Look at the list of scape goats that I mentioned. How many people related to the offense are left OFF that list? Bess, the FB, and the GM. Everyone else has been used as an excuse to why Henne played like crap. Doesn't Chad Henne have some responsibility in this too? Why is it everyone but him?

Why would the rest of the team play poorly? Elite QB's make other players better. Give Manning or Brady Marshall, Bess, and the #4 defense in the NFL. I think they would do just fine. The WR for the Colts are nobody's for the most part and he still works magic with that cast.

Todd has compared him to Ryan. Are we now saying Ryan is a very good QB? I thought Ryan was a product of his team?

Classic straw man. I NEVER said that. I created two separate posts on two separate topics. Todd was talking about people in the forum saying that you have to have an Elite QB to win a superbowl. I was responding to that part of his post. I should have quoted it to make it clear.

All that said we had the #4 ranked defense in the NFL. So your talk about defense is irrelevant. We had a top flight defense last year.

Nice...I agree with the premise here... Quite simply, What I saw was a QB playing his position well, making a few, not a lot of mistakes along the way, executing an offense that he was instructed to do, and the rest of his team, not doing their part to be a winning football team, If the rest of the team didn't elevate their game because of an emotional void from their QB, than he needs to figure that out, and do something about it.

Hes got to have a moment where he emotionally lifts this team, he needs to ''come out'' {no homo} on the football field.

IMO most people tend to discount the impact of the situation on a player's performance. I think there are a few QBs who would have been successful in any system, a guy like Marino comes to mind. But guys like that are rare. For most people the difference is huge. I see a guy like Steve Young who had something like a 13/20 TD/INT ratio his first two years in Tampa. If he had stayed there or got traded to another poor situation, he's just another QB bust. But instead he goes to a great situation in SF with a great QB system and great supporting players and ends up in the HOF. Now obviously he had talent, but that talent would have been unrealized without a good situation. I think there are many QBs that come into the league with more than enough talent, but end up in the wrong situation and it is never realized. The situation can easily be the difference between a bust and the HOF. I don't see Ryan as one of those Marino types who has so much talent that he would succeed regardless of the system and situation. I see Ryan as having the level of talent that could easily succeed or fail depending on the situation. I believe that if Ryan had been drafted by Miami we would have all the same questions that we currently have about Henne. Conversely, if Henne had been drafted by Atlanta, we would be complaining that we could have had Henne and we wouldn't have all these QB questions. Now, IMO Ryan is more talented than Henne, but the difference isn't so great that it would have overcome the situation.

Neither Todd or I claimed that Henne doesn't need improvement. Again, the point bro...the point. lol

Are you saying that Henne is responsible for the defense and run game? Once more, when the running game is working, Henne's number improve greatly. This is true with nealy all QB's sans maybe Marino and P. Manning who seem(ed) to be able to put up great numbers in nearly all situations. Are you expecting Henne to be Manning or Marino?

I think the Falcons have a really good team with a good QB. You missed the point on that too. Nearly ALL QB's are a product of their team. Again, Marino and Manning (and a few others in the history of the NFL) seem to be the exception to this.

"Straw man"? lol..Dude, you're not even getting that right. lol...I may have exaggerated yuor point by writing "Super Bowl", but you clealy believe that if ONLY Henne were to play better we'd be at least in the playoffs.

And again you're wrong about a stat. Just like you said Henne was the QB in 2008-2009, he wasn't...last season our defense wasn't ranked 4th, it was ranked 14th. HUGE difference.

Really because the way you argued me for pages when I said my "singular point" was Henne needs to improve doesn't suggest that you do feel like that.

No. Said the exact opposite statement in THIS thread and in this post: http://www.thephins.com/forums/show...-amp-QB-play&p=1541891&viewfull=1#post1541891

I don't expect Henne to be Marino or Manning. I am just sick of people pointing the finger everywhere else but Henne. AKA the LONG list of scape goats.

Okay. Sure. Ryan is a decent QB the Falcons are a good team. Yea you can be a System QB and have great success. I am not arguing that point.

Lol. You weren't straw manning me? Are you sure? Are you sure you are sure? Do you know what the Straw man fallacy is? Because for someone who thinks he is correct on the matter, you seem to be fairly far from the mark.
"Exaggerating" my point is doing exactly that. But I am sure you will try to find away to say I am 'missing the point' in some form or fashion in an attempt to explain it away.

I love it. Yea Keep harping on my mistake of calling the year 2008 and please continue to completely ignore the fact that I linked you to the stats for the season I was speaking of. Where Henne had the 4th ranked running attack and still threw for more INT's than TD's.....

But I must admit I was incorrect our defense wasn't 4th. It's 6th according to this link:
    http://www.nfl.com/stats/categoryst...OTAL_YARDS_GAME_AVG&d-447263-o=1&d-447263-n=1

But hey continue to straw man me, oops I mean exaggerate, because if you don't admit to it then your not really doing it.. right?

So many examples of this IMO. What if the Saints drafted Joe Montana? Highly doubtful he achieves fame and success anywhere close to the level he did. What if somehow the Dolphins selected Archie Manning? I'll go to my grave convinced he'd have been a first ballot hall of famer.

Agree....... and we cant even say that Marino & Manning are exceptions.

Marino???-------- Duper, Clayton, Martin, Fryer, Keith Jackson? Hello!
After his firepower disappeared, Dan the Man's production took a serious hit! During his last 4 years, he only broke 17 TDs once...... and had roughly an 80 QBR. Would this current fan base put up with 17, 16, and 12 TDs from Henne?

Manning?????-------- 2 likely HOF WRs? One of the best receiving TEs in the game? Hello!!!
Without this talent around him he goes 1-4 with 13 INTs.

I've already made one post on this subject----- listing all the top QBs from NFL history and showing the correlation to a GREAT surrounding cast.

I thought you said that "if Henne needs guys around him to play better in order to succeed, then he's not really a good QB".

Well, Atlanta's excellent ST got showed up this evening, in response they actually ran plays and it led to their having field position on our side of the 50, two kicks nearly became touchdowns in fact.
