I haven't had reason to smile from my team for a long, long time, but Jimmy Wilson and Roberto Wallace have me grinning ear to ear. I've been a big supporter of Wallace's since day one and it's good to see him play tough, hang on to balls even when hit hard, and taking one right in the hands in stride all the way to the end zone. And Jimmy Wilson...God bless you, kid. Keep fighting and making all the idiots who passed you up 7 or more times wish they hadn't. Only halftime, but whatever happens next, I'm proud as all hell of these two.
I like Wallace as a backup WR, solid backup. just don't see more than that. Wilson has been very fun to watch. I only paid attention to Pouncey for a few plays, and thought he looked solid, but did anyone pay more attention? I really wasn't expecting much tonight with essentially two backup tackles starting tonight (even though one of them will be our starter moving forward ) [edit] lol, I had to put my kid to bed, so I missed Wallace's TD. I'll shut up, for now.
Jimmy Wilson looks like what Yeremiah Bell used to be. I hope he turns into something. He deserves some good luck for a change. --- - Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
as stupid as I know I sound by writing this, he looks like he is having fun out there. I hope he keeps it up.
And God bless the offense for attacking with 13 seconds left instead of playing for a FG. Two deep ball TD's in one half..... Pinch me. And Jimmy Wilson looks like the truth. He is a good blitzer off the edge.
Agreed, I was pretty amazed by that. Things looked really sloppy on offense, but they definitely took a couple shots which is really relieving to see.
I think we're seeing some pretty good stuff from all the wrs really, and our best one isn't on the field. ...Or is it our offense is opening up for the wrs to finally make a difference...
Wonder if Wallace can be our Miles Austin development guy, nice job this game, hopefully he keeps it going. If he turns out anywhere near that level we did good.
Gates was my favorite of all their draft picks. He's having the most impact in this game of all the draft picks, too.
Yeah, Gates showing up good too. I'd like to see Matt Moore get the start next week; see what he does against starters.
I hate to be "the guy" who falls in love with the backup QB, but is it just me or is Matt Moore really looking good out there. I have to caution myself and temper that with the reality that the defense is being manned by 2nd 3rd depth chart guys, but he is throwing a real nice ball. Got some mustard on a couple of those throws too.
Normally, you don't take a whole lot out of the first pre-season game. I left the game discussion when a number of posters wanted Fasano cut, and knew he sucked after not catchin a pre-season pass, LMAO!!! However, when it comes to Wilson and Gates, playing against 2nd teamers, they have proved that they belong. which is a big deal. I believe they will only get better.
No interest in Matt Moore starting next week. He settled down and looked good vs 3rd stringers, bu t like Henne, pretty shaky start.
I wouldn't mind seeing each get 2 starts. Though frankly neither has me excited for anything other than draft position. My worst fear at this point is we get in a never-ending Alex Smith cycle where one (Henne especially) plays just barely well enough to keep us thinking he will get it next year and we just need to tweak the offense a bit.
i liked all of our WR's today its clearly a strength of this team even without the beast, sheets belongs on lets dance, oline is a work in progress, looked like we found a return man and he is not named bush or gates, defense needs work especially run D, wilson shined, so did sapp, clemons can hit, edds and odrick active
EASY THERE BUDDY :P And for everyone that voted ireland off in the Dolphin survivior look at all his draft picks this year....
I'd still start Henne, and see how he handles playing in front of what could be a very hostile home crowd.
At this point, you know the die is cast. Henne is gonna get booed no matter what; might as well be in relief, with less pressure.
Now we just need a player as sneaky as Brock Marion when it came to blitzing and... well... I think our defense would get life with no parole after killing at least 16 QBs.
I think I would too. I think he would do well at a safety position. In two years I think he is starting for the team.
