If we signed Edwards, I'd still keep Bess. Maybe trade Hartline, depending on what we could get for him.

So, not for nothing but I kind of, sorta mentioned that this was my vision on SICK's radio show about three days ago. Am I gonna go ahead and take credit? Yes, I am gonna go ahead and take credit.

Holmes is better than you give credit for. Also, there are plenty of very good WRs left in free agency. Plaxico Burress is still out there and is basically what Braylon Edwards was supposed to be. Malcom Floyd would make plays opposite Holmes. James Jones is underrated. Etc, etc.

    The Jets have options.

Id take Edwards for a solid #2. Surround Henne with talent, even he can look good. Im all for it!

Still need a qb who can throw the deep ball to him.

Sad to have all the talent in Marshall, Edwards, Bess, and Bush...yet a qb in Checkdown Chad who can't get them the ball in position to make plays.

Henne should know his job is on the line and the way he played the last two years wont cut it. That being said, he has had some success in the past and just needs to show up to play.

Posting late in this thread, but to comment on posts on the first page...

Whether or not Henne fails or succeeds will depend on Brian Daboll, if he calls a play action pass on 3rd and 9 from the Dolphins own 8 yard line like a previous un-named Dolphins offensive coordinator used to do.

That wasn't even my favorite. After a sack, when on 3and12, he'd call the DRAW to catch the D napping? I loved that. Or those few times Henne was SLINGING THE ROCK, in a rhythm, and then he'd bring him out so Ricky could throw a pass out of the Cat.

Man was a tactical ****ing genius.

I had almost forgotten how bad he was.

Funniest thing. We called the least amount of draws in the NFL on 3rd down in 2008 :dunno:

Both Bess and Hartline are better players than Braylon Edwards.

It would be a horrible move to trade Bess. He's such a unique player that helps this offense.

Their are 2 benefits to getting Edwards imo...

1.) He wouldnt be kicking "our ***" on primetime games, you know when he actually FEELS like playing.

2.) In week 1 when Henne checks down or makes the "safe" play, he may have some credability to approach Chad and ask him when he became such a p-ssy?

Not a whole lot of positives imo, although if he accepts some reduced contract why the hell not.

I am not undercutting Holmes at all, my point is simply he is much less effective if you can focus on him alone without another legit receiver opposite him. The guys left are more #3 receivers than a legit #2. Burress would probably be a legit #2 and maybe even #1 if he can back to form after being in prison.

But right now the Jets WR corp is decimated with just Holmes himself.

The slower whiter version of Ted Ginn is no way better than Edwards, IMO.

Bess is the best slot in the league. Don't think Edwards ever plays much in the slot. They have different strengths and could coexist well in the same offense IMO.

    YMMV.

Our quarterback play went in the crapper, not to put too fine a point on it.

Chad Pennington should have been the 2008 MVP, not Peyton Manning.

Not even close to comparable in my estimation.

I'd be quite alright with bringing in Edwards. I think it would be a good idea to bring him here to pair up with Henne again. Problem is.. we then need to figure out what to do with Hartline i'd imagine. I know edwards has his issues, but I think it would be a huge boost for the offense. I also think its a good way to help us keep up with the Pats and Jets.

Brian's dad is a football guy , so he cheers for BH but would chose Braylon over his son for production , imo...

Apparently not even Bess would agree, so give it to Brian and half his family, they at least have confidence!

The problem is if we sign someone like Braylon, it leaves us no room to sign a QB ya know...I think we have room for one more splash, just not sure about our cap right now.

You are right, Hartline is not nearly as good as Edwards as dropping balls

How many drops did Edwards have last year? How many big plays?
I would be interested in Edwards at the right price , if reports are true that he wants legitimate #1 wr money I easily pass , as I have mentioned and I can't emphasis this strongly enough , it is bargain shopping time in the next week or so and teams that manage this correctly will make a significant step forward.

I want Miami to be one of those teams , and if they are then we get our QB next year unless something unforseen occurs .Hopefully a plug and play situation for a team that made smart prudent moves , not panic ones.

I love that people here still pine for ted ginn. Really? Find a player in our history with less heart. Go ahead. **** him. He really set the world on fire with his back peddaling side line finding hit avoiding gator arming bull**** in SF, huh? I reiterate for the tgj lovers... **** him. My dogs **** has more heart than he does.

so can we all just forgot about this guy who is the name of this thread and concentrate what the little jetson just tweeted....

    ClaytonESPN John Clayton
Dolphins have cap room for TE Zach Miller. Raiders don't have room at moment but will try to re-sign him. They can get it done.

i have no idea why mentions us just out of the blue, no tweet by him before about us and miller

He beat the Jets singe handedly. He showed some promise as a slot WR and returner but our staff failed at preparing him just like it has every other young player we have brought in on offesnen Jake Long).

Hate all you want but dde had skills, we just tried to make apple pie with oranges.
