Was anyone here actually at the practice to give us an unbiased report on the complete performance of Henne and his WR's.?
Orton has been playing well in his practices apparently, Henne not so much. It's just practice, but I can understand fans being frusrated, they pay the money to see games and Dolphins fans haven't seen any QB stability since the 90s or a playoff win since 2000 season, so they should be able to voice frustration. But I wouldn't have boo'ed at a practice.
I figured the dramaqueenescence factor would be high in light of this development, the chanting and all. But give me a break. The fans know when they're being sold a lie. They have a right to express their displeasure. All the time in football fans on this message board send messages of "tough luck" or "you deserve it" when a player that hasn't performed well gets cut. "If you didn't want to be cut you should have played better." But now because it's an issue that not everyone agrees with, "I'm ashamed to be a Dolphins fan" etc. Come on. Turn off the dramatic overdrive for a minute. Fans are PISSED. They have a right to be. If you didn't want the fans to be pissed, do better than 7-9 with fading Decembers two years in a row. Do better than a QB with a pathological habit of acquiring 75 QB Ratings. If you don't do better, reap your rewards and don't complain about it. Make the fans look silly. Fans like to end up looking silly for booing someone.
I know we all joke about Henne being a robot but I hope hearing that chant pissed him off. I want to see the Henne that beat the Jets on MNF in 09. Yes, I believe Henne was able to carry the load that game and beat a solid Jets team. I know he has it in him, the question just is how to get it out.
what rotten fans imo...that **** is just sad. booing your QB during one of the first few practices then chanting for one on another team!?!?! just nonsense
Good point. Only one difference... Sanchez' teammates seem to REALLY like him, genuinely, and rally behind him. Henne, being a robot, hasn't engendered much love among his teammates. Or fans. It's weird, but if you have the right personality, you can get away with being bad and STILL be loved. Henne doesn;t have that personality. So, if team morale matters at all, I guess that's the only thing holding us back. You're right, if the Jets can go that far, so can we. This is probably why Tony harps on Chad needing to be more of a leader of the pack among his teammates. He needs to be able to rally them together behind him. If he can get THAT happening, I think the other stuff falls into place. That said, chants of "We want Orton" aren't helping.
Ya, I get that... and even "fist pumped" your post. However, one thing that should be kept in mind is to direct that anger and "pissed-off-ness" at the ones it is being generated by. A "Ross/Ireland/Sparano Sucks" chant would be better and more productive than ripping into the young struggling QB... who has no control over the moves being made by the team.
And what's crazy about this is I just watched a Buccaneers training camp practice yesterday. I was in the media area and I saw Freeman out there. He generally threw great passes, right on point, especially into the end zone. He threw a couple of picks, but it didn't matter because he was throwing passes right on the money into the end zone whether the receiver was catching it or not. That's all you have to do. You want to shut the fans up? Just do THAT. Don't suck. They'll shut up. What fan is going to keep a Kyle Orton chant up after seeing Henne throw a perfect strike into the end zone right into the receiver's hands? No fan. They'd shut up.
Are we supposed to feel sorry for the man making millions to play a sport badly? He's a man, I think he can handle it.
Henne has control over his performance and career. It's not like he was led to the slaughter by Darth Ireland. His performance is entirely up to him. Not Dan Henning, Tony Sparano, Brian Daboll, whatever. It's up to him. And even though this forum has bought back into Henne after a season where it lost faith in him, frankly it's more disturbing that we'd bash the fans who booed just because they haven't rehabilitated Henne in their minds the way this forum has. If Henne doesn't want to get booed, Henne should make the plays expected of a playoff-caliber quarterback.
There are ways to express displeasure that don't involve booing players at the fourth practice well before the season has even started. If people despise Henne and want Orton, go tell Jeff Ireland. Don't boo the kid that, for now, is our starting quarterback, for better or for worse. How does that help the team at all?
Feel sorry? I never said anything about feeling sorry. Never said anything about coddling or touchie rubbing or anything like that... Just said to direct the anger at its origin...
That is an impatient post. You know football. Installing a system with fans around under the lights. Never works.
By the way, here's Cam Wake on Twitter just now: Sounds to me like Wake wants to play even harder in response to the booing. Does Henne?
