WOW RANDY MOSS HAS RETIRED FROM FOOTBALL

"After weighing his options and contemplating offers, he's decided to retire," said Randy Moss' agent, Joel Segal.

Why are people assuming he will be on the final roster, nevertheless as a starter? There are 90 spots available right now. Considering Long is on PUP, there is a little overreaction at this point IMO.

Would there be a overreaction if the Dolphins ran a contest to award a winning fan a roster spot to backup a position on the offensive line? Same Thing. thus the reaction.

You should probably pay more attention if you think ex-Cowboys signing have been anything other than a big net positive.

Could just be doing Colombo a favor by bringing him in? Long isn't going to play in the preseason, or so it seems. We need bodies at tackle just so we have a rotation of guys through the preseason. We talked to Ray Willis yesterday too.

If you're going to sign a tackle to be a camp body, I would think it would be someone you're familiar with and is intelligent. You can't, and shouldn't, have to spend time working with him so he understands what he needs to do.

    I don't think he's very good either.

I think it's a few things that have already been mentioned here.

What if Jake Long takes a little longer than expected? (Move Carey to LT, Colombo at RT)
Is Nate Garner fully healthy and capable of playing well after a foot injury that cost him the year.
Is a move to get Venon Carey to re-structure his contract?
Is there any chance of a move inside for Venon Carey?
With Nate Garner competing on the insde, did they want another swing tackle to back up?

I'm interested to hear the reasoning. Although it sounded like Tony didn't offer much in the presser.

People are saying a tremendous amount of dumb **** in this thread with no regard for context.

Colombo was awful last year, but he was also playing through knee problems the entire year. He had surgery mid-preseason last year, and was rushed back because even with one leg, he's better than Alex Barron.

If he's healthy, odds are he's a pretty serviceable backup. He's 32 years old, he's probably not "done", not if his knee injury checks out. If he is, he's certainly better than Lyndon Murtha and Pat McQuistan, both of whom saw time at Tackle, and if Nate Garner might end up with a Guard spot, they need a dedicated swing tackle.

Maybe Free Reign wouldn't agree to play Tony Sparano Jr.'s birthday party unless the Dolphins signed Colombo to a camp fodder contract. Tony Sr. does spoil the lad, made him an assistant coach and all...

If we're bringing in multiple Oline guys, sounds like we could just be chuckin 'em against the wall to see if any stick. If one turns out better than what we have, we keep 'em. If not, bye bye.

These guys do not play. Anyone who's out of shape, consistently injured, mouthing off or under performing will be targeted by the front office sooner than later.

I agree that Carey is the better player. But I think that as a front office it's beneficial to maintain the perception that no one's job is assured, especially if they under perform.

Are they thinking of tinkering with the RT spot, either thinking someone on the roster or someone they have targeted might be the answer so they can dump Carey's cap number? In that case they could think Columbo would be the temporary insurance?

Murtha, Berger, Mcquistan, Kopa, Ghiaciuc our depth is below par...if hes healthy, he will be a backup, not a starter.

Let's not get carried away. I'm not crazy about this signing but Pouncey alone should upgrade the line quite a bit, and it's not like this line was a complete bunch of stumblef*cks last year.

I have a bad feeling this either means Jake's shoulder is not so A.O.K., or that big Vern could be targeted for a cut if he doesn;t look good in camp and Columbo does look good.

If QB got half the attention OLine does from this regime we'd have a top notch QB and eight backups by now.

If there were as many available QB options as OL, sure.
