This is awesome. You're a big sized target, Chris, but I've always appreciated your ability to have a few laughs at your own expense. This is good stuff.

It was really nice to see. And YOU KNOW I've got to put in a little footnote that it was Brian Hartline who beat the hell outta the DB right? Anybody want to talk about how needed this double move, and that trick, or that 4.4 speed to beat him? Nope. It's always nicer when everything works out. No issues. Hopefully that'll continue throughout the season.

It was against the second string Atlanta defenders, was it not? Maybe that's an argument to stoke the fire.

Could Hartline get behind starting caliber DBs consistently?

Could Henne find enough time to throw against starting caliber D-linemen? Or be confident enough throwing it up against 1st string secondary?

I dunno. Just looking to play devil's advocate. We have over 650 posts to go.

cmon you guys..... No props to Chad for the perfectly placed pass on Bess's diving grab? That was not an easy throw, definitely not one that every starter in the league can make.

I think I saw Henne look over in fear at the ghost of Lee yelling on the sideline for attempting a downfield pass. :shifty:

I think this is the point of the thread that needs to be discussed..

In one quarter, while he flashed one weakness, he also flashed improvements on several weaknesses..

One of the best parts was that Henne dropped back and immediately fired it to Hartline. He recognized the blown coverage and tossed an accurate ball.

Henne always seems to make decisions a tick late, or pat the ball one too many times before releasing it (like the 2nd INT). If he could get to the point where he trusts his instincts and can step back and make a quick throw - it would be a huge step.

When I was watching Colt McCoy the other night (not that he is a great QB) it struck me how quickly he was getting rid of the ball and not giving the defense time to get anything set up. Love to see more of that from Henne.

im on my phone so I can't...... But if you go back to the video and freeze it, look where the CB is in relation to Bess and Henne. He has inside position to jump the route for an easy TD if Henne doesn't throw it to a spot where only Bess can get it.

You mean despite the fact that the DB totally bit on Henne's play action, right?

I am sure the Falcons are working on their two horrible coverage breakdowns. I wish they showed why the receiver was so open for Hartline's and Wallace's catches.

I already told you why for the Hartline TD. The DB bit hard on Henne's play action.

GTHOH, no one bites on Henne's play fakes. The DB must have been looking in the stands for hot chicks or something...:tongue2:

DBs are not supposed to bite hard on play actions.

Unless they were so surprised that Miami wasn't in field goal formations that the idea of them throwing the ball blew their minds!

Not to go too far off topic - but he looked great the other night. He is the anti-Henne in that he doesn't have a huge arm or the sterotypical size, but he just finds ways to get the job done. I think he'll strive in the new system - although the lack of WR on that team is embarrassingly bad. And Greg Little has been dropping EVERYTHING at practice.

Db just assumed that Hartline was going to break his route to the outside, that is why he "squatted" when Hartline, and really Wallace kept running those Db's were caught flat footed.

Yeah, that kid's heart is two sizes too big for his body. I respected his immense body of work in Texas.

NCAA - Highest Single Season completion percentage: 76.7%.[97]
NCAA - Most wins by a starting quarterback in NCAA Division I history with 45.[98]
NCAA Colt McCoy is the only quarterback in college football history to have at least ten wins per season during all four seasons.

And if you watched his QB camp video with Jon Gruden, you HAD to love the kid. He'll stick. I just hope he doesn;t have an injury-plagued career like Chad Pennington.

(another reason to respect him... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/13/rachel-glandorf-pictures_n_422102.html

Bob's 4th season was also (coincidentally?) the arrival in Miami of one Coach Donald Francis Shula. Hopefully, Henne is aided in his 4th season by the arrival of a new young and enthusiastic offensive coordinator with something to prove.

It was a terrible throw. Notice that Hartline had to "catch" the pass. It should have just been in his hands as soon as it left Henne's hand.

I thought Chad looked too much like a robot when he was making that pass. Then after Hartline scored, he ran down the field to join the celebratory festivities, too robotically. He was rather robotic as he jogged back to the sidelines too. Sparano was overheard to mumble something about Henne being an alien from another galaxy, sent here to steal his brain...

Everyone is supposed to bite on the play action if it's a good fake. Their first read is pass, but if you really think the RB already has the ball, you better get your *** to the hole and drill baby drill.

    Pun intended.

You got me on ignore then. I've commented several times about how readily he seems to go to the ground. Just yesterday, responded to your post in The Club about Hartline's balance problems.

Yes he did. Henne never threw one good pass before Henning worked his magic on him.
