1) Lou Polite will be cut. They will have to find a way to have Reggie Bush and a power back on the field at the same time if they expect Reggie out there for most 1st and 2nd downs. Lou doesn't offer enough running threat to be the other back out there. No way they put a bae-I out there with Bush as the main back. They have to put Bush out there with another viable running option. The cut happens once they see enough out of Clay to feel he could fill in for Polite in the I-form in spot situations. 2) Matt Moore wins the QB competition in camp, the players prefer him, but Henne still starts opening day because Ireland and Ross want to give Henne a last chance. (assuming Orton DOESN'T join the team....) 3) Mike Nolan's defense takes a step backward in performance. Mike's history when he takes over squads is that they significantly improve in year one, then decline thereafter. I'm betting on history repeating itself. Which is a big guess, considering that Burnett upgrdes Crowder, Wake returnns with more experience, as do Vontae Davis and Sean Smith. Odrick shows up. Starks hopefully moves back to end and Soliai has another year under his sizeable belt. Ditto for Clemons and Rasahd Jones. It SHOULD be a BETTER defense... But I'll still bet on history. Also, defenses tend to overperform when they have zero faith in the offense, like last year. They know ANY score by the opponent means the team will lose. Since I expect the offense to be slightly better this year, I don;t see the D feeling a gun to their head to overperform the same way as last year. With Bush on the team, the D also knows there's a chance of ST's scores. 4) Sparano messes with the Oline too much again.. including trying Pouncey at Center AND Guard. I hate that Pouncey is listed as C/G on our roster. It makes me cringe. Tony has constantly fiddled with the interior line. Lines run on chemistry. I think we've had 4000 combinations of players in there since Tony started and I expect that to continue... as will our interior run problems as a result. Tony's a former OL coach and just can;t keep his hands off this unit. and it will hurt us again. 5) 2011 Will Be the NFL Season for defense to make a comeback! The lack of offseason and no time to learn playbooks means two things: more offensive mistakes, and more vanilla offenses compared to usual years. These things will work in favor of defenses, imo. Offenses take more time and mechanics to get 'right'. Defenses can gel with less practice time. Because of this, I think this season FAVORS teams that are more defensive, like ours. Good thing, as a lot of other stuff is not in our favor. 6) The Dolphins will surprise us next week by acquiring Orton As long as he doesn't absolutely dazzle in Broncos practices, there is still motivation to move Orton on their side. On our side, a few days of watching Henne and Moore will be sobering enough for Sparano, Ireland and co. that we'll pony up the money Orton wants. [as someone pointed out, this means Henne won't be starting in game one! That's true, if my guess here is true. If We don;t get Orton, then Henne starts. Moore would take over from Henne at some point anyways.] What guesses do you have about the next few days?
Just noticed my 4 things became 6 things. lol. Either I can't count, or I am long winded... maybe both.
cant think of any right now but i sure hope your are wrong on 4) pouncey should be here tomorrow, if sparano didnt learn from last year he doesnt deserve to be a HC in this league, one week of shifting at most and then before or after evaluating tape after the 1st preseason game this unit should be fixed and not mixed around anymore
Honestly- I can't write anything that makes an effort to predict what this front office will do. I HOPE we aren't done adding new faces. Teams are still making cuts, so some quality names are basically being let go due to salary cap. I get the feeling we aren't done pursuing Orton either, I don't know, just think it is a great effort towards making us a playoff team. I don't think the defense takes a step back, I think they will be solid and hopefully we create more TO's this year. I don't think we hear much from Matt Moore to be honest. I think if Henne has any gumption, whatsoever, he does well enough thru camp to keep any discussion of Moore starting to a minimum.
My guesses: -Oline remains remarkably consistent, there will not be the lineup juggling we have seen in times past as there is not the time for it, I expect a Vet will be brought in mid way through camp as JJ and Feinga are not going to win the RG job outright (think Nick Kaczur, Brian Waters, Leonard Davis) -Vern Carey will be waived, Nate Garner will take his slot. -Reshad Jones will win the Starting FS slot -Will Allen surprises everyone and wins the starting nickel Cb job. -AJ Edds will receive praise for his football IQ. -there will be one in camp trade involving a Dlinemen for a draft pick OLB/DE Antonio Spears turns out to be a Gem.
- nic grigsby makes the team - cobbs is cut (would be not that big of a surprise though) - we resign ronnie - charles clay will turn heads - devlin outplays brandstater for the 3rd QB - Soliai and Wake get a long term deals
I don't think our defense will have any more confidence in our offense than they did last year. I don't see this unit declining. Too young and too hungry with too good a leader (Dansby). If Will Allen can earn the nickel spot and Jones/Bell are sharing snaps, this may be the most confident ive been in our secondary since Suratin/Madison/Marion. Just can't see this unit decline at all. -Brian Hartline loses snaps to Gates. -Henne wins the QB competition easily. -DT starts at RB -Reshad Jones starts -i Could easily see Vernon cut.
I heard from a Bills fan at work that they were gonna let Whittner walk. I'd be a very happy camper if we made that signing. Otherwise: -we resign Ronnie and play him at FB -Nic Grigsby makes the team -we try Roberto Wallace at TE and Carey at guard
LOL yeah I know!!! I'm bored and I came to the Orton conclusion spontaneously about halfway through the list!!! Added it. lol. Totally invalidates my Henne point. My main point with Henne is that if it's between him and Moore, they'll let Henne start regardless of training camp. Obviously if Orton comes, he starts. I'll go back and add an IF clause.
