but that's not what some people care about. Some people are speaking in general that Henne needs to hit Fasano in stride on that play regardless of where Dunta is or isnt and regardless if Henne can or cant see him. That's the problem. What you're saying isn't the issue.
That's probably the difference. I'm not saying all this like I'm pissed at Henne for the int or throwing behind. I'm fine with what happened from Henne on that play for the most part. I just want to see those shorter passes come more in stride with the routes... soon.
Oh Lord help me now. Henne is an NFL QB. He's knows you don't lead a TE into a zone, which is what we're discussing. How often do you see our players getting blown up the past 2 years? Rarely to never..... b/c Henne doesn't hang his guys out to dry. If a QB for some reason can't see a DB on a play, you don't lead your man into a spot that can get him killed. Period. It's quite simple. If a DB is in zone and your TE is running into that zone, you keep him safe. And yes, QBs think about that when they're reading a defense. You previously gave a general reference saying that TEs occasionally beat up CBs so it's ok to put your TE in a dangerous position. Now if you wanna go through "if this, if that, blah blah blah", then that's pretty silly.
He put it where a professional receiver should be able to catch it. That's what matters. Henne did his job on that play. It was not poorly placed. Poorly placed would be where it was uncatchable. Could it have been better? Yes, instead of hitting the 0 he could have placed it between the 8 and the 0. Either way, he should be able to expect it will be caught.
I'm with you Oz. I could care less about this one pass b/c his arm was hit, so I'm just happy it was still catchable. However, some of these complaining fans also boo'd Henne for Bess having to make an acrobatic diving catch along the sideline, when in reality it was a great throw to where only his guy could get it. That's what GM & I are annoyed with--- that some people don't realize that sometimes a pass is NOT meant to be right on the money. Does Henne get credit for that? No. He gets chastised for it along with a pass thrown behind Fasano when they don't know the situation of the play and whether or not that situation dictates throwing the ball off normal target.
and this has WHAT to do with a pass that's impeded by a defender other than the fact that 5% represents the bottom percentile of starting TEs in the league who need to be accommodated for their lack of catching ability?
lol. If a pass that hits a defender slightly off to the side of his chest is considered "poor", then what the heck do we call a pass called that one hops him?...... is 5 feet behind?.... Sails 10 feet over his head into the safety's mits?
why dont you go back to your circle, jerk. see what i did there. I used a properly placed comma to keep from being banned again. nee ner nee ner, mods.
Just tell the posting gestapo that you meant to say you like beef jerky and was trying to order some online while multitasking.
It is hilarious bordering on ludicrous when some well meaning fans say a pass that hits a receiver in the chest but slightly off center, is a poor pass. Their zeal in denigrating a good man like Chad Henne causes them to lose touch with reality I suspect. You and me and DJ all ought to go to a game in Miami together, one of us wearing an aqua Henne jersey, one of us in an orange and one of us in a white Henne jersey. If anyone mumbles even the slightest negative comment about Henne, we'll stomp their guts out like the dirty dogs they are.
You guys realize this stuff is counter productive to the Henne to 700 thread, right? We should probably move the discussion over there. Hell, if the mods could merge this entire thread, it would probably help out a lot.
Well Mr C, that"s probably a good idea. Judging by this thread, it does appear that you and TP need to get out a bit more.
all i know is this, as a wr I was always taught if you can get you hands on you should catch it. If you get your hands on it without having to extend your arms, then it is a must you catch it. Could he have been lead more probably. I will say that if you dispute MrC's few inches theory shoulder to shoulder then you realize based on that still picture where it is arguable that it is 6 to 7 yards diff from where the cb was to where fasano was with his body turned toward henne. If Henne had lead him as some state he should have then that distance wouldnt have been 6 to 7 yards it would have been more like the 4 Con reported. Anyway the point is henne was off most likely with the timing was off and he was behind fasano, so it wasnt a good pass. BUT if your hands are within the frame and you get your hands (both) on the ball, you have to catch it. so bascially it was abad play, but not Hennes blame for the int but he could have made it easier on his receiver
Watch the Panthers game from this past week. Clausen, early in the game hit Kevin Boss exactly where Henne hit Fasano on a nearly exact play. The ball was up on his outside shoulder, just like Henne's pass was to Fasano, he had to reach for it and catch it with his hands...the difference being that Boss made the catch, shook a tackler and made 5-7 more yards on the play. Those are the kinds of plays that Fasano does not make. If Henne had hit Fasano in stride, the CB coming from the outside might have been in position to make a play on the ball as well. We all seem to fault Henne for not perfectly placing the ball, yet we don't give Fasano the same lashing for missing a catchable ball. And the timing of the pass, at least that particular pass was spot on. Fasano wasn't ready in the route any sooner than when the ball got there...
The small town where Boss grew up is about 35 miles from where I'm from. One interesting note about Boss's hometown...There was a very wealthy man who used to own a large sawmill and lumber company there. He set up a trust for students there, so that any child who began school in that district and continued through to graduate high school there, basically K-12, and if the child wanted to attend college afterward, the old lumber baron's trust would pay their tuition. I do not know if there were limitations on which colleges they could attend or not. That is just what I heard from several friends and acquaintances who lived there. Some people from around other parts of the county would try to move into the district before their kids began kindergarten, but since it is a small town, I guess it wasn't always easy to find a place to live and I guess you could not live outside the district and have your kids attend school there either. Anyway, I always thought it was pretty cool that some rich old man would be so philanthropic.
Nicholas Colasanto and Robert DeNiro from The Raging Bull. Nicholas Colasanto was also 'Coach' on Cheers.
What you do with Jet fans is you take your Bowie knife and sneak up behind them, and sever the hamstring a few inches above the knee. Then every time they take a step they fall flat on their face. Keep your Bowie knife razor sharp for this purpose, so the Jets fan will not notice till it is too late. After they fall on their face, you roll them over, take out your Bowie knife again and carve JETS in the middle of their forehead. That way even later in life once they learned the error of their ways and take off their Jets jerseys, hats, shirts etc, you have given them a little something extra they can never take off. That way for the rest of their pecker sucking lives, everyone will know they were or still are a Jets fan. They can never hide it, no matter the shame they may come to feel.
Speaking of smaller guys hitting bigger guys...I'll never forget the Atwater hit on Okoye.
I loved Coach. It was a sad day, right at the show's peak, that he passed away. Ernie something was Coach's name. I thought that was so funny when someone called the bar, he answered the phone, then called out to all the patrons, phone call for Ernie Zampulo or something like that. Sam says, "that's you coach", so without hesitation, he puts the phone back to his ear and says "speaking" Edit: had to look it up...Ernie Pantusso, so I was kind of close,
Yeah man, that was my all-time favorite show. Yes, that was sad.. "Ernie Pantuso". He goes from playing the head gangster in my old hood to playing coach on Cheers. That's range.
When Cheers was in it's heyday, I never missed an episode and thought it had surpassed All in the Family and Sanford and Son for the funniest show ever. Then Seinfeld came along, and to me it became the funniest. Then later on My Name is Earl came along, and to me it became the funniest and IMO it was canceled far too soon. Taxi was in the mix there somewhere and thanks mainly to Christopher Lloyd joining the cast, it was right up there for funniest for a while too.
