hate these types of quotes. Yeah, he needs to find the positive, but fans like me aren't rubes.

A few cherries in a pile of poop does not a lovely dessert make.

And the b.s. about the practices... such a lame excuse. Every team, including ones that looked GREAT, had only 7 practices.

Just fed up of excuses, 'mitigating circumstances' and sugar-coating things from my armchair fan perspective. I understand Tony HAS to find the positive and try to feed it to us, but I don;t have to swallow it.

Agree with the article that safety is becoming a very interesting position to watch. Clemons must have a good preseason to cement his spot. Reshad jones could challenge if he performs well. Also, some think Yeremiah could be slipping due to age. I don;t see Bell losing his starting spot this season, though.

Glad to see Wilson at CB for now. Closer to the LOS, so can blitz and run-support more easily. Also more likely to see the field as a #4 CB than as a backup safety.

I'm not one to make excuses for what is going on but those teams that looked great in there first game were not completely changing the offense and playing with a qb whose confidence was crushed last year. I mean hell the chargers looked awful in there first preseason game and some are picking them to go to the superbowl. I think that there is so much that the coaching staff had to look at right now on offense that it is going to be a rough start on offense this year.

I can agree, at least somewhat, there is a balance between cynicism and objectivity though, and 3 new OLinemen will naturally take some time to come together, so do not be too hasty.

There will always be 'new Olinemen' with this staff.

But you cherry picked that quote. The two sentences before that show that he's not happy.

I wonder if Sparano is axed by week 6 and Nolan is named interim....hmmm

I sure hope not. I am luke warm on Sparano and I know he's living on borrowed time but I think to axe him during the season like that could do more harm than good. I think after last season he knows his head is on the chopping block and I think (I hope) he'll come out swinging.

After week 4, during the break if the team is 0-4, 1-3 or 2-2. If they're 3-1 or 4-0, he lasts until after the second NE game.

I'm not sure how I can see losses to New England and San Diego getting Tony in trouble.

I don't think it will be as bad as all that. The lockout gave us a lot of extra time to work on our new offense and I hope we put it to good use. I still wish we would have picked up Sproles instead of Bush (or both) but at this point you have to dance with who brung ya. I will say this - it will be one of the most interesting seasons the Dolphins have had in a long, long time.

The NFL lockout, 7 official team practices, new offensive coordinator, new offense, Marshall on the sidelines, Bush on the sidelines, typical first preseason game errors and sportwriters (and some of us here as well) wanna write the Dolphins and Sparano off already?

It's preseason for crying outloud. This is where the mistakes are supposed to be made. In fact, as it was pointed in an another thread, Henne's overall performance topped some of the big name QB's in the league on their first preseason outing.

BTW; look for a win in San Diego. Miami's won 4 of the last 5 games played in San Diego and 7 of 8 total. The last time San Diego won back to back games against Miami was December 1993 when San Diego destroyed Miami 45-20 and just edge Miami in the playoffs in January 1995 22-21.

    My pick's the Dolphins!!!

I remember that playoff game and Natrone Means out of bounds clearly at the six....but called a TD. PRE replay obviously.

Wait...are you saying playoff teams and Super Bowl champions are not determined by the 1st quarter of the 1st preseason game? So I should continue to watch football and cheer for the Dolphins? And I am not insane to think Miami still has a chance at making the playoffs? Wow...the season isn't already over!!!

No Adam, you're not insane one bit my friend. Anybody can beat anybody on any given Sunday. On opening day of the season all 32 teams will be tied for first place and everyone will have the same opportuity to go to the playoffs and go to the Super Bowl, so cheer cheer cheer for the Miami Dolphins!!
