Per rotoworld, ah, Wayne Hunter is the new RT, they've lost: -Brad Smith -Braylon Edwards -Tony Richardson retired -Cotchery -Jason Taylor -could lose Shaun Ellis -I think their Punter as well (remember when folks were down on Wake because the punter picked up a first down on a fake? Where oh where are they now?) Retained: -Brodney Poole -S Holmes -D Harris -Brunnell So basically their Wr corps has been turned over and they have a new RT and still do not have a passrusher?
IDK Bro, I usually like Vet Players on the cheap coming off of productive seasons but look at it this way: Would you trade, straight up: -Braylon Edwards -Brad Smith -Jerricho cotchery For Derrick Mason Plex Burress? They did keep Eric Smith and think they resigned A Coleman two Db's.
The last time an "old" Wr corps worked was the early 00's Raiders with Rice and Brown, since then...not so much.
How exactly are they getting older? It's proven in all sports that you win by drafting well developing core players than building around that in free agency and w trades etc... Revis, sanchez, Harris, mangold, brick, Greene, sign them long term and build around it...with playmakers ie holmes, LT, Cro and wily vets...
The comment was mainly in reference to plax and mason. ones 34 and the others 36. Holmes is 27, and very very good, but those other two guys, whom are both possession players, could be a damper on their offense. Edwards and Smith made a lot of plays for that team down the stretch. Plays that plax and Mason aren't capable of.
They do not know if he will sign in NJ? That makes the Edwards 3.5 million dollar deal a bit stranger.
Jets have been decimated by free agency and the salary cap, as predicted in this forum last January. They are running out a CFL team at best.
Your passing game has been weakened. Losing Edwards, Cotch, and Smith is going to hurt more than you think. How many big plays did Smith make in the wildcat last year? I remember him always making big plays vs the Phins at least. Replacing them with a 2 year out of football 34 year old receiver and a great but now 37 year old (this is the age issac bruce started falling off who IMO is a good comparison to Mason) receiver is a downgrade whether Jets fans want to admit it or not.
that is surprising, and a bad sign for the Jets as over the last 2 yrs they pretty much have landed every FA they have targeted, now they have missed on Mason and Aso.
I agree with you. I liked Cotchery a lot and be will be missed. However, I do think Plaxico will have a decent year. He should be able to haul in some jump balls, especially near the goal line. Smith is the biggest loss because he was so versatile. I don't know who they can use in the wildcat to replace him. The point of my tongue in cheek post was that the Jets didn't lose all the players that some said they would. And their cap situation is not as bad as predicted either. I'm set for another season of heartbreak. Such is the life of a Jets fan Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
In Miami, with the pessimistic outlook of fans, there is no time for heartbreaks later in the season. They figure everything out ahead of time.
Not sure how replacing Edwards and Cotchery with Mason and Plax improves their team, but as a Dolphins fan, I don't mind a rival getting worse.
You'll be lucky if he has a decent year, Vick didnt do **** his first year back from Prison and he is younger than Plax.
The point remains Bick, the only balls Plax has been catching the past 2 years were in his mouth. He will be incredibly rusty, he needs a year off as Vick did.
I'm sure he will be rusty. I just don't think it will take as long to come back at WR and it would as QB.
