I like it- fresh face, fresh motivation. Crowder will probably do well with a change of scenery as well. I like the 95 tackles last year for Burnett, you like to see that kind of production and durability out of your MLB

Wait a minute!!! There must be some kind of mistake. Burnett is a very good player, and I thought none of them were going to want to sign with Miami because of the coaches being on such thin ice? How can this be? DolfanJake? Can you please explain this for me?

I don't think this is aggressive at all. Crowder was cut when the Burnett talks heated up. It wasn't a matter of cutting Dansby, calling Burnett, and then refusing to let him leave without signing on the dotted line: they were already talking to him before Crowder was cut.

Nick Barnett would have been an aggressive move.

Based on PFF, and NFL ratings, he was not good in coverage last year, and worse in 09. He is one of the best pass rushers for ILB but, from what I see, that's about it.

I'm not defending Crowder but, would like to see a more complete replacement.

 

We should have done this four years ago.

he is good in coverage, sometimes numbers dont tell the whole story, we have two pretty good ILB that both can cover and rush i would say, can they stop the run effectively is the question

 

They already know them from Dallas-days. Only possible reason. No one in their right mind comes here otherwise. Except Reggie Bush.

 

not many 3-4 LB corps with 2 complete ILBs...infact, I cant think of Any. Dansby is a complete player. Burnett is good against the run and is a good pass rusher. something we needed. crowder was good at run defense...thats it..

 

I know a hole I'd like to fill.....that lady from NFLN.

 

10-6 very doable if we are top 5 in scoring defense.

 

Good signing. I just wish Ireland was as good on the other side of the ball. I still hate what we do on offense, but damn, this dude can build a D at least.

Crowder was always amusing, I'm sure the reporters will miss him dearly, but the only impact play I think he ever made was that INT Brady threw right to him while being taken down by Wake. Weclome to Miami, Kevin Burnett. I look forward to some game-changing plays!

Still need some pieces BPK, a Vet running back is a good idea, maybe a vet RG, and Te would be nice.

And so much is riding on Henne's performance and I can't help shaking the feeling that he is a 17 yr old going to take his first drivers' license test..you just don't know how it will turn out...

 

Great signing ... bring in a SB winner -- maybe even with some 'class' ...

we will not miss Crowder one bit .... even if the PATSIES sign him ...

Pads, i'm not as worried about Henne ... while he won't be all world - i think he can be consistent enough to get us there. last year was his 17 yo deer-in-the-headlights year for a multitude of reasons ... not this year. He can't get put in a worse spot than he was last year.

 

What is so special about Nick Barnett?

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins have agreed to terms with ILB Kevin Burnett on a four-year contract.



One of the league's most overlooked linebackers, Burnett graded out exceptionally well in Pro Football Focus' ratings the past two years in San Diego. Though recently released Channing Crowder has been premier a run defender, he was liability in coverage. Burnett provides a significant upgrade, likely at a similar price. The Bills will have to turn to Plan C at linebacker.

 

Crowder is smart

 

One thing PFF doesn't tell with their coverage rankings is the plays where a defender had his man so well covered, the pass was not attempted in his direction.

 

Same as JJ was, though not so one sided either as JJ. He was the one who could spot and land defensive talent. When it came to offense he was far worse than Ireland.