You picked the wrong guy Desides, lol. I completely agree on all of that... and I havent bashed anyone for booing. Just said it would probably be more productive to direct the anger at the guys that are pissing you off by putting those players on the field...
The booing was directed at the person most directly responsible for subpar quarterback play in 2009-10. 2009-10 is not a small sample size.
Let's be clear here. I disagree with Killerphins on the Marshall issue and I disagreed somewhat on Crowder (although Ireland, Nolan, and Sparano agreed with Killer). You guys crucify the guy for that yet want these fans hailed as heroes. Let's step back here and admit that we are mainly divided on this based on our personal feelings on the guy rather than some major frustration and fans' rights.
If Chad Henne's affected by fans booing him, then I don't think any Dolphins fan should want him as the Dolphins quarterback. As a professional, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be negatively affected by the booing. If he is, well, I think he's in the wrong profession. I can remember being at the Meadowlands in 2009 (the Ted Ginn kick return game) and Mark Sanchez made some awful, awful throws and the fans started to boo. A few months later that same team was in the AFC Championship Game - I don't think it affected Sanchez at all, and it shouldn't Henne. To get all up in arms about other fans booing and fans telling other fans what they should or shouldn't do is just a foolish, and doesn't do anyone any good.
Your opinion too. Name a personnel man/GM, etc, since Beathard, who is better than Ireland. If I am wrong, that should be easy for you to do.
I'm just looking through the reports and it seems to me if you're looking for an "unbiased" report...as in a report that says "Henne really didn't do that bad"...you might have a tough time finding one. Here's one, from a guy that I've not known to be a Henne basher: Here's another one: This all I could find in addition to the seemingly unanimous media reports that Henne "struggled" or looked "lackluster" etc.
I hope Henne does well this season and pulls off a playoff win...not because I have been a fan since I was 8 years old. I hope for it just so a certain segment of emo, wrist slitting (like were 1-15) whiners will stop draining the life out of this board over the lack of 'their' qb being here. Swear we have like 15 MikeO and Finatics around here lately.
I'm not sure how you can say this is based on personal feelings. Its based on performance. Chad Henne hasn't performed, thus he's going to get heat. If Marshall goes out and drops a bunch of balls, I certainly wouldn't complain about anyone booing him. But Marshall also has proven himself in this league. He's proven that he can be a great player. Chad Henne hasn't proven that. He's buoyed at this point by hope.
Of course we're divided on the issue of Henne. But the fact of the matter is I've argued on behalf of fans having the right to boo their teams before, and I'll do it again every time. People get way too dramatic about it, too touchy, all this "disgrace" language and whatnot. GTFO. It's a sport. S-P-O-R-T.
Ck, I love reading your post first of all..but this free agency if kicking your a$$. You are going to have a heart attack by the time the season starts.relax
You think it's bad here, check out Miami Dolphins Bandits on Facebook. I never seen such a bunch of babbling ignorant fools in my life. http://www.facebook.com/MIAMIDOLPHINSBANDITS
Before he contracted that mystery illness last preseason, wasn't Ike on track to be the starting Sam?
I’m sorry but this is just a product of unrealistic expectations. This is the start of year 4 of a regime that took over the worst team in the NFL. If you have any examples of teams that have that have rebounded faster please enlighten me because I’m at a loss. You call it a lie; I call it the best group the Dolphins have fielded in 10 years. You may not like Henne but Sparano seems to be betting his career on him and after the Harbaugh fiasco, it’s his decision.
Heh finally read Andrew Carter's breakdown and just reading through that they had no reason to pick on Henne. It was a series of god awful plays starting with Devlin (wouldn't surprise me if our fan base just assumed it was Henne), then Brandstater came in and had 1 complete/1 incomplete. Henne comes in and has ONE sack/INT play and the crowd started up. Or was it a sack and then an INT? Hard to tell with the way Carter states it. Of course that is if Carter's got the complete breakdown here and didn't miss it out. You guys tell me below cause until the bad streak with Devlin it just seems like a lot of Henne to Bess completions: http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...y-practice-7-on-7-and-team-passing-recap.html
