I cannot argue with the numbers, but there's something that JT has when lining up against TFB. Remember that sack against his was a game changing forced fumble which there's no denying JT has been very successful at against TFB. Notice I said assume. I'm hopeful that JT has something he can use to become an impact in those two games. He's always said he's got something on almost all the QBs he's faced that he "feels" gives him an advantage. It can all be in his head and provides nothing and as you stated d'Brick might have figure JT out, so we'll just have to wait and see. I just don't see the harm in bringing JT back as a situational guy (truly situational, not with the snap count NY gave him) and giving some true pressure opposite Cam Wake. For a reminder of the beauty seeing TFB get crushed by JT. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/09000d5d81aaa6d6/Tom-Brady-fumble
It's not a great sin, true, but if we don't expect to be Superbowl ready this year, I'd rather be developing our young guys than giving Jason his swansong sendoff. Just a case of priorities and maximizing player development for the long-term goal.
Well to be TOTALLY honest SICK, we only traded him, because he refused to play for us....... That said, I forgive him for his year long impersonation of Benedict Arnold. Welcome back JT. Now take about 1,000 showers to get that Jet STINK off of you
I think he has to earn his way onto the team. JT will see the way things are going, and if the writing on the walls says "retire" I think he'll do that, and now he'll be able to do that as a Dolphin without the "sign-n-retire" that Zach had to go through.
We don't have young guys worth developing though. A third, young, talented linebacker prospect would be nice, but it's really a luxury. I'd love for them to have picked up someone, but functionally most of the time when you see a heavily used #3, it's because one or both starters are one-dimensional or not very good.
I really don't care for Taylor, but I don't think this is a bad signing. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make the final roster.
Spy for the Jets? I have no feelings good or bad right now i don't know what to think. I'm with Allen (Face Palm). Edit: I figured it out. He's our competition for Henne.
Was just going post I hope he doesn't make final cuts. Matt Moore and Jason Taylor, we keep these exciting signings up and I'm going run out of clean pants. In time I'll come around I guess but for now, blah.
I look at it differently Bpk, to me the Defense is rock solid as it is, JT adds a small piece to the puzzle, designated passrusher, he will not help nor hinder anything as developmental linebackers are a dime o' dozen, and this particular Regime has a good eye for linebackers who can do what we need them to do. The one issue here is he does not play ST, meaning a Db or Rb will wind up doing the job that really his roster slot is meant to do.
Dolphin fans are bipolar. Why in the hell are we still spending time on Jason Taylor? He has been washed up for years now. I wish I was down there tonight so I could flip his *** off. Jason Taylor can eat it.
You know what's sad? The argument that Jason Taylor is washed up illustrates how sad our pass rush was, because he would have been 2nd on our team with 5 sacks. I know it's a different system, but still. I know we were 10th in sacks but that is heavily weighted to Wake. If they render him ineffective we have a very flaccid pass rush
Someone needs to throw Jason Taylor head first into a wood chipper. I am beyond tired of hearing about this a_ _hole. It's time for everyone to change the channel from yesterday and MOVE ON!
Jason Taylor at 50 will probably be better at getting turnovers than last year's Dolphins D. Not a bad signing purely for a little depth. They can always release him later if he is indeed completely washed up.
Fixed it for ya, but, Wow, Killa, that's nasty...you gonna do that on the field or wait till when you boys can have a little privacy?
I thought you would be happy about this one.. Eh, let's see what he has in the tank, cannot do worse then Q Moses.
Taylor said last year if Parcells wasn't around he probably would have been on the team. Parcells bailed and now they brought him back. Parcells didn't want him, Jets did, who cares end of story.
I am whining cause Jason Taylor sucks ***. He hasn't been good for 5 years. What a waste of space and oxygen.
Like the move. JT is perhaps Miami's greatest defensive player of all time. Glad to see he is getting the opportunity to finish his career in a Dolphin uniform. The way it should be. Plus, he may still have some petrol left as a situational player.
If Nabo wasn't pissed off, I'd worry he might be taken ill. So, when we see him pissed we know he is really just feeling his oats.
Hey I'm just defending a young player that everyone hates. I'm not smitten over a washed up has been like Jason Taylor.
Eh, way I see it, JT won't start, he will take Q's old role, where is the harm? This is a good football move.
The harm is Taylor is a puke and I don't want him teaching the young guys to be self important egomaniacs.
Oh my yes, JT has an ego the size of a Greyhound Bus and it travels with him, but believe it or not Killahp, I think the defense lacks swagger and can use an injection of it that he offers.
I bet even at his advanced age he's probably better at catching interceptions than the Dolphins secondary. They need to learn that game changing turnovers are your friend. Maybe a future hall of famer can help them with that.
Players who become DPOY can have ego's the size of an ocean liner for all I care ... I think JT has some big plays in him playing with a dline like we have in Miami ....
