If "We Want Orton" hurt Henne's feelings, "We Want Favre" might send him into a crippling depression.
Sigh. I won't become a fan of another team...I'm too old for that. But I am thinking I might just stop watching the NFL for a while. The Dolphins just depress me.
When you're in a situation where you'd actually need a 41 year old quarterback come out of retirement in order to bring "hope" to your locker room, your first point of business shouldn't be to sign that 41 year old QB but to fire whoever brought you into that position to begin with and start the building process anew. If we really need Favre, we're even more ****ed up than I thought we were.
Hah..I have this picture of Sparano and Daboll in Southern Mississippi in a sort of remake of "My cousin Vinny" What's a ute?
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/08/04/the-favre-watch-is-on-in-miami/ Florio on Favre. Makes one excellent point that I agree with. Dave Hyde likely didn't just dream up the Favre column this morning. He heard something. an inkling something and he went with it. Tony then gets asked about it and doesn't rule it out. We're in "trial balloon" stage. If the fans start chanting "We want Favre" this thing is likely to move to the next level
Sparano is so tight with ball control and no turnovers there is no way that we bring Mr. INT himself in. No way this happens.
If it happens, it better happen quick. Last thing we need is for this drama to drag on, and for Favre to come in last minute w/o knowing the offense...
Hope is a good thing, Red, maybe the best of things, and a good thing never dies. I just thought of The Shawshank Redemption, not just because of the word "hope," but because Brett Favre is older than Morgan Freeman.
If Ireland and Sparano go for Brett Farve....
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/08/04/the-favre-watch-is-on-in-miami/ PFT on Favre. We're in "trial balloon" stage. If the fan reaction is positive we move to phase 2
I'm not interested in blowing up the roster and rebuilding right now. All this team really needs is a QB. We probably won't get one this season, but in order to keep the team you have to do something to address the position now.
But this is what I am talking about, why would Sparano even say that....? Why back Henne, and then leave this as a possibility? When you know more likely than not there is no way of this happening....Why after all the "too hyped" circus of the chanting of Orton would you bring the mother of all hype into the fold.... Things like this make me really wonder if TS is in over his head with this coaching thing.... I just want to see Henne get one last shot, one fair last shot.....Brett effing Favre really?
Let's look on the bright side, Rachel Nichols may end up having to wear a tank-top on camera when she files her daily reports from South Beach due to the heat. So....that's something.
You have to look at it from the perspective of the guys in the locker room. If one player is holding 52 back, then you need to do anything and everything possible to improve that one position, or you're its going to have long-term effects.
If this happens, I will never defend this regime again. I've found a way to see the silver lining in almost every move so far, but this would deplete all optimism moving forward. Please...don't let this be true.
LOL, they head down there with Sparano as Joe Pesci? "Hey Brett, we added some new utes to the offense... and we're going for a more uteful, spry and run & gun offensive system this year" Seriously though, I was kidding with the whole Joe Theismann thing in case the FO does happen to peruse these forums.
Which you could argue Farve did with the Jets and Vikings, yes he had a good 2009 season, but look at last year with a leaky O-line, ours could be worse. I don't think Farve peps up the team, I think it makes the team say WTF? And after 2 hits, Henne is the QB anyway.
Sounds like TS laughed at first, as to indicate he was joking when answering the question.....again why?
If I knew they were going after Favre I would've jumped on the McNabb bandwagon. Everytime Favre gets sacked I would assume he's done. Is he even healthy? There is also no way he plays in 2012, then what? Now, I'm desperate to win a playoff game, but even that isn't a guarantee with Favre. See: Vikings, 6-10 2010. Jets, 9-7 2008 with late season collapse. I doubt it though, HENNE is going to start week 1. I don't believe Favre is playing.
It's almost as if the media got together and came up with something that would be FANTASTIC for them to write about and generate tons of media stories (and national attention for THEM) over the next few weeks! This Favre thing is ENTIRELY to benefit the media here. The funny thing will be if it has the accidental effect of convincing the Dolphins to seriously consider signing the old fart.
They probably would say WTF, but at the same time they'd probably say "at least they did something". The fact is if Henne comes out and plays poorly this season, then there is still at least a chance Favre could do better.
I didn't say we should blow up the roster and I didn't say we should rebuild. I said we should get a new front office and start building a team if this FO really wants to lure Favre out of retirement.
I would rather us go 0-16 with Henne than 8-8 with Favre. Favre won't help with the longterm future of this team, and that is all that matters to me right now. I can't see this team winning anything worthwhile this year.
I think Henne could be good this year, I think Moore could be good this year, I think Favre could be good this year. Honestly, if any of the three turns in any sort of above average production, we are a playoff team. As for the drama, if Henne or Moore fails, we are done anyway (with Sparano). To quote Theoden in The Two Towers, "If this is to be our end, then I would give us such an end to be remembered." Basically, why the hell not?
You people are really disillusioned if you think an old, battered, likely out for the season by game 3, ineffective Brett Favre can come in here and raise this team to a level above where it currently sits. We might as well bring back Chad Pennington and hope he can recapture his 2008 magic. At least all the Henne vs Orton and Henne vs VY threads had at least a thread of logic on both sides. Unbelievable.
So Sparano said he won't rule anything out with respect to Favre. That means one of two things. Either: 1) Sparano is actually considering signing Favre; or 2) He's not considering signing Favre, and has absolutely NO IDEA how to deal with the media. Either way, he's a moron!
And I'm saying that if Henne plays poorly, and this organization doesn't address the QB position in some form or fashion, then you're going to see a lot of good, developing, young players quit on the team. It doesn't matter if you change the front office or not. If the team doesn't believe the organization is 100% committed to winning in 2011, they are going to check out. How will Brandon Marshall react if Henne plays poorly? It won't matter if there is a new FO. Nobody is going to want to stick around and lose money while the QB position is left unaddressed.
yeah the surgeon who performed the reduction should be brought before some sort of international crimes tribunal and be turned into a eunich.
Brett Farve lol and the Hits keep rolling on...........how bout Kerry Collins ha ha Now well start hearing how great Brett Fave is Wake up Fans
Anything but this. I havent said anything negative about the moves this off season yet but this one would be terrible.
