Well then. At least he's not a bad 3rd option as a pass rusher, and he'll actually be able to retire a phin. Id like to do the same for ricky.
At least he can "fill in" the coaches on the defensive schemes....while adding depth... emotions will be stirred over this one, Killa come back in from the ledge bro, it isnt worth it....
If true, kudos. I don't know how much JT has left in the tank but for a limited situational role, I imagine he can provide a little something. And I still happen to like the guy and it's only fitting that he come abck for one more go round to wash the Jet stink off him before he retires and goes up in the Ring of Honor with Zach
My favorite defensive player of all time always has a place on this team. Even if he was a traitor for a year and went to that's scumbag team lol.
Uh... whats with the negative reactions? How is this a bad thing? Our depth at OLB is weak. He is still offers some production (5 Sacks, 2 Forced Fumbles last year)... and can be a good mentor to our young players. What am I missing?
He's got nothing left as a pass rusher, but he's still a good quality run defender. Another pass rusher would have been more useful, but I suppose he's at least better than Ikaika Alama-Francis.
I know hes not popular by many but I am excited! One of my favorite players and glad to see he is back where he belongs!
Hes obviously not what he once was... but the guy still got 5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles last year in a limited role.
well this guy could be pissed ....
We're gettin' the band back together. We just need to sign Ricky now...Screw the production, I feel good about this.
I think it's fine he's coming back..perfect as a situational guy if there's anything left. His beef was always with Bill P. .. not Sparano and Jeffy
IMO he's had just a couple years where he was a decent run defender. He gets crushed at the point of attack pretty regularly now. I'd run right at him if he was on the field during early downs. As you said he's got nothing left as a pass rusher. This signing is about as weak as it gets IMO. additionally I'll be man enough to admit that I did not at all like the way he was handling himself leading up to when he left. The way he neglected training to be the TV dancer. His comments and the veer of his focus from being a football player to a hollywood career and the fact that he did go to the Jets in spite of all his career long venemous comments towards them. Yep I'm that guy.
so what about chris chambers, he is still out there j/k , i really like this, i don´t think that there is any guarantee he will make this team
Now if he can coach up Q Spears a bit....for me this makes the situation simply fascinating from a developmental pov.
Well, from your boy's POV... it will be one less roster spot. However, even if so, I could see Spears being retained on the practice squad while he takes a year to add some bulk. He could still learn from JT in that respect...
He played more then one would think, probably to much, and we do not know if this is one of those 1 day contract then retire deals. Of course, with our FO, they will sign him, then let him compete, then basically force him to retire, or he will be waived. And the howls wil go to "11" on the "these guys are clowns!!" amplifiers
I'm talking about a situational depth role. Looking at our backup OLBs... we could really use some help.
