Now that almost all the decent FA RB are gone they'll be talkin .......... Prediction : They FO will miss out on Ricky (no biggy but probably about the best available out there for us at this stage) and that by the middle of the season we will be scanning the waiver wire for a RB....... They just keep doing the same stupid stuff......
I agree with Coach Sparano on this one. The fans who were booing on Monday night are ignorant and need to class it up a bit. It's quite disgraceful.
Yep, this sums it up nice and ez for me. New OC, some new players around him. I am still not giving up on Henne, but now there should be no excuse to be able to improve upon last year's figures.
I don't like booing the home team or its players and I don't do it. I don't think it is productive at all and think it is quite the opposite. But I recognize people have a right to do it and voice their opinions. I just wish they wouldn't do it that way. That said, I have a little different take on how Sparano should have handled the Harbaugh thing and how he should handle the Orton thing. Instead of grousing and sulking about the Harbaugh flirtation, I think Tony should have come out and said he understood why they were looking into other options. That the team's performance and his own performance the last few years wasn't good enough. That the expectation should be excellence and he and the team didn't show that the last few years. That he and the FO are constantly looking to upgrade at every position and that everyone should realize that you either perform or you risk being replaced. But that he understands the problems and has solutions. That poor performance last year doesn't mean that it will continue this year and that he is confident that it won't and is grateful for the opportunity to prove to Ross and Ireland that he is deserving of the second chance. With the Orton-Henne thing, I think he should have gone with that same theme. That Henne's performance last year wasn't good enough. That the team will investigate any option that might improve the team. But that Henne's subpar performance last year is in the past and what matters now is the present and the future. That Henne has the talent and skills to be a very good QB and that they have confidence in him. That he has been working very hard and is improving and they are confident that he will continue to improve. That he doesn't like to hear the booing, but that Chad is a big boy and can handle it. It shouldn't affect him and it won't. That he is confident that Chad will make the most of this opportunity. That the team is rallying around him and that it would be helpful to the team and to Chad if the fans did too.
I find it funny that everyone just gives up on Henne. He shouldn't of even seen the field until this year coming up but rather then having time to develop he's throw out on the field where guys like Manning have struggled their first couple of years. I don't know if I'm exactly sold on Henne because he shouldn't have been even playing yet. What I do know is this kid started 4 years at Michigan and for qb to go and start all 4 years at one of the biggest schools on the nation for football, tells me that maybe just maybe Henne DOES have the tools to be a great player at the NFL level
Chad Henne got a full year on the bench behind a consumante pro in Pennington which is alot more than most rookies get nowadays. somehow Matt ryan, Flacco, Bradford, even Sanchez have come through it just fine.
Here's a simple question. This forum has thousands of posters. How many would be booing Henne at practice, and chanting for Orton? Stand up, and be counted.
That's the part I've never understood. Why is anyone shelling out the cash for season tickets. I dumped mine the year after Johnson left. Just saying.
Well, as a season ticket holder it's like crack. I'm convinced that the year I give up the tickets they'll make a super Bowl run. The tix have been in my family for years and this is probably it, unless they either win or make major changes.
I don't cheer or boo really. I'm generally pretty relaxed. But I think people should boo if that is what they felt.
I am glad tony came out and said that and I agree with him, but you got to agree that its frustrating to us that its been 10 plus years since Dan and we cant even get a solid qb. Then this off season comes and it seem like we didnt even try to get a qb. It must suck being boo'd but Chad hasnt really proven to us that he deserves to be the number 1 qb and the front office went out and got Matt Moore to compete with Chad Henne this year........its a bit frustrating. I think some of the kyle orton chant is directed at Chad Henne but I also think a lot of it is torwards the front office and how they need to go after a qb that can win games for us, because so far Chad Henne hasnt done it
Maybe he can go watch Carpenter kick field goals. That would make him feel better. Standing up for your guy is pretty easy to do when all other options have fallen through. Just ask Mr. Ross...