Wow, cut Vernon! I think it depends on if he looks sloppy, overweight, and gassed. Also if his back is holding out okay. Man, I don't like that cut. Don;t see Bell being supplanted. I see Jones rotating in more and more, especially if we play a three high look at times, he'll play Tyrone culver's old middle rover spot there, just a shade deeper than the linebackers. Holy ****! We still have Will Allen?!?!? I forgot all about him!! lol. Wow. I certainly hope we move Merling (if we haven;t already cut him without my noticing).
So you think Ronnie will take a drastic pay cut to stay? I don't see them paying him much. As for Soliai and Wake, I get the feeling that if the regime is en route to a winning season, Ross will 'let them' do extensions, but not until they show enough that he knows he's keeping Sparano around long term.
I'll be surprised if Ronnie agreed to resign knowing that was his role. Wallace would suck at TE, imo. Not sure about Carey at Gurad. It's def intriguing and has been suggested many times. We'll see.
Keep in mind..potential microfracture procedure Bro, big man there as well, he very well may not be ready for the season. I'm thinking they want to go with the playmaker over mr consistency, Clemons is a good FS, however if they see Jones just making stuff happen everyday in practice, they will go with Jones imho. Sneaky blitzer as well, probably the best blitzing Db we have on the roster, put him on the slot and Burnett slides over to cover for a few seconds and we could see WA with 3-4 sacks if he makes the team. To many expensive pieces who will have value elsewhere, if Merling shows he is 100% from the achilles people tend to forget how good of a player he is, in 09 he was as good if not slightly better then Langford per PFF.
1. The roster will not be significantly reconfigured from here on out. The "blink and you'll miss it" replacement of Crowder with Burnett is probably going to be the only move of its kind. Sparano and Ireland have to prove that the roster they've built can make the playoffs—and win playoff games—and so they likely believe that a huge upheaval of the depth chart would make their prior efforts look even worse. The only real and significant positional battles in training camp will be at fullback (with Bush on the roster, Hilliard will likely have to best Polite to stick around the team; I don't believe Hilliard will be the 3rd RB behind Thomas and Bush, though he may compete with Sheets there as well), cornerback (Will Allen vs everyone), and right guard (John Jerry wasn't ready to play last year: is he ready now?). 2. Chad Henne will not be significantly challenged in training camp. It's now being reported that the Dolphins never made an offer for Kyle Orton, meaning they were content to haul in Matt Moore and call it a day. In keeping consistent with point #1, Sparano and Ireland are going to sink or swim with the guys they've brought in, rather than break the cap to replace as many players as possible. For better or worse, your 2010 quarterback is also your 2011 quarterback, and he's sitting pretty right now. 3. The team's offensive identity will change. Under pressure to show that hiring Brian Daboll, sticking with Chad Henne, trading for Reggie Bush, and drafting Daniel Thomas and Charles Clay were the correct choices, the offense will become slightly more pass-oriented. We'll see more screens, more multiple receiver formations, some "odd" lineups like Fasano out wide and Marshall in the slot, etc. Sparano is probably a little stung by 2010 criticism that he's a conservative, scared coach and will overreact in response. Daboll has no problem throwing everything from vanilla run plays to the A-11 formation against the wall, so he won't argue with Sparano if he tries to get a little "crazy". 4. The defense will regress slightly but will still be a good unit. Unfortunately, with the additions and changes on D—Will Allen, Jared Odrick, A.J. Edds, Randy Starks back at RDE, Kevin Burnett—a slight regression will be considered unacceptable. This defense still lacks a complete safety to finalize its ascension into the ranks of the elite. We need a Troy Polamalu, an Ed Reed, a Nick Collins, an Antoine Bethea, an Eric Berry, etc. Until Ireland recognizes that the safety position is incomplete, this defense will never be top 5. Not even if Wake racks up 15 sacks and Sean Smith hauls in all those INTs.
Meh, we tried making Wilford a TE and Wallace is bigger and faster...I'm praying Ronnie plays FB with Bush at tailback.
Henne wins the starting job easily and goes on to throw a TD to INT ratio similar to Orton ( I am guessing 18tds to 13 INTs). Marshall has 90 catches with 8-10 TDs Hartline disappears Bush has a good, but not great year, with at leas 3-4 plays that electrify us. My bet, the will all be in the first half of the season D Thomas gets 1100 yards rushing, good RB, made to look better with our much improved OLine I know this is regular season, not TC
I'm just going to agree with you on all points, if for no other reason than I like them titties on your avatar.
1. Carey released starting O-line LT-Jake Long LG-Mike Pouncey C- Riche Incognito RG-John Jerry RT-Nate Garner 2. Alama-Francis starts over Misi 3. Bell cut and Jones starts in his place. 4. Clay starts over Fasano
Five player moves #1 we keep Ronnie #2 we dont sign a tight end and Clay doesnt pan out #3 Hartline makes no impact. #4 Henne playes well but our backups dont perform well. #5 we trade our much need draft picks for another Eddie Moore like character. on the flip side we get Zach Miller and Todd Heap both and we trade for another wr . I know that is a horrible thing to say but this staff is as mysterious as the headless horseman
Come on Ohio, inquiring minds need to know the name of the lovely tennis lass with the substantial mammary development.
I found her online, thanks for your kind assistance. She was a 34DD in Ohio's avatar, but has since had them reduced to a 34C. Her male fans are distressed, but she shot up the rankings after her reduction.
