wanting something just because someone else got it is not a form of leverage. at all. No team has shown anything close to the sort of interest in orton as the Cardinals did for Kolb,
Sparano and Henning. Sparano would bench him only to turn to him in desperation. Henning would regularly have him going through play action fakes on 3rd and long, dump off to Ronnie Brown on 4th and 26, etc. They crapped on his confidence, which is why I think we actually do get Orton, because Orton's used to being crapped on.
I've said nothing about Orton you wouldn't hear from any other Denver fan. He's a very solid pocket QB, but he struggles on 3rd down and in the red zone, which I've already stated here. And yes, if he were to stay here, he'd kick Tebow's butt, which he's doing at camp right now. If he stays, he starts. Nobody can stop him.
Is your a$$ jealouse of the $h!t that just came out of your mouth what about kyler orton is mediocre? It must be his 87.4 passer rating last year, or is it the fact he had more than 3,000 yards passing last year, he tossed a mediocre 20 tds last year. He did all that and didn't play all 16 games last year. Kyle Orton is going to come to miami and kill it.
According to this article just published, the hangup isn't compensation to the Broncos but rather Orton's contract.
I don't get it. At least VY, head case and all, has a winning record as a starter. Orton has lead his last two teams to 7-9 and 8-8 records... and has been or is being dumped by both of them... Just about the same as Henne has been doing for us... I don't see how anyone can be overly excited about acquiring another mediocre QB... Let me guess..we'll give up yet another 2nd round pick for yet another mediocre QB....
Well now, both sides have publicly dug in, this may boil down to Orton taking a paycut and staying in Denver, or being released outright, or the Broncos take the last deal we offered.
100% agree. Orton does not make us better than the Jets or the Patriots. Henne doesn't either, but Henne has more upside and hes already on this team. Ride this season out with Henne IMO, and go for Landry Jones, Andrew Luck, or Matt Barkley if Henne doesn't turn it around. Why commit anything to Orton? Why?
Vince young is not a good qb. He is a head case he is not what we want to start another rebuilding process around kyle orton is like chad pennington he is a good solid qb he's not going to lose the game for us denver wasn't a good team last year but kyle orton still put up solid number better then vince young.
I still think we have the better side to this deal. We don't NEED him, and they seem to have to get rid of him.
Just heard interview with Orton and he said "what's in the past is in the past" when asked if being out on the field with Denver was an issue with all the trade talks from yesterday. After that byte, the interviewer said that she'd heard that the deal is not done yet... FYI...(btw, NFLN)
I think his rating is pretty damned impressive with the poor pass protection he head. I also think that it was pumped up somewhat because Denver had so many injuries in the backfield, that the running attack was severely hobbled and overly relied on the pass.
Perhaps you're right, I'd say the same thing about Henne and the Fins the last two years...our surrounding team has not been very good for him... I agree VY is a head case...He hasn't shown anything to make anyone think he's over that problem. I'm not a proponent of VY either, I just think that Orton is a nice QB, but so was Jay Fiedler... Just heard interview with Orton and he said "what's in the past is in the past" when asked if being out on the field with Denver was an issue with all the trade talks from yesterday. I'm probably more jeolous of that line, is that even a sentence or is it a jump back and kiss myself moment? I'm probably just more under the sway of the idea that a quarterback in today's NFL has to be able to avoid the first wave of rushers, which neither Henne nor Orton can accomplish currently. I'd rather go down in a hail of gunfire than go through another decade of mediocrity...
I think a pretty appropriate thing to say considering the circumstances. Some of the posters on the Broncos forums felt this was kind of ominous. The team still treats him as the starting QB while he's here, and he's considering himself the same while he's here... And he's kicking Tebow's butt again.
If the " If he stays, he starts" is accurate , then he isn't staying , Denver wants Tebow to play , and Orton backing him up would not be a good situation , regardless of the cost , cap implications , imo.
Bttom line is kyle orton better than any qb we have on the roster right now the last solid qb was chad pennington. Vince young is a head case he isn't good. He is a a second string qb. I see people on here saying they are tired of the dolphins taking risks if we go with vince young we will just have another failed risk. Kyle orton is a good solid qb and we will have a chance to make the playoffs with him as our qb
If he stays, he does start. He will because Tebow can't beat him and Quinn is a joke. Regardless of other circumstances in the situation, it boils down to that.
Sure Vince Young would be a risk but at least we wouldnt be sinking draft picks into getting him. If he sucks, cut him loose.
Are you a converted Oakland fan? The getup in your avatar is suited for one of the Raider Nation lunatics.
I'm interested to know why people ould rather have vince young of kyle orton? Don't say because of draft picks......because we waste those every year. If you want to get a good qb going to have to give up some draft picks
Something about being able to avoid the rush, possibly the most efficient downfield passer, being able to run the ball, being able to ad lib, no draft pick compensation, better record than Orton, rookie of the year, pro bowl, faster, stronger, less injury prone, younger, higher ceiling, and doesn't look like Dave Grohl... Oh, and would you and nyuk nyuk please get a room.
You guys act like everybody we draft becomes a probowler. We waste draft picks on qbs all the time chad henne pat white john beck for some recent examples. We spend a 3rd and a 4th round pick on kyle orton ok I would do that in a heart beat. We get a solid qb in kyle orton that will keep us in the game and won't lose games for us either
We have a good oline he won't need to avoid the rush, I guess vince young is better the peyton manning sense peyton manning can avoid the rush either. You guys can stop using draft picks as a reason because we waste draft picks all the time. Giving up draft picks to get kyle orton is a good deal. So what if vince young has a better record kyle orton has better stats then vinve young and he has been on worse teams. Rookie of the year means nothing so toss that out the window. Kyle orton is better then vinve young I'm on my can't look it up on my phone look up the stats yourself
Kanye takes risks and they payoff. Taking vince young wouldn't be a risk it would just be plain stupid
