A digression, whilst O'Connell is not the largest of moves, one would think the Guru types would be astute enough to mention that meant Devlin is cemented into the #3 Qb role, and further, they perhaps could further mention that at one time in in 2010 perhaps they were quite high on Mr Devlin, only to lose ardor after a poor pre draft period.

BTW, if I occasionally mistake Pat Devlin for Joe Devlin, here is why:

7 on 7 should make the QB's look good, but yeah, Henne has been better the last two days. good for him.

M Moore has not really shown much...yet...Devlin and Henne have positive stuff coming out more consistently...Jerry O'Connell was last seen with a tray of Gatoraid bottles.

Don't think so. Odrick is a #2 right now behind starks/Langford. Though he might be moving up.

I've already stated Pat Devlin will be the #3 QB in about as certain terms as you can ask. In fact, when it became apparent the Dolphins are heading into the season with Chad Henne, Matt Moore and Pat Devlin, I offered to lay money on a wager that says Pat Devlin starts a game.

Not my fault if you missed it, and make ignorant assumptions.

And color me a non-believer of this whole "IT WAS DEVLIN THEY WANTED ALL ALONG!" conspiracy theory.

I would not be shocked either if Devlin starts a game at some point or surpasses Moore at #2. We have so little at the position that nothing would surprise me.

The fact that Henne going 4-6 in 7 on 7 drills is some kind of cause for celebration tells you all you need to know about our QB situation.

That's concerning. We knew he had a tendency to snap those shotgun snaps high, but so high it goes up his bung?

I'm glad you responded Ck, I brought that up simply because at one time you were a Strong Buyer of Pat Devlin's game, that flipped, and I'm curious how that works, meaning prior to not liking his game, why did you like his game previously?

And at the end of the day, does in game College performance mean anything as compared to NFL translatable skillset?

IIRC I really liked the quickness of his release, up and gone, up and gone, reminded me of Marino, maybe you had this one right, then out thought it, and changed your mind?

    Honestly:

    :dunno:

I just question whether or not his better is really that good.

the 9 route that gates runs with ease is all we need from him in the beginning, that will help a lot underneath imo, also sheets seems also to be a player not just a talker, although i agree ITS EARLY

John Jerry is being tried out as a starter on the flipside.

First, shocked to see that. And secondly, could Omar be any less specific? I'm assuming he means at left guard?

If Henne takes the step this year that I hoped for last year I will be happy. I just need to see something out of this guy. THe one thing that I definately want to see corrected is his ball placement. He rarely hits guys where they can make some YAC. He either made them stop for the ball or would throw it in a position that would make them adjust some other way that they could not continue their direction.

Omar tries too hard to sound cool. But yes, he likely means Jerry is playing left guard in this practice. Moving Carey to RG puts Jerry out of a presumptive starter's job there, might as well give him some time on the left side.

I know this is too early in his career to say it, but I hope John Jerry wasn't another wasted attempt at throwing something at the OL and hoping it worked. Even though I'm a fan of drafting to fill projected needs 3 years from now, Jerry was drafted to start right away at RG.

Thanks for clarifying. It's starting to sound like John Jerry is indeed going the way of Donald Thomas and Shawn Murphy. What are your thoughts on the current OL? I think there's a lack of athleticism with Incognito and Carey at the G spots. Personally, I didn't think Incognito was all that good at anything last year, but I know he's a Sparano favorite. I was hoping they'd take a look at a more athletic LG, but it appears they won't be.

I was high on him due to his background and having seen one game.

Then I saw about five games.

Then I saw him up close in Shrine practices.

Then I saw him in the Shrine Game.

Does that answer that for you?

He's not without hope, I've been candid about his strengths and his weaknesses. But, he's a low odds bet.

I think you're underrating Carey. He just turned 30, yes, but he's always been a very good lineman, and 2010 was the only time in his career he's been banged up. I like the idea of Carey and Colombo on the OL if both are healthy and ready to go, and it appears that they are. Don't really have a problem there, especially after Carey's restructuring. That right side will be a long-term issue (Colombo is 32, Carey is 30) but for 2011-12 it'll be fine. I sort of wish we had signed Marshal Yanda or drafted Ben Ijalana if we wanted to tinker with that right side, but Carey and Colombo are solid.

The left side, though… I do agree that Incognito at LG is… not desirable. I don't understand why we gave him a 3 year contract extension when he's merely average at best. I think that was a bit of a "What else can we do?" type move by Ireland. Just have to cross our fingers and hope.

Overall I think the OL is better than it was last year, and we're just going to have to deal with constant tinkering. The right side will have to be rebuilt in a couple of years, Jake Long will have to get paid next year, and then we'll have to figure out what to do with LG again.

Why they don't put Nate Garner at RT is utterly beyond me! The guy can play. OG, with the Carey move there, is getting crowded, and do they really think Garner doesn't have a serious shot to be better than either Murtha or Colombo? Come on. He certainly has the height and size to play RT and he's simply a quality NFL lineman.

Irony - Sparano came in as the OL guru ... and, as with so many coaches, I'm finding his work to be pitiful in the decisions he makes there. He doesn't have the control of a HC like Parcells forcing him to be smart and he out smarts himself.

You're questioning the fact that he's playing better. You had a notion and you don't want to give it up. It may not work out regardless, but that's how I read it.

I'm encouraged that Henne came out, addressed the booing, and has now put together two or three good practices in a row.
