Only one offensive player did they throw money at, Wilford, otherwise they may as well not bother with Miami as they do not get into bidding wars for them.
Im not so sure on this one anymore. Just logged onto facebook, and see that the Dolphins have renewed contract talks with Ronnie Brown courtesy of the Dolphans Bandits: https://www.facebook.com/MIAMIDOLPHINSBANDITS
Dolphins aren't going to give him more money than the Giants. They'll give 30 million to Jake Grove....but not someone worth it. And he's probably just flirting with Miami to get more money from the Giants. It happens with FA's every year. We may have a Ricky/Ronnie encore, hopefully with a better O-Line.
Took the words out of my mouth. When I read that John Clayton is reporting that the Dolphins are "negotiating with Ronnie Brown" - it made me want to puke. I loved Ronnie in his prime but a) he's past his prime; b) he's injured a bunch; and c) he's basically a duplicate to Daniel Thomas - but arguably a bit slower.
I knew it, damn, the Jets will do all sorts of stuff to keep Holmes, we do not do anything like that to make a move, in fact we go the other way and penny pinch and miss guys..
Don't worry, Fins signed Jason Trusnik. SUPER BOWL! (Actually if he was signed by the Patriots he could become a pro bowler....but it's the Dolphins)
Pretty damn frustrating. no doubt. Have to wonder though, was Bradshaw just using us all along to up the Giants offers similar to Ryan Clark from Pitt a few years ago. Either way Im tired of us being linked to lots of nice signings and never being able to pull the trigger
Premature? First, we have no idea what the terms were that the Giants offered. Second, it felt like we were getting used the whole time. Are you certain we had a shot at him, w/o doing something crazy like paying him top 5 RB money? And no, that wouldnt be considered "penny pinching".
Do you believe they wouldn't have offered the same contract at Marshall in free agency? I think you mean skill player, right? They've all-too-famously thrown money at their fair share of linemen too. They've paid four of them and dropped the #1 on the fifth.
they cant pay that guy D-Will money or close to it, I am sorry but 7 million with 20+ guarnteed for a 3rd down RB is just plain foolish......I dont know that thats the payday but it is just under what Williams got...... now if the numbers come out, and the Giants spent like 5 on him with 15 guarnteed, then yes I will be pissed...
can't see all the fascination with Bradshaw......good back but everyone here acts like he is some amazing talent. just don't see it
i don´t know about "amazing" but he is clearly a young gifted back that could be very very good, i see marshall faulk 2.0 with a little less speed
he's a strong and shifty back....but and I know most will think I'm crazy!!....Ronnie Brown offers much more versatility at the RB position at a much cheaper rate. IDK why we are ditching one of the best offensive players we've had in the last 5 or so years just because. He hasn't been "amazing" at a consistent level but we all know what Brown can do with the right opportunities. I've seen him just like everyone else here dominate at his position and I think if Henne deserves a chance under a new OC so does Brown
Saying Brown is the best offensive player we have had in the last 5 years or so would seem like a rather tepid endorsement. It's not like he is facing stiff competition for that title. I like Brown; but he is 29 and ( according to Pat Kirwen's book - Take Your Eyes Off the Ball ) 30 is the new cliff for RB's in terms of productivity. So signing him to any sort of long term deal is unlikely from the GM side. Where as Bradshaw is 25 I believe. So he still has plenty in the tank if you sign him to a big money, long term contract. I FEEL like Bradshaw is faster than Brown as well. So I think he gives a bit more big play potential, but that is all based on my feeling and no substantive data. So feel free to completely ignore or disregard this point. EDIT: Would you care to elaborate on why you feel Brown is "much more" versatile than Bradshaw?
no question we need to add depth and quality to our RB stable (either Bradshaw or Barber will likely end up here) -- but Orton would instantly make us a challenger THIS year. I have and still remain a believer that Henne can and will be a winner in this league - with or without the PHINS .... but Orton can walk in here and instantly make us better, with a small 'adjustment period'. Orton was predicted at the end of last season -- of any QB that was most likely to come our way. I just don't want to give up both a 2d and a 3d for him.
Justin Blalock is who I'd prefer. He's a better option at LG, than Dahl or Davis. Incognito could move to RG which is more his best position.
Ugh...really, the same Orton kicked out of Chitown and Denver... I don't see how he makes us that much better. His last two starting seasons were 7-9 and 8-8. Certainly if we have to give up more than a 4th, it's simply not a good move...it's a move of desperation by Sparano and Ireland. I don't see us challengers with NE and the jests obviously in front of us...
I've stood by the idea that he isn't leaving the New York Giants. I'm actually surprised and delighted that the Dolphins made a substantial offer to try and get him here.
before the numbers came i out i was hoping for 10 million more, seattle i think with carolina and tampa has the most cap space in the league or at least before the transactions began
so JLC asked about the big name RB´s still out there still mentioned ahmad bradshaw...maybe there is still hope
