it happen and forget Orton.
