He'll be the same as what Jeff Van Campfodder would have been IMO.

Yeah I agree with that. You were just saying if you're going to have a camp arm you might as well have someone with more hope than Tom Brandstater. Here he is. Our new Tom Brandstater.

Anyone know about O'Connell? It shows he has four years experience on NFL.com but only shows two seasons' stats.

Yep, sounded like a more than a few of Brandstaters passes were coming up a bit short. New arm for camp I guess.

He played against us in 08 I believe.

He's become quite the AFCE whore.

Tom Brandstater isn't even fit to play Tom Brandstater. They hired Kevin O'Connell to play Tom Brandstater instead.

    Kevin O'Connell had a stellar 2010 preseason: 8 of 16 for 70 yards (4.4 YPA) with 0 TDs, 2 INTs.

ALMOST as good as his 2009 preseason: 12 of 26 for 108 yards (4.2 YPA) with 0 TDs, 2 INTs.

Kind of on par with his 2008 preseason: 15 of 32 for 142 yards (4.4 YPA) with 1 TD, 2 INTs.

    I miss Tom Brandstater already.

From what I recall off the top of my head he was drafted in the 3rd round by NE some years back, and then the Jets dealt a late round pick for him.

A lot of people liked his upside, but he apparently has never started to really cash in on it.

    Not exaclty "Mr. August"

Can't imagine he sticks on the 53 with Devlin around, so not much ado about nothing at all

Given his experiences, maybe O'Connell is here to pump valuable information out of him.

Like Ryan Lindley's favorite color, drink of choice, favorite shoes, etc...

    Maybe he plays some TE.

This sounds like a guy we may want info out of to beat the Jets with. If thats the case, good signing by the FO.

Camp arm sounds like, and at this point in time there just is not a whole lot out there to bring in, maybe a UFLer but otherwise..not so much unless anyone would like to revisit Daunte Culpepper? JP Losman?

Now what O'Connel did provide was a chance to deflate Pete King's balloon on draft day, he was crowing about the patsies landing Mallet, I brought up O'Connell...he blubbered.

Nothing to see here with this signing. O'connell will likely be gone before someody writes about him again.

And please don't remind me about Daunte Culpepper. I can't relive that decision again

To be fair Pad, Mallett was a much better prospect than O'conell. O'conell was a third rounder who went in the third round. Mallett was a borderline 1st rounder who went in the 3rd.

That's being kind to the Patriots. When O'Connell went in the 3rd round, most (including me) thought that was a round or two too early. Of course, that was QUICKLY forgotten, because the Patriots took him, and they have this mystique about them to where if 31 other teams would have taken the guy, it'd have been a reach...but when they do it, it's not.

I do not see the difference in terms of what I zinged King about, namely whatever the patsies do is "blessed" when the inconvenient fact of the matter is brought up he no likey, it is simply not on his view screen.

    WOW

What a bunch of doubting Thomas's.......

    Look at the bright side......................?

Well at least they picked up a QB, I was wondering if they remembered the position at all. More competition for Henne sad to say looks like a fight for 3rd string..... I wonder if he can play OL............

Things have gone so far down they are starting to come up....

The positives we have is a FO thats naturally building the franchise toward the "suck for Luck" maybe this isn't as bad as I thought. Been 10 years of doo doo whats one more........little expectations little pain....

I actually liked O'Connell coming out of college before the Pats and Jets RUINED him :shifty: He's an incredible athlete. Think he ran 4.6 40 or there abouts. He can throw the ball. But he has a little Henneitis when it comes to accuracy and decision making. Maybe they are going to put his legs on Henne's body?
