LOL. That is why Seedorf took the shot, and you can't take anything away from the quality of the shot because of the goalie's position.

And the goalie against Klinsmann was wearing cement boots.

Either way, two very nice long range shots.

My favorite goal ever is the Seedorf one. It was just nasty. Man he had amazing touch over the years.

I'm late for the party and reaction, but anyway, here comes: Klinsmann is not a particularly good coach. In fact, he's a pretty crappy coach. His forte is what we in Germany would call a "Teamchef" (and no, that's not a cook), namely someone who's purely in charge of the bigger picture and doesn't have to deal with the X and O aspect. Klinsmann can be the soul of a team, but don't count on him to be the brains. He sorely needs a Jogi Löw to compliment his skills - ironically enough, Jogi Löw lacks a Klinsmann nowadays - because he's a visionary, not a coach. If he picks up a strong tactical mind as his running mate, he could be exactly what you guys have been lacking, but if he ends up trying to actually coach himself, I'm afraid you're in for a nasty surprise.

the LAST thing we needed was a "tactician".

We needed a celebrity face to oversee USA soccer and be bigger than the players he oversees. Klinsmann is exactly that. The X's and O's will be taken care of.

That much is true. Why anyone would be actively looking for just that, however, is beyond me. Might as well have hired Hillary. She fits that bill, too.

By whom? I'm asking because in my educated opinion, you guys don't lack star power, you lack fundamentals.

It's the smallest field legal by MLS standards. The stadium was built in 1926 for baseball. They renovated it for MLS in 2010, with the city putting up like $31 million for it. It seats 22k but they only let about 18.5K in because of sight lines and limited restrooms. It's too bad, last I heard the waiting list for season tickets was over 2k. I think they keep like 500 seats available, first come first served on match day.

Oh and here is a decent Timbers goal.

I've enjoyed watching the Timbers this year more than I have ever like watching soccer, I am becoming a fan. Something about a pro team in your home city. I haven't been to a MLS Timbers game yet, but even on TV they've been fun.

I really enjoy seeing the msl having so many fans. Its really great to see a sport I love catching on in the US. I remember when most games weren't televised, the mls was weak etc.

Looks like Arsenal will lose both Nasri & Fabregas in the next few days. Ouch!!!

I would say they have Mata already lined up.

Not really important at this moment. They have a makeshift staff right now, and will surely add more in the coming months. We have almost a year before it really matters anyway.

Arsenal was offering nasri 90,000 per week. He wanted 110,000 to match fab. Arsenal said no. Then City came in offering reportedly 185,000 per week. That's why$. The mata deal has kind of died off. Arsenal are in talks with shahktar for Jadson at about 8-10. Would rather it be douglas costa but oh well. Something else to think about is how screwed arsenal is going to be in Janurary when Gervinho, Chamakh, Eboue (if still here), and probably Song go to play in the African Nations. At least the board said they will reinvest 100% of Cesc/Nasri money. Could go for some Mata/Mertesacker/maybe some Hazard/Jagielka or Cahill/Kagawa heck I could even go for some Hulk/Falcao/Benzema. If they stay true to their word, they'll have 60+ mill to spend. Its crazy andy carrolls transfer may be more than Fabs. More fans are starting to the freak out that the Nasri's situation could happen again with RvP and Theo in their final years next season. Hopefully the riots can delay the season or something.

P.S Bendtner still is looking for a way out (not so bad but we need bodies right now)

1-1 :pity: not the result at home that you'd want. It's early and the team isn't playing as cohesive as you'd like. Never thought I'd hear myself say this but no Glenn Johnson at RB and I missed him. Young John Flanagan bit of a struggle today at times. Although the equalizer, what can you say? Don't think Glenn would have been any closer. Great strike though. Thought they came out on fire and got tired as the game went on. And then couldn't re-fuel at halftime. Not very impressed with Henderson. Enrique was solid though. Adam, man of the match for LFC, close runner up in Downing. Thought Wes Brown though really neutralized Carroll. He was the MOTM for Sunderland.

When Gerrard comes back, I'm not sure where KD will play him. At RM? Seems like you have three central midfielders with Gerrard, Adam and Lucas and then you'd move Downing around to get wide on either side. So it's really a 4 - 3 - 3, with the 3 MFers playing centered so the two wingbacks can run around. And then you have the three forwards to supply to, but one of them is Downing. Going to be interesting to see it progress. Lot of options to serve the ball, but are there enough finishers?

Here's hoping for a fourth title in a row for Rangers this season! :D

Penalty save that kept us in the title race against our rivals on old firm day in April -

Allan McGregor was credited for winning us our 54th league title
The black guy (number 7) who goes and does at jump at Samaras (who took the penalty) is our American center midfielder Maurice Edu. :) We've signed Ale Beyoda if you didn't know that as well.

Makes me want to cry, though I'm also a Barca supporter. It's going to be hard to stay enthused about the Gunners. I do love Jack Wilshere, but I think they're going to be stuck in the same position, battling for 4th, for a while.

I've actually been trying to get into WPS a little more lately. I think it would be a shame if that league folded.

Was actually quite a good game that. Didn't think it was a penalty in the first place either. SPL should be close again this year, its just too bad its only contested by 2 teams.

Certainly could have had an easier start to the season. At least your in good shape against Udinese. Would be amazed if you dont grab an away goal over there.

It was a head in hands moment ready to cry when they got the penalty, as if they scored, then the league would effectively been theirs, then McGregor pulls out the save! :) Did you like our display of Union Jacks all round the stadium on every seat (apart from the celtic end, let them wave their foreign flags.)

The EPL is a two horse race as well, despite being double the size, it's either Man Utd Or Chelsea now.

Man City are probably the best equipped team at the moment to deal with fixture congestion and the added games that come with being in the CL.

I'm not going to go through the whole squad, but just have a look at the quality they have up front, and keep in mind they are this loaded in every other aspect of the field.

Adebayor
Dzeko
Santa Cruz
Aguero
Tevez
Bellamy
Balotelli

No other team in Europe, let alone England have that much talent to call upon. The question for City will be can Mancini get the team performing consistently enough to mount a serios challenge. He certainly has the talent in the squad to do it, which is why for me they are certainly title contenders.

I'm predicting they will finish ahead of either Man United or Chelsea this season.

bottom 3 going down:

Norwich

and....
Wigan (although I admit, you could put Blackburn here and I couldnt argue)

I know its traditional to put all 3 newbies on the block to return, but I like what QPR has put together. time will tell
