Over the years we have had many different faces people associated with the Miami Dolphins. There was Zonk, Griese, No Names, Shula, Marino, Marks Brothers, JJ, JT, ZT, R&R, the Wildcat, and even the Big Three of Tuna, Sparano, and Ireland were used on billboards and adds. We were talking at Happy Hour yesterday about who, or what, is now that face, and we had many different thoughts but nothing really stood out. I even suggested that someone, more talented than myself, come up with a phace for the Phist Pump, and we name him. Who, or what, would you name as the face of our team or, who might rise to that level this season?
It's got to be Henne, if only for the reason that everybody associates us with him. I am in Connecticut, amongst annoying Pats fans, and everytime we talk Dolphins Henne gets brought up. The face of a franchise is not always the best or most popular player, in my opinion. I am on the Henne bandwagon and I think he will make his face a positive one after this season. But for better or worse, it's Chad Henne right now. I think...
The biggest names currently are Long, Wake and Marshall. I think that Henne, Bush, Dansby and Davis/Smith have the potential due to talent, position, name recognition to be the face if they have big years.
hard to argue with those three. If Marshall catches more TDs, like I expect, I see him as our new face.
That's because we need to get the story out that he was literally destroying concrete walls by swinging a medicine ball. I mean that sounds like a made up Chuck Norris fact, except this is real.
We all thought the same, although he is more than worthy. We had a problem with Marshall because of off field problems. Wake came the closest but, has to repeat what he did. One year is just not enough. By the end of Happy Hour, and many a beer, Phist Pumps was the winner, and a computer site designer was going to draw something up. IF he does, I'll post it. One othe thought, which I liked was giving the D a name, and letting them be the face this year. Any ideas?
The new face of this franchise should have been Ryan Mallet. He destroyed the SEC, last year why we did not pick this guy is beyond me. Its moves like this that makes this franchise the laughing stock of the NFL. Right now anytime I tell someone I am a Dolphins fan, all they do is laugh and say I am sorry. How can you have a franchise face when you keep picking OL, in the first round. To me having a solid QB, is way more important that having a solid Center. Mallet is just going to turn out to be one more great QB we passed on, because the front office didn't have the guts to draft a QB, instead we are stuck with Matt Moore. And these guys actually get paid for making these dumb moves. Its going to be a long season!
Chad Henne is the face of our franchise at this point - good or bad. Everything is riding on his production. It may not be the way we WANT him to be the face of the franchise, but he is nonetheless.
Lots of young talented players, like the Beast, SS, VD, Dansby, Wake but the one guy who is lights out our best player, the most solid on and off the field with his dedication, work ethic, leadership is Jake Long in my opinion. If Henne plays good this year it could be him but he's got to seize the opportunity this year otherwise there might not be any more opportunities for him. As of right now, Long would be my choice.
I'd venture to guess that the face of the franchise will be drafted in 2012. View attachment 1106 Despite the beard, I could live with this man being the face of the franchise.
Long is a franchise player. Reggie Bush I believe is now the face of the franchise. He is easily the most recognizable Miami Dolphin to the general public. Big play, electrifying guy which flashes you on Sportscenter. I'm not saying he is the best, nor an I saying it was a great move, but right now it is him.
Oh boo-hoo ! Never seen so many disloyal Dolphins fans as I have on these threads. C'mon now, its time to rally behind our boys and root them on to victory tonight over the Falcons. Go Dolphins !
Why not just make a separate forum where you Defenders of the Faith can comment on other site members, and we keep this one for commenting ON THE MIAMI DOLPHINS?
That's fair point, and normally I would agree. However, naming Ryan Mallet goes way past any degree of not taking a little shot. That is unless you agree it was a good post?
Did you not watch how Mallet preformed in the 1st game last night ? I think the Dolphins are idiots for not drafting the guy. Also did you not watch ESPN, were the guy was getting rave reviews. Now I just got done watching Dolphin highlights where Henne threw 2 interceptions.Watch Mallet will be an All pro in this league, the guys has lots of talent. Instead we are stuck with Henne and Moore, and seriously they give us no shot at the playoffs this year. The Dolphins current front office is a joke.
Boo Hoo is right I dont like losing, Hey i am just telling it like it is. I am so pissed at this team for the lack of trying to find a true number 1 qb i dont even want to watch the pathetic product they are putting out on the field these days. It use to be fun to be a Dolphins fan back in the Griese and Marino days, now every Sunday is basically waking to up getting prepared for a loss. What has been our record for the last two years? And these guys gets contracts extensions. Right now the Dolphins are the laughing stock of the NFL, at least the Lions have hope because they have Stafford. We are stuck with Henne and his interceptions. We won tonight only after the Falcons took out their 1st string. Just get prepared for a long season, because we don't have a solid QB.
All I said was he should have been the face of the franchise, but yet once again the staff current drops the ball and fails to draft a QB. Its poor choices like this that is going to leave Ireland And Sparano unemployed at the beginning of 2012. When you are in should dire need for a QB simple logic would tell you to take one in the draft instead of signing other teams castoff like Matt Moore.
So you don't think Mallet is going to be a solid NFL QB? I beg to differ and so does Bill Belichick. And you know what I would guess that the guy that has 3 Super Bowl rings knows just a little bit about judging talent. See this is what separates teams like the Patriots from the Dolphins, even when they have a star Qb, they are still drafting player to develop at the most important position in football, however the Dolphins cant seem follow this strategy, and this is why we have had such a hard time finding someone to replace Marino. It is because the front office of the Dolphins can't seem to learn how important it is to keep drafting QB's until you finally find a star. Instead we continue to be stuck with average play at the position at best. It is becoming very annoying that we can't find a great QB to lead this team into a playoffs every year. Instead we waste a first round pick on a center, even a 1st grader can tell you this was a bad move!
I agree. For national name recognition to the general public, it has to be Bush, even though he has yet to play one snap. Even people who know little of nothing about the NFL are familiar with him due to his former relationship with Kim Kardashian.
