http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ites-the-rest-of-league-to-beat-the-patriots/ OK he didn't challenge us specifically but if you've seen who our Week 1 opponent is...
Backhanded slap towards Miami imo , he is saying we have a 2 team race in this division , anyone else want to step up?
The Pats have lost 3 straight post season games, all as big favorites, all to run the ball-play defense teams, and they were held to 14 points or less in all 3 games IIRC.
Holmes and Cromartie are re-signed, I guess he can start talkin smack again. IMO we have a better team than the Jets this season, and we beat em 4 out of 6 even when we weren't the better team so color me not impressed.
Week 1, home underdogs, monday night, taste of last season still in our mouths? Definitely a trap game for NE.
In Week 1, with everyone pumped for the season, I think a lot of that isn't as big as say in Week 13. I just think we're good enough to win. We're absolutely good enough to compete and stick with them. It's just a matter of the team taking the next step and winning the game. The good news is that these guys have won big games starting in 2008 with Sparano, so it isn't like they don't know how to do it.
Hell, we were 4-2 in the division in 09. Would have been 5-1 if Henning hadn't made Ricky pass out of the WC. I am actually surprised we are playing the pats on MNF. I get the shivers just thinking about the Monday Night Meltdown last year.
No such thing as a trap game for NE with BB at the helm.....ESPECIALLY on opening night....if it were the end of a 3 game easy streak like say (Buffalo, Wash, and then Miami) or maybe after a big punishing game against Philly or the Jets, then yeah maybe a trap...but opening night no way.....NE will be as focused as ever..... Will Miami?
That should be taped on the walk out tunnel for the Phins. No crowder is needed to talk back, our play on the field, by the entire team, needs to be the response to Rex.
Every Rex Ryan thread needs a foot joke. Here goes: Rex Ryan wants to see who will step up to beat the Pats, but only cause he wants to check out their feet!
Obviously I hope you are correct. I see an unproven running game , behind a line that has as more concerns than positive givens , an average to slightly above average total receiving corp , and of course the QB position that is at best unproven at the productive level. Ohhhh and a coaching staff not at the level of the despised Jets ...
What player on the Jets defense would you take over our defense?... I'll start out, Revis??? Harris over Dansby?...???????
I'd take Jim Leonhard over any of our safeties. Both of their corners over ours right now. I'd take both of their ILB's over ours against the run, but certainly ours in coverage. That's an odd one and probably a cop out. The big difference is obviously up front and on the edge. No contest there except they've got a pretty good NT.
If you are talking pair for pair with the CBs then OK, but individually I'd take Davis over Cromartie. More upside, less baggage Speaking of Rex, did you see the tattoo he got. Me thinks old Rex is going through a mid-life crisis.
Revis over Davis or Smith. That's it. they have a couple of good linebackers with Harris and Scott to make it a tough decision, but I'd still go with our starting four.
Hate to say this, but I doubt this is a trap game for that squad. With BB having the whole offseason to game plan for us...They'll be ready. And under Sparano, our teams have always started off slowly...don't get your hopes up...
Two short years ago the Bills and Patriots played a Monday night game on Week 1. Anybody remember how close the Bills came to winning it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PeYUBbGkuE
I guess you didn't see the Pats almost lose to Buffalo as double digit favorites on Monday night vs Buffalo in 09. Down 11 w/ 2 mins to go, they scored, Buffalo fumbles the KO, they score again. They win. Belichek is a good coach, but there's no need to turn him into some kinda messiah.
he cant put it down because he would be forced to continue triping out players out of bounds . say what you will about Channing Crowder but he was always good for a laugh !!
Rex Ryan is a guy we love to hate, what a character. I'd love to close a deal sending Sparano to the Jets in exchange for Ryan. Rex has proven his worth as head coach & is very entertaining
I'll just say that there will be a lot working in our favor. Monday night, at home, underdogs, vs the same team that destroyed us the last time we were on the field and embarrassed us in our own house last time we played on Monday night. If our guys are ever going to come out fired up for a game, it's going to be that one. For New England it's just another game, same old Dolphins.
I would like nothing more than to get our new offense clicking and jam the ball down this obnoxious a$$holes throat.
