DAVIE— The following are updates from the Miami Dolphins training camp practice at the team's training facility on the Nova Southeastern University campus:

-- Dolphins center Mike Pouncey just pancaked AJ Edds. Solid start vs. linebackers. We'll see about NTs and DTs.

-- #Dolphins engaged in some blocking drills, while receivers/corners go at it on other end of field. Soliai looking unblockable.

-- Paul Soliai is throwing the Dolphins centers around, looking like a real franchise player.

-- FB Charles Clay just struggled to contain Mike Rivera during a blocking drill. I'm sensing he needs work on in-line blocking.

-- We're watching the tandem drill, which is one of my favorites. LINE PLAY. Paul Soliai just metrorailed Mike Pouncey.

-- New #Dolphins OC just dropped back into pass coverage during a drill. Showed some nice quickness.

-- For those asking, Mike Pouncey is wearing number 63.

-- I like that I'm seeing some of the Dolphins' bigger receivers going into motion. Felt it was missing last year, making O predictable.

-- This rookie TE Brett Brackett, who played WR at Penn State, can move. Not sure he can play, but he sure can threaten the seam.

-- OT Lydon Murtha, who started a couple of games last season at RT, is not working.

-- Jake Long looks impressive in whatever rehab drill he's doing is called. Swinging a big ball attached to a rope back n forth while sitting.

-- Back for more #Dolphins practice. The newly-signed Mike Pouncey in at center for Miami.

-- OT Jake Long is killing that rehab assignment. Players often say practicing is easier than the rehab work, and I agree.

-- I find it a big odd that Karl Dorrell, the Dolphins' new QB coach, is working with the RBs during the handoff drill instead of QB's throwing

-- Lex Hilliard, Kory Sheets and Reggie Bush are out here watching practice because they can't work due to the un-signed CBA.

-- Kevin Burnett is 6-3, 240 and he certainly looks it. A big guy. He's watching linebacker drills now.

-- The Dolphins media relations department said they have not been told OT Jake Long has been put on the PUP list. Stay tuned.

-- Reggie Bush's final number won't be 8. He can have it during exhibition season, but when season starts he must get jersey between 20-40

-- Dolphins LBer Kevin Burnett's number is going to be 47.

Intrigued by these reports of Brett Brackett.

I think Omar Kelly and Andrew Carter share a brain, so to speak, especially early in Andrew's tenure with the Sun Sentinel...so it's not surprising to see him come out with a note about Brackett a day after Omar labeled him one of the players he's been really intrigued by so far...but nonetheless, can't be a BAD sign for the guy. Maybe they found a steal in the former QB.

And of course, Soliai is pushing everyone around. He's probably the second best player on the defense, if not the best. GET HIM LOCKED UP! Jeebus. It should be easy to figure that one out.

So far it sounds as if Devlin, Carter, and Brackett are the surprises in camp, then again the Defense is at the far practice field and difficult to observe.

details of 7 on 7 passing drills:

-The drill began with Chad Henne passing deep down the left side to Brandon Hartline, who made a spectacular catch in traffic. This was the best play of the drill for Henne.
-Next, Henne missed Bess wide left. Henne was frustrated.
-Henne then fired an incomplete pass Bess. Play was broken up by Yeremiah Bell.
-Henne then threw a short pass to Daniel Thomas in the left flat.
-Next up was Tom Brandstater’s turn.
-First pass was high to Marlon Moore who was well covered.
-Second pass was intercepted by Jimmy Wilson. Was intended for Edmond Gates.
-Third pass was complete to Roberto Wallace. Intermediate pass over the middle.
-Next it was Pat Devlin time.
-First pass went to Julius Pruitt, who made the catch after the ball somehow squeezed through coverage. Went to the right side, probably about 10-12 yards.
-Second pass was intended for Dedrick Epps, who dropped it. Wasn’t a very good throw.
-Then it was back to Henne.
-First pass was intended for Hartline, cutting across the middle on an intermediate route. The throw was in traffic and it led Hartline into coverage. He would have suffered a big hit had there been full contact
-Second pass was complete to Lousaka Polite under the middle.
-Third pass went deep down the right sideline to Bess. He made it dive for it, got his hands on it, but couldn’t come up with it. Wasn’t a bad throw, just slightly too far.
-Fourth pass went to the right side and Nolan Carroll jumped the route and nearly intercepted it.
-Then it was back to Devlin
-He completed his first pass to Mickey Shuler – short route over the middle.
-Second pass went to Marlon Moore on the right side – was a good catch.
-Third pass was incomplete down the left side, but the officials called pass interference.
-Then Brandstater in
-First pass to Brooks Foster – medium route, pass goes to the left side.
-Second pass was overthrown down the right side. Intended for Phillip Livas. Didn’t have a chance.
TEAM PASSING DRILL COMING …

I'd sure hope our $12 million NT could dominate 1 on 1's. Be worried about him if he didn't when it came time to face double teams. Last thing we want is a NT who can't draw doubles.

Wow, Ike Francis out of nowhere, surprising to say the least, hope he keeps it up.

Tony Spears is my #1 longshot this preseason, I suspect his size/quickness/reach and length will surprise folks in preseason.

He is #48

DAVIE— The following are updates from the Miami Dolphins training camp practice at the team's training facility on the Nova Southeastern University campus:

-- Chad Henne just hit Brandon Marshall on a simple slant during 11-on-11. Fans clap, excited about a completed pass.

-- AJ Edds is being teamed with Karlos Dansby as the Dolphins top tier ILBers.

-- Tyrone Culver and Ike Alama-Francis just sandwich sacked a QB with the TE wide open.

Text alerts: Get South Florida sports news on your phone

-- Rookie OLBer Quinton Spears just sacked Tom Brandstater.

-- I'm no longer going to rule out the possibility of Jared Odrick starting. I just saw him destroy Richie Incognito

-- Chad Henne just hit Anthony Fasano in the seam for a 20-yard gain.

-- Daniel Thomas doing some pushups after a bounce passes off his fingertips during team passing drill» Well deserved push ups

-- Tom Bradstater connected on a decent 20-yard pass to Brett Brackett, who cut up the seam. I like.

-- Nic Grigsby just had a nice little block on a LBer blitz during 11-on-11. Too bad Brandstater overthrew his target.

-- Mike Pouncey appears to be having snap count issues. This should be expected in his first practice.

-- Karlos Dansby just sacked Henne before a pass to Davone Bess is completed. LG was absent.

-- Got a "Let's go Dolphins" chant here at Nova. Props to the people who come out here and sit in the blazing heat to watch this.

-- Best guess is Reggie Bush, Davone Bess, Clyde Gates and Phillip Livas are the candidates to return punts.

-- Pat Devlin just roped a 25-plus sideline pass to Marlon Moore, who beat Nate Ness and trip toed it in. Decent arm. Had some zip on that one

-- Yeremiah Bell tips a pass at the line that Nolan Carroll nearly interceptions. Marlon Moore broke it up.

-- Henne making some curious throws in this 7-on-7 exercise.

-- Henne just led Hartline right into a defender in 7-on-7 ... would have been a huge collision if there was full contact.

-- Hartline opens up 7-on-7 with an impressive catch.

My #1 longshot, Q Spears:

Good, not great get off, and KLV mentioned Ike had two sacks today, which is odd for Ike as last season he was more or less struggling to fillin at SOLB, hope he keeps it up

I don't think it is blocked. I think whomever reported 20-40 made a mistake. RBs can have any 40s number.
