No we don't. The other 15 teams in the East are our enemies. They are rivals for a precious playoff seed. They can go 0-82 into perpetuity for all I care.

Besides Golden State, it would be nice to see New Orleans make a run just to shut some people up.

lol..if you look at it THAT way every single team in the NBA is our "Enemy". And sorry we have never been a "rival" to the Celtics this yr. And for the record, I never said "we". :wink2:.

I am rooting for Golden State. One of my favorite players has always been Baron Davis.

Monta Ellis is my favorite young player not named Wade.

I love crazy *** S. Jackson as well. He is my favorite crazy person.

    All Wacko NBA Team:

    PG G. Arenas
    SG S. Jackson
    SF R. Artest
    PF K. Martin
    C R. Wallace

Coach: Ron Rothstein / Stan Van Gundy

It's so difficult to talk Miami Heat basketball without knowing where we're picking.

I wish the lottery happened directly after the season.

BREAKIN G NEWS: Pat Riley will step down as Head Coach. (This afternoon)

Speculation is that Eric Spoelstra will be named the New Head Coach.

I'm hoping for Avery Johnson to be fired........and hired. Probably a 2% chance both happen, though.

EDIT: Well, looks like we already have our coach.

POOR decision by Riley to leave last year's team with Rothstein while he scouted.

BTW..Jorge Sedano is confirming that Spoelstra is the coach and that D-Wade lobbied for him to get the job if Riley left.

Yep. It was Spoelstra who pushed extremely hard for Miami to select Wade in 2004, by the way. Doubt he had as much pull with the organization then that he does now, but there were quite a few pushing for Wade when Riley was leaning towards selecting Chris Kaman.

I'm happy with Spoelstra. He has a great bond with Wade, and head coach/superstar relationships are as important as can be. See Riley/O'Neal for the negative effect.

Pat Riley made basketball relevant in South Florida.

Erik Spoelstra's challenge will be to keep it that way.

Van Gundy admitted he holds a grudge against the entire Heat organization for the deal in '06 with Stan and Pat Riley coming back. His opinions regarding the Heat are to be discarded.

With Rile's out the door I wouldnt be surprised if Williams and Zo retire. Maybe nt Williams, but Zo for sure. Thats a given, though.

Ugh, thats who Pat Riley wanted to draft a few years back. Luckily Spoelstra talked him into drafting Wade. Id rather have Calderon than Ford...

Doubtful. Riley is still running the show, and we all know how he feels about smaller point guards. Hell, Jameer Nelson's size alone is the reason why we selected Dorell Wright a few years ago, IMO.

I believe Chris Kaman was Riley's guy. I know he had a high grade on Hinrich & Sweetney as well.

Two years ago we had a Championship Parade, and now we're having an NBA Draft Lottery Party on May 20th. - But yeah, I can't wait. God forbid we fail to land a 2 top pick. I think I'd cry as much as I like Mayo and Bayless.

    Just thought I'd share,

Erik Spoelstra was on WSVN's Sports Extra last night. He was asked about the transition from assistant coach to head coach, and whether or not it would be difficult to have the players look at him as the boss. He said that Miami's assistant coaches the past few years weren't your average NBA assistant coaches who sit in the background and show support - he had a ton of big time responsibilities, and the players already respect his new title. Also spoke on the lottery and said that he doesn't see a single ounce of a drop off between picks 1-2 and 3-4. Didn't mention any prospect names of course. Spo did however, mention the 2003 draft where it was a "must" to have the 1st or 2nd pick for LeBron or Melo (although Detroit screwed that up) and this Dwyane Wade kid "turned out to be pretty good"

My impression of Spo is quite refreshing. Really brings that "young" feel to the franchise.

I got a source on all things Miami Heat that would knock Ira Winderman's socks off.

Talked to my source twice and the staff recommendation is Derreck Rose.

Trying to fix point guard once and for all?

What if we get the #1 pick--is it still Rose?

I was told that the staff is almost unanimous on the choice.

It is still up to Pat Riley though.

Wow. Derrick Rose over Michael Beasley. That's nuts. But I suppose we need stellar point guard play over an upgrade at power forward. Plus we've still got Shawn Marion for another year. Is Wade/Marion/Rose better than Wade/Marion/Beasley? That's tough...

I think Beasley would provide the most potential, but Rose is a huge upgrade at point guard.

I think that Beasley may be the better player but that Rose would improve our team the most.

Derrick Rose has been a lock for the #1 pick (if we're blessed) since Pat Riley's scouting trip.

The Heat sent a scout to Cleveland for some reason.

Are there any free agents that Boston or Cleveland have that are worth anything?

i think it had to do with that series because the scout left last week and is due back today.

Joe Smith and Daniel Gibson certainly come to mind, especially the ladder.

I believe Delonte West has a QO.

While Baron is a great player, i dont think we could afford him. Plus i don't know if i want such an injury prone backcourt with Baron n Wade
