How could you not? 1-15 wasn't proof enough? Before Cameron ever stepped foot in Davie, JT was on a steady ***** moan campaign to the media. Then his defense lost us easily the first 4 games that year, while he was gassed and taking plays off.
no, JT is at least a quality situational player, if we can have the #6 Defense with Q Moses in that role, JT cannot be viewed as a downgrade
Schmolioot's got a point. Jason Taylor has a streak going of having been present to witness the end of all 5 of the Dolphins' head coaches post-Shula. This should be his 6th. He's the football equivalent of Nursing Home Death Cat.
Don't tell me you're listening to the same station, Coral. The only thing worse than that is........ if you two are in the same room.
Just looked into Barnes. Dont really know much about him honestly. Looks like hes bounced around a little (3 teams in 4 years), and up until he got with the Chargers at some point last season, he wasnt that productive. You have access to the PFF stuff, so maybe there is more to his production than his total tally of sacks and what not. As far as signing him... the Chargers seemed to sign him pretty early in FA, with it being announced on the 2nd day that agreements could be made (Wednesday). Do you know if Barnes was out there actively looking elsewhere? With him signing so quickly, and with him having easily the best production of his career on that team and in that system... it doesnt seem like he was out there trying to look for the highest bidder, and instead was looking to stay and build on what he was able to do last year. Is Barnes a guy that you really wanted to target this offseason? Was he someone that you wanted to throw some good money at going into FA?
I like poking fun at Killahp as he has been a "I'm right about it" streak and was in danger of becoming insufferable it if continued..
Yeah, were conducting the first annual Phin fan mass suicide event together. A slow death-a-thon from watching our FO and listening to 80's one hit wonders.
What does 1-15 have to do with the current players on our roster? How is going 1-15 4 years ago "enough proof" that our current depth is better than JT?
This is what I expect. It's a retirement signing. Or this regime is just as curly-brained as I already thought. lol.
I don't like this because I reeeeeeealy hated him for signing with the Jets, but maybe....just maybe this was the plan all along and he just got a lot of Intel for us on how the Jets work and their schemes?!?!?
(Nursing Home Death Kitty JT sniffs the air. Stares into Dolphins HQ. Saunters down the hall. Perches insolently on Tony Sparano's chest. Purrs).
niceeeeeee this guy is my favorite player of all time hence my user name... but the plan was executed to perfection, get into the jets locker room, steal their playbooks, get behind the scenes, save all their info to his computer, and come on home. Good work JT!
Well, I guess one good thing that could come out of this is JT should at least have some inside information on the Jets. Im sure they'll change alot from last year to this year in the way of signals and play calls and such, but I'm sure some will remain the same as well. Hopefully that could help us out.
Maybe someone should have mentored him with some loyalty. Hopefully his backstabbing qualities dont rub off on the young guys. That said.....welcome back JT!!!! We missed you. Now go fetch Wake a sandwich.
Im happy with it....provides dept and the guys on the team like him. He belongs in the aqua and orange to finish out his career, IMO.
I've said it before and I'll say it again! JT knows how to get to Tom Brady and he's figured out Matt Light (who was just resigned), so that's 2 games that JT can help impact and within the division. I have to assume after playing in NY, he knows something about Marc Sanchez & d'Brick and can hopefully help impact that series as well. 4 in division games is very helpful if you want to make the playoffs. With a reduced snap count (and we know Tony is locked onto those numbers) JT can be a little more fresh in his pass rush attempts and hopefully generate the pressure we need. He will never be the every down monster that he was in 2007 and prior, but we're not expecting that or paying him that salary. I hate how he had no problem playing with the Jets after all those years and it showed just how selfish he can be, but I'll welcome him back a lot quicker than I ever did Ricky!
Yes Antwan Barnes was someone I wanted them to target this off season. He's a situational pass rusher and I watched all his snaps in San Diego. He's a right side pass rusher, classic guy to speed rush over the left tackle, and he provided a LOT of pressure for the Charges this season in situational downs. A lot like Cameron Wake. He seems to wear down if you keep him in too long, and he's not great against the run, and he didn't really do much work standing up as a linebacker. To me he is the guy you sub in for Koa Misi on passing downs until you're sure that Koa can beat NFL left tackles consistently when teams put them on an island so that they can send extra help at Cam Wake over right tackle. I don't know if Antwan was particularly looking to leave San Diego but I don't think it much matters, either. I know what he signed for, $3.2 million over 2 years. I don't think it's a very far stretch to the imagination that if you doubled that, his ears would have perked up.
It's not just being present for the deaths. That's small potatoes. Anybody can do that. JT's unique skills is to be present for the absolute, rock bottom, worst moments for this franchise. 1. 62-7 2. Trading for AJ Feeley, Wanny fired mid-season, finish 4-12 3. "I am not going to be the Alabama coach" 4. 1-15 That takes some special skills.
How can we be sure the plan isn't for Jason to come down here and feed us MISinformation for Rex and the Jets? He's a free agent AND a double-agent!
Honestly, what I don't like is that: 1) He takes snaps from younger players, which means those players won't be as improved next season and the year after. This only makes sense if we are making a deep playoff push THIS season... which we aren't, imo. 2) He's not going to help on special teams, and I REALLY want to see special teams DRASTICALLY improve over last year. We need LB depth that can play on STs and play WELL on STs.
Don't think I'd count on that. Taylor rushed Matt Light 54 times in 2010 and walked away with 1 sack, 0 hits and 2 pressures. That's even worse than his full season average in New York. For instance, going by Cam Wake's 2010 averages, if he rushed 54 times, he'd have had 2 sacks, 3 hits and 4 pressures. This I'm not sure I understand. What secrets would he have divined about D'Brickashaw Ferguson, that D'Brickashaw Ferguson wouldn't have counter-acted by having gone against Jason Taylor in practice every day? You suggest JT has figured out the secret to beating Ferguson, but what if it's Ferguson that figured out the secret to successfully blocking JT every time?
Well....did it ever occur to anyone that maybe JT decided to come back to the Dolphins for dolphindebby ? Very nice move on his part, considering the circumstances.
The younger players you are talking about are Ikaika Alama-Francis and Jason Trusnik, for frame of reference. Not exactly the great sin in the world.
