Oh I'm not disappointed in not getting DWilliams expensive contract as much as I am doing a little crowing. I was told I was wrong when I heard Drew Rosenhaus say that there would be no free agent charge to Miami. He was right, and I feel I deserve an apology from the rah-rah crowd. They vilified me unfairly, told me I was 100% WRONG, that FA's would be dying to sign with us - that obviously didn't come close to happening. I was only relaying a message (but I do have to admit I believed it at the time too).
I am going to have to ask for some evidence to back up this claim. This just has the classic look of a straw-man or gross exaggeration. Can you support this statement? Do you have a link to some posts or something that shows people saying the bolded above? I am not asserting you weren't vilified. I am inclined to believe you were, but to assert that others said FA would "dying to sign with us" seems a bit much. Thanks.
Who knows, but I do know they didn't sign with us. That gives credence to what Drew Rosenhaus had predicted, that most, if not all top FA's would avoid signing or even giving Miami a 2nd thought. That was all I had said too, yet was made out to be this "hater" of some kind. It was BS. So I am getting my ounce of satisfaction now.
well I feel all of you guys have good points ,yet the problem is on facebook there is some of the same sentiment that free agents really dont want to come to Miami but i am not too sure if there is any merit to that. here is what could be happening maybe sparano and Ireland are still not over this last offseason's fiasco and Ireland left Sparano hanging and many people are thinking that that incident created a bigger rift . lets all hope we can get some more guys in here and we can win 10 games this year. ( wishful thinking.)
This is a total bs call out thread!! You have the nerve to cry about people who disagreed with you constantly and NOW THIS?????? What you said was that you herd Drew say he and agents would steer their clients away from Miami. Which is obviously untrue because they've signed a few FA's already and we are not a whopping 4 days into being able to. So now I'm saying you're lying and searching so deep to try and prove yourself to be right so you can say i told you so. Losing respect by the second
Did they ever say they were going to go after FAs? I'm not sure how you reached the conclusion that we were interested in anyone, but they werent interested in us.
The burden of proof is on you. YOU have to prove that they said no to Miami. But what we can prove is Colombo, Burnett, Bush, all signed contracts with us. Williams got insane money. The only other Free Agent we were linked to was Ahmad Bradshaw and he seemed to want Williams money, which we weren't giving. If anything, that proves more than anything that money is the only thing that matters.
BS!! There are not any BIG name FA's and you never herd Drew say that! You have no proof and yet I provided a link that had Drew saying the exact opposite.
Whatever; too many message board lawyers up in here. The FACT is: whatever the details, the NET EFFECT of what Jake is saying is 100% correct—NO top free agents signed with Miami. NOT. ONE. History bears that out now.
No one said what he is saying!!! I'm one of them and I said top free agents will not shy away from the Dolphins if, for example, Houston offers 5 million, and Miami offers 5.5 He was saying that agents will be telling their clients not to come here....
So what Jake made up was that Drew said he and other agents would be steering their clients away from the Dolphins, and he's correct????? No, I don't think so...
Miami was tied to the Orton trade right? Orton knew he was due a nice bonus and for him to agree to a trade, he wanted big money. He is not a big big money Qb, and I surely hope Miami does not fall into this trap midway thru the preseason. Wether we like the trade for Bush, and I'm not estatic by any means, he was a big name guy...
Added: Bush Barnett JT Colombo Waiting on O'Hara, sounds like he has to run it be his manager ie his Wife before he decides. An okay FA class that addressed most of our needs, OL/OLB/replacing Crowder and Dobbins/more speed on offense in Bush. What I'm really waiting to see is how Sheets and Hilliard flash in the preseason games, that will go a long way to determing if we need a Vet Rb.
Posts were deleted thru out the thread so im not sure what you'll find.. http://www.thephins.com/forums/show...s-sources-say-we-have-interest-in-Reggie-Bush.
The way I look at it: Daniel Thomas & Lex are a big improvement over the slow, can't bust a big play & can't do crap on 1st down Ronnie & Ricky. We needed a back with some speed who's a threat in the passing game.......... we grab one of if not the best in the league. We need another playmaker on defense.................. we upgrade Crowder with Burnett. (that could be a big deal for our defense IMO) I want a WR and/or TE, but at least Bush & Burnett should make an impact barring injury. Considering we resigned all our key FAs, I think our net off season impact has been better than NY or Buffalo's.
Baldy, I love the fact that our Dline is outstanding enough to where we can bring in a player like Burnett who can worry more about making plays than plugging the run.
If anything, the "rah-rah crowd" all deserve the Congressional Medal of Honor for enduring your constant sniveling and whining.
The dude had 6 sacks, 2 picks and 70 tackles last year. Did Crowder have anything close to that for the past 2 years? This team got much better.
2 years? How about during his career? lol. 2.5 sacks & 1 INT in 6 seasons. Crowder hasn't had a forced fumble in the past 2 years...... to go with 5 PBUs.
Well according to the thread that Ozzy linked to ( Thank you Ozzy :P ) I could see how you would come to that interpretation of one of the posts. While not exact, I could see how he came to that interpretation. So apologies to Jake, and thanks to Ozzy
I'm thinking one critical reason for swapping in the more well rounded player in KB to replace the one dimensional run stuffer in CC, is because of NE. With Gronkowski and Hernandez, two TEs that can run and catch, we better have some alignment flexibility to better be able to match up with them. What I'm guessing is one can always play RILB and one can always play LILB and it won't matter if the offense is in two TE or if not which is the strong side. Also, we see a similar player in Dobbins be cut and the 3rd ILB job at this point go to the also very versatile AJ Edds. Granted, a step down as a run defender from Dobbins, but far better against the pass. Our formidable DL makes it easier to go away from the 2 down run stuffing ILB, for 3 guys who can be on the field for all three downs.