Flacco had an awesome oline and rushing attack, Bradford is a number one overall pick please don't compare to henne but didn't do anything warranting of a great qb title, Matt Ryan has roddy white and Tony Gonzalez even sanchez had Holmes and Edwards who both saved him from many interceptions. Henne had who exactly Ted ginn and devin bess with a senile coordinator, good comparison bro....
In a game, I could agree. In practice, no way. Fans throughout the NFL are laughing, as well they should. JMO
Last year he had Brandon Marshall plus Bess, plus a really good defense that kept him in basically every game. Yeah our running game wasn't great but he had opportunities to win several more games and he didn't come through. You need to accept that Henne simply isn't as good as the Ryans and Bradfords of the world and is barely on the level of Flacco and Sanchez.
Sanchez at least has balls. He's not afraid to be aggressive and make plays. and he has significantly less starting experience than Henne. I think he had 16 sarts in college and now two years in the pros. He still has a higher ceiling. Henne is what he is after 6 years of starting at the two highest levels of football
Most fans think they know better than anyone else, and especially about their own team. But that was horrible. With that said, Sparano better hope things get better with the team he is running because to date, color me what ever color that means not impressed! We all herd about the Orton trade negotiations so I think Henne probably thinks less of those who recently tried to replace him over what FANS have to say.
Yeah, I get that, but I still enjoy going, being outside, hanging with the family. I don't know. I'll see what happens.
You forgot to mention the offensive line that couldn't block a high school football team or the fact that after henne (an already not very mobile guy) hurt his leg our offensive coordinator was calling roll outs..... Henne deserves another year, what's the point of bringing in a qb like orton and wasting draft picks when he's not even much improvement over Henne if at all. There's a reason broncos want to get rid of him... Only guy I'd pick up that would be an improvement would be Palmer but since he's retired guess that doesn't help
I think you're right on with the first part but as to the last part, please...don't tempt fate. You know they'll do it.
Maybe Henne will feel better about his confidence when he moves our offense into the red zone and they don't bench him for the wildcat this year.
So he was supposed to say he wanted Orton too? If you were Sparano, you wouldn't have had a job today.
Ah blow it out of your finely manicured *** . They were in love with Gibril Wilson right before they cut him. That's what you're supposed to do.
I agree with 3 out of 4 of his statements, if you're tracking. I may even agree on all four, depending on the context and meaning of the declaration that the booing was horrible. I actually agree it was horrible. But not horrible in the vein of "So and so robbed a liquor store, that's horrible". More like, horrible that the situation happened, for whatever reason it happened. Horrible that the Dolphins are in such a terrible situation to where their starting QB is getting booed at night scrimmages. That's horrible. But that doesn't mean I think it's wrong to do it. Just a bad situation to be in all the way around.
Hold on a second, while I don't agree with the fans chanting that I do believe they have the right to do so. Hennes isn't a rookie or a second year player hes 3 years into this and we are still asking ourselves if we have a franchise QB or simply a caretaker. If it's the later and that what the front office believes than shame on them for dragging this out. I honestly don't think Henne will be the QB to lead us anywhere regardless of who we have on offense. His play over the last 3 years has been inconsistent and hes been called out by his coaches and Bill over the years for things. Telling us he's going to be better and showing us are two totally different things and I can understand the fans (and it's not just ours) that love the backup player. Were not stupid and instead of doing what needs to be done regardless of the costs for the good of the franchise as a whole we get these coaches trying to sometimes fit square pegs into a round hole and hoping it somehow stays in there. Again I don't agree we should be being negative at practices, etc but the fans are not dumb and trying to shovel **** down our throats and than getting mad at the fans for realizing it don't taste good just proves how inept this staff is becoming.
Bottom line: I don't care if Henne is fragile; I don't care if he's a nice guy; I don't care if he works with orphan children in all his spare time. I don't care if he's Mother ****ing Teresa. He's an athlete in a spectator sport; he's subject to judgment, and both praise and derision. **** him if he can't take a few chants. And **** coach meathead while we're at it.
