Yes, the team in aggregate. But the defense was significantly better than the offense last season. But if you disagree with that assessment, you are more than welcome to your opinion.

I understand that part. However, I just get tired of everyone giving the entire team except Henne a pass. The defense was average last year when you look at points allowed. Henne, when you look at his stats, was about average too. Now, if people want to cherry pick they can make the defense look top 5 and Henne bottom 5...but overall they were what they were. And all are young, playing for a mess of an organization. If you give the defense slack because of those things why not Henne? That's my point.

If the defense had played better...if the RB's had played better...if the OC had called the games better they may have won 2-3 more games too.

Yes, but the defense wasn't significantly better than Henne.

Browns game and the the 2nd Bills games come to mind, the Lions game as well.

Simple mistakes if he overcomes he will win more games, my issue with that is I'm not willing to risk a season on Henne overcoming them.

    Give up?

Not a chance. This will easily be the best team (top to bottom) our Dolphins will be fielding in a very long time. It seems the big question marks are at RT and QB. Considering over 40 guys have responsibilities on game day, I like the odds.

VD, Y Bell and CC are no longer the fastest guys on the team and if Grigsby makes the 54 there will be 3 guys on offense who are faster.

Really good offseason for Ireland and Co.

As much as I liked the Dansby and Marshall signings last year, I'm happy they didn't go overboard this year. The Burnett signing seems like a no brainer and JT never should have been allowed to leave in the first place at the vet minimum. Parcells may have ambushed his guys but they seem to have held their own.

He's always been optimistic about the young guys and actually developing players. Not so much about the vets.

I have to admit, I'm pretty surprised he posted this with Marshall and JT on the roster.

10 years since Marino and still no QB?

    Instability. Starts with the owners.

Just another average team until we get a QB

    Context Padre...context.

Browns game--- Dolphins "D" give up nearly 100 yards receiving to TWO different receivers. Delhomme had something like a 100 QBR.

And didn't the Browns slaughter the Pats 34 -14 while holding Brady to less than 220 yards passing?

2nd Bills game--- Henne threw the ball 45 times. Stat-wise he was equal with Fitz, except he was asked to do much more. In fact, Miami's offense out gained the Bills "O" by more than 50 yards.

And again, the Bills held Brady to under 250 yards passing in one game and under 150 yards in another.

Lions--- Again Henne throws the ball 45 times in this game. The Dolphins offense gains 150 more yards than the Lions. Yet the Dolphins defense gave up 27 points to a team that averaged 21 ppg all season long. And didn't the Jets squeak out a win against the Lions in OT? I mean, 23 points was enough for the jets to win, but 27 wasn't good enough for the Dolphins?

Maybe because in their 3rd year the defense was in the top 10, and the QB was in the bottom 5 of the league ?

I am not "giving up" on this team in the sense that I will still root for them. But I don't believe in our coach or his staff and I certainly have no confidence in our QB, our offensive line (other than Jake Long), our running game or our special teams. We made some moves in the offseason that COULD improve our O line, running game and special teams, but we've done nothing at all---successfully at least---to address our glaring needs at QB or repair our broken coaching staff. There is always a chance that the horse will learn to sing, but if I were forced to make a prediction for this season, I would say we will be no better than 8 wins and more likely somewhere around 6.

The defense was/is strong at all three levels. The QB was part of an offense that was not strong throughout. Will the moves we made make us better on offense? None of us really know, so all we can do is guess. If you feel better taking a negative outlook, go ahead. I'd rather remain optimistic until shown otherwise.

BTW, Henne was 26th in QB rating, that is not bottom 5, it is bottom 7. No need to make it any worse than it was. He had help achieving that QB rating though.

    Actually...

The Dolphins defense was ranked 14th.

Henne has only 2 years as a starter and if you go by QBR he was not bottom 5.

If you average the last two seasons the defense was ranked 20th and Henne was ranked 24th.

I will give Chad Henne the benefit of the doubt because the Dolphins didn't really let him grow for a while there.

Remember the use of the Wild Cat? That's murder for a young QB. He never got to develop a rhythm and really commandeer the offense.
